Anyone else doing slimming world?

Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

Wow - some great weight losses here.

Had my WI tonight. Was expecting nothing better than STS but I lost 2lbs. Hooray!

And better still, that's 1.5 stone so far (4.5 months), I got my Club 10, and I'm a third of the way to getting to a healthy weight (target will be a bit less). So all in all very pleased. The two differences between last week and this are (a) no haggis munching, I'm sure that was the culprit last week and (b) I have had a hea and a HEb every day. Weirdly that seems to work better than skimping them despite the extra calories.

Today

B. 0% yog, blueberries, raspberries, banana

S hifi bar (HEb)

L mixed salad, no protein but spuds and rice salad, beet root, mushrooms, grated carrot and courgette - huge portion

D (not yet eaten) SW spaghetti carbonara with extra tomatoes, made with 0% yog not Creme fraiche, plus salad leaves

S. a couple of glasses of wine

Must say the support on this thread is great - at least as good as at the real life groups.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2013 22:00

Maybe that's my problem tiger. I don't always have my a and b

A is usually cheese as 45g is tons of low fat cheese

Struggle with my b's - either a brown roll or cereal

Well done on 2 lb loss :)

Yes a great support thread :)

tigerdriverII · 05/02/2013 22:10

Hi Blondes.

Agree with you about Hea: I don't drink milk (just don't like it) so it's cheese all the way for me. Tonight I had 45g of low fat cheddar in the carbonara. Usually have a couple of tablespoons of grated cheese on my work canteen staple of spud and beans with salad. Or sometimes just a 45g chunk of low fat cheese as a snack.

HEb ideas: (I don't eat cereal, life's too short to eat cardboard!)

  • hifi bars from SW. I resisted them for weeks but they are nice and an easy way to get the HEb
  • two slices small wholemeal loaf (I have the weightwatchers one at the moment, in the freezer as I don't eat much bread), either in a sandwich, or beans on toast, scrambled egg on toast
  • I have had a few scan brans but they are truly vile and I don't think I can stand any more
  • haven't had these myself but some of the breakfast biscuits (whatever they are) are hebs. You have to check them out though, not all the same.
BadRoly · 05/02/2013 22:19

Well done Tiger Grin

I don't struggle with either the heA or B - I could quite happily drink milk and eat cheese on toast all day which possibly explains why I'm here . I tend to have bran flakes every school day with half my milk then a glass of milk at bedtime. Not for everyone I know but I haven't time in the mornings to think!

androbbob · 05/02/2013 22:24

Well I made a discovery tonight - it would seem I have been having a HEA and two HEB on EE day - that is not allowed!! I decided to fill in my food diary online for this week, as I can then print it out and take to class on Monday for my leader to look at. And that was when I made my discovery!! Not entirely sure that is why I am not losing loads each week, but must have something to do with it! I had to then add my other HEB as syns - fortunately it was cereal so only 4.5 syns. That will teach me Grin

So, if I lose 2.5lb this week I will get my stone and then it is only another 6lbs to by Club 10. I want to acheive that by easter.

blondes - I do not know how you can not eat your HEB's! I can eat 2!!

tiger - I think yoghurts will be my new breakfast or eggs. I could hard boil some eggs and hope that would keep me full until lunch.

Keep up the good work ladies - we will be slim for summer at this rate!!

tigerdriverII · 05/02/2013 22:31

androbbob : scrambled eggs on toast is good for breakfast, or hardboiled eggs of course. I find the yoghurt, banana and soft fruit combo does keep me going to lunchtime. Not inexpensive but worth it. Any fruit works of course.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2013 00:16

Maybe I need to have cheese on toast every day Grin

androb 2 b's?? Isn't that allowed on green. Def not ee lol

I know Alpen lights are 2 for a b

Maybe I need to get some snack bars to nibble on

What others can I have?

Basically b's are 6 syns - as are a's

buzzgirly · 06/02/2013 07:55

Wow you guys are doing so well with the weight loss.

I had my weigh in on Monday and lost 4.5 lbs, so 8.5 in 2 weeks - I got my half stone award and slimmer of the week. But then I came home and had 2 tins of coke and 2 bags of crisps - aah I am so annoyed with myself. Is this upcoming week a right off?

Do you all always eat your healthy extras? I haven't been - do you think it makes any difference?

