Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

I've only been doing it 5 days and am already struggling.

Before I started this I was eating a very high sugar diet and am massively missing the crap food. :(

All help appreciated!

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2013 19:36

Why struggling? Give us a few days food

PenguinBear · 31/01/2013 19:47

Breakfast: porridge

Lunch: pasta with ham, cucumber and tomato mixed with a little extra lgt mayo. Plus a banana and a shape yog.

Dinner: chicken and rice with carrots

Drinking squash, I don't like anything else apart from
Milk, which all my allowance goes into my porridge!

BadRoly · 31/01/2013 19:58

Are you snacking? I have given up a huge amount of sugar (and fat) so keep easy fruit in reach - grapes, cherry toms, etc. if I'm craving sugar, I eat a dozen grapes and have a glass of water. Works most of the time Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2013 20:03

YOU NEED TO EAT SUPERFREE WITH EACH MEAL - NOT SURPRISED YOU ARE STRUGGLING, YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH

SO WITH PORRIDGE HAVE SOME BANANA/GRAPES/BLUEBERRIES

whoops hit caps, sorry

lunch isnt too bad prob more salad tho

tea needs more then carrots

if hungry eat fruit between meals

plus you have 10/15 syns a day so use them for treats

beanandspud · 31/01/2013 20:03

Don't be Sad Penguin, it can take a short while to adjust to a different way of eating.

How many syns are you allowing yourself? From your meals it looks as if you haven't used many apart from the mayo. Can you eat more fruit? Fresh fruit with muller yogurt is a syn-free pudding and is sweet. Options hot chocolate is only 2 syns per serving and the Alpen low-fat bars are only 3 syns and yummy!

The SW website here has some suggestions for low-syn puddings.

It might be better to use your syns up and have some sweeter things you will enjoy rather than cutting out everything, feeling deprived and then giving up.

beanandspud · 31/01/2013 20:19

Just added up this week's losses...

28.5lb GrinGrinGrin

So that's 84.5lb so far between us or 6 stone!

Next milestone 100lb?

I use minimins for checking odd things like syn values not online, recipes, etc - just google what I want to know and it usually comes up.

Today

B beans on toast (HEb)

L Smoked salmon Niçoise salad (?). Seemed to be no syns, ate out

S lots of fruit and some vodka and coke

D: home made 0 syn chilli, with lots f veg in it, rice, salad and cheese on top (hea)

So only the vodka as syns....

Hoping to do some exercise over the weekend and get away from my desk

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 00:17

What is minimims?

That's a great group loss bean :)

I have just made a choc malted milk last for 4 mouthfuls and sucked the choc off slowly

Babes fast asleep - I should be too but now feeling guilty as wi tomorrow and of I don't lose I will blame the madness of the biscuit :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 10:16

biscuits are now banned in house (and work) of blondes

sts :(

sunnyshine · 01/02/2013 10:21

I have a stone to lose in total and started this week. What roughly would you expect the loss to be in the first week? Am doing ok so far I think. How does this sound

B - natural yoghurt and honey
S - 2 Allen light bars, apple
L - pasta with sweet corn, tomatoes and ham

S - grapes
D- Thai red curry from SW book, jacket, broccoli

Any thoughts? Good or bad?

Me23 · 01/02/2013 10:35

weighed in yesterday STS but I'm ok with that as birthday meal and cake was had this week!
However I'm worried about this week, as I've come down with a cold which always makes me hungry and want to eat crap, have to stay strong.

beanandspud · 01/02/2013 11:02

STS as well Sad - it must be catching!

Welcome sunnyshine - that looks like a pretty good day, the only suggestion might be to add some fruit to breakfast?

I think we lost anywhere between 1 and 6 lbs in the first week - a lot depends on how much you had to lose to start with. We're all trying to remember that 'slow and steady' is the way to go so even a 0.5lb loss is a good thing!

sunnyshine · 01/02/2013 11:05

Thanks! Love fruit so will eat more then! Any one know how many syns the new muller light Turkish delight are? Thanks

Sunflower101 · 01/02/2013 16:16

I'm new to SW and just found this page and just wanting to say hello. Looking forward to reading your tips and ideas. Turkish delight yogurts sound yum but not seen those in supermarket, will look out for them. It seems strange to me that muller yoga have no syn value but I understand that all other 0% fruit yogurts have a syn value. I had my first WI last night and lost 5lb so really pleased. Want to lose 2stone, baby was born early Sept and feeling like a splodge of fat!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 16:35

welcome the 2 suns :)

must be a sts week for many of us :(

im wondering if i had too many eggs - as had magic pancakes a few times, where i normally have fruit and low fat yog

but least its not a gain - which i fear for next week as seeing an old friend for the weekend and there will be wine and laughter and tears

and yes add fruit for breakie

laughalot · 01/02/2013 17:54

Blondes that is good sts !!!! Wasnt this the fish and chips week aswell Grin ? For me today

B Wheetabix x2
L Salad with sweet chilli sauce
D Fry up done in fry lite egg, mushrooms, 1 x sausage, bacon, beans, 1 x slice wholmeal bread
S activia yoghurt, 2 x plums

Penguin what is it you are struggling with dinner, breakfast, lunch ? My dinners tend to be spag bol, lasagne, cottage pie, jacket spuds, fishcakes, salad, home made wedges, steak, stirfrys with egg noodle

Lunch soup