Today's menu is
Fruit and mullet light
Beans
Veg risotto

tigerdriverII · 06/02/2013 08:39

Well done buzzgirly. That's great going. The week certainly won't be a write off. I would add up the syns you used yesterday, then just deduct them from the total you have in a week - 105: then you can see what you have to play with. It's so easy to treat yourself after a good weigh in, but just keep it part of your weekly plan

I think having all the healthy extras is good - seems odd doesn't it as they have calories, but having them works better for me than not having them

blondes: forgot to say, two more nice hebs are 1 tbspn olive oil - I use it in salad dressing or stirred into pasta sauce, not for cooking, or nuts/seeds - all in the new book, but for example you can have 28 pistachios (yum).

BadRoly · 06/02/2013 09:56

0.5lb off. Still a loser Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2013 15:13

well done buzz and no not a right off, just take off syns

badroly still a loss lol

tiger will try and eat all a and b's

having phili light tonight

b fruit
l mince and veg and rice
t chicken wrapped in bacon filled with phil light, parnsnip chips cabbage and carrots

beanandspud · 06/02/2013 19:40

Well done on some fab losses everyone! I will add up the weekly 'team' loss tomorrow night - looks like being a good one Grin

Just back after being at a work conference for a couple of days. It has been so hard to stay on track with all the food on offer - big hotel meals, pastries and cakes at every coffee break and sweets and chocolates on the tables. I feel quite proud that I resisted all of that stuff and managed to make reasonably good choices but I have had a fair bit of wine in the evenings so I have everything crossed that I haven't done too much damage when I weigh in in Friday.

noyouhavehadawee · 06/02/2013 19:53

oh well done you guys i am proud of yas Grin. so....... today was wi day and my piss poor reign of weight loss continues - today it wasnt my insulting 35g loss nor my pathetic 15g loss it was an all time kick in the jaw 10g loss !! i know still a loss but jeeez whats going on? Today i almost had 3 healthy bs buy syned my sausages inthe end then was so miffed i had 2 chocolate digestives after tea. Wt actual f is going on?

Today i had :
breakfast special k
10 ocklock a banana
lunch - prawn salad with 2 he slices of brown bread
2 oclock a toffee muller light

tea (bit of a cock up)
beans, scrambled egg and 2 sausages (which would have been fine)
but then in my radged upsetness i ate dc left sausage and then the 2 biscuits - i am buying a 2nd hand rowing machine to see if exersise helps.

I have no issue eating my 2 he b's and my a goes all on my milk cereal and cups of tea which are now mostly cups of hot water. I am never starving particularly btu clearly somethings not right.

Yesterday i had if you will bare with me to see where wrong....
b: fruit and yogurt followed by a 10am banana
lunch - bacon and poached egg on a slice of wholemeal bread and 3 quorn sausages which were frankly rancid and then for tea it was
slim world chips, loads of salad and a fillett of chicken in a wholemal bap with a corn on the cob too. followed by another muller at about 8pm

so............... do tell Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2013 20:05

10g is still a loss - tho have to say my scales aren't that accurate

Could you be pregnant? Seems weird you aren't losing lb's

Only thing I can see is that on both days one one meal you aren't having a lot of superfree

Maybe bulk meals with veg?

My chicken in bacon is cooking and smells fab

'Blondes drools'

Can't beleive my meal is free of syns !!!!

noyouhavehadawee · 06/02/2013 20:40

ha ha blondes you could really give someone a nasty scare with questions like that! I am defo not as AF arrived kast nigh which i am thinking has interfered with any loss. I know i only gave an example of last 2 days as thats all icould recall but during the week i have had loads of other free stuff - risotos etc, lots of eggs and a fair experimentation with lots of free soups i have knocked together, anyway yes a loss is a loss and whilst i am losing i will continue so another week i will go...........

WishYouWereMine · 06/02/2013 20:50

Humph.
Well, as expected the scales were wrong last week and I didn't lose 5lbs. So this week I've 'put on' 2 lbs. Am absolutely gutted because I really wanted that 5lbs to give me a boost. I've still lost 5lbs altogether though. It was a problem that everyone in the group had. Morale was very very low tonight!
Have experimented with lots of new things this week so was looking forward to a good loss. :(
Think I'm going wrong with the Superfree foods - not having the 1/3 with every meal. I try to make 'free' meals so that I can use my syns on other things. But think I need to concentrate on adding the superfree.
Just about to do meal plan for the week.
So disappointed :( but well done to everyone who has had a loss (even 10g! what I would give right now for 10g!).

ninjanurse · 06/02/2013 20:53

Hello all, checking in with my weekly weigh in - and I have lost 2.5 lb this week, which makes a grand total of 11.5 lb loss since Jan 2nd!! Very pleased with myself, my work uniforms are very baggy now and I have had a sort through the wardrobe and found some more clothes I can fit into!! Hoping to lose 2.5 lb again next week to be a stone loss. Well done to everyone else, we are all doing really well.

Have got back into the habit of regular gym sessions as well, been going to zumba and combat which I think really helps with the weight loss.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2013 22:31

Noyou - sorry didnt mean to scare you. Yes having af could make a difference - still can't beleive you've lost 10g / I had to check (and don't mean to make you feel bad here) but there are 453g in a lb so you must have very delicate scales

Could you be not eating enough?

Wishyou - weird how all the group had gains - maybe dodgy scales and need calibrating

Ninja.well done on loss :)

fruitpastilles · 07/02/2013 07:46

Hi all! I joined slimming world last January, stopped going in March as fell pregnant with DD, started again this January when she was 7 weeks old and had lost 1stone 6lb, have lost 2stone altogether now.
Need some motivation though so have joined your thread Smile
Off to weigh in this morning, will report back with results.
Good luck to all those getting weighed today!
We can all do this!

Me23 · 07/02/2013 07:54

Well done on all the losses everyone. I'll be weighing in later hope I can get my half stone award it has been 5 weeks on the plan! So envious of all the people having big losses the weight is coming off me very slowly.

OP posts:
SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 07/02/2013 08:45

Well, I've got WI in 45 mins or so. Aiming for 1.5lb this week but not feeling hopeful to be honest! Had a few days over syns (not by much, just 2 or 3) and just don't feel like I've lost much. Back later to tell all...!

laughalot · 07/02/2013 11:57

Some fab weight loss ladies Smile. I am doing ok this week but saturday night will be my major downfall as we are going to friends and that will involve chinese and wine. However I promised myself that for occasions like that I wont count syns and just get back on it the next day as I still need to have a life.

Keep going ladies.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 07/02/2013 13:00

Back from WI and I managed to lose 1lb, so that's better than nowt.

Weeks: 5
Total loss to date: 12.5lb
Remaining to target: 87.5lb
Aim for this week: 2lb

So far today..

B - 2 x weetabix with milk (both healthy extras), a mullerlight and a cuppa
L - 3 eggs, scrambled, on toast (4 syns) and 4 rashers of bacon with a cuppa and a Choc & Caramel Hifi bar thingy for afters (3 syns).

Will probably snack on a banana and mullerlight this afternoon and dinner is going to be Hungarian Goulash with linguine (all free).

Quite impressed with the choc and caramel bar thingy - nicer than I expected. May just serve as a replacement for my mini Drifter after dinner and save myself a couple of syns a day.

laughalot - re the going out and having a life thing. We've talked about this quite a bit at our meeting last week and this week. Our Consultant asked one lass to count her syns when she went out for a night last week to compare losses with those who don't count, as she says that if you 'flexi-syn' (i.e. have 50 or 60 syns on a night out and make sure you count them, rather than having a night out and not counting, but don't do anything different the rest of the week and just stick to things as normal) you'll have a better loss than those who go out but don't count syns on the night out. Interestingly, the people that didn't count syns on the night out had smaller losses or gains, while the lass that went out and counted up after (and had over 60 syns on her night out) had a 3lb loss! Now all I need is a babysitter so I can go out...Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2013 13:34

well done cheddar on loss

laughalot - enjoy your night out

fruit - welcome

me - kwym - people lose 5lbs a week Envy im alb a week girl

obrigada · 07/02/2013 14:46

Hi everyone, posted a while ago to say I was starting SW, but haven't posted since. Haven't shifted an ounce since I posted but that has a lot to do with the fact that I can be good for 3 days and ruin it completely the other 4 days!

Made pasta sauce today - tin tomatoes, onion, garlic, stock cube, chilli flakes - had with rashers and wholemeal pasta. On extra easy plan is that a good enough lunch or should I have some fruit after it. Love pasta and if anyone has a recipe for some other sauces (am a total klutz in the kitchen) I would be hugely grateful if they could share them with me.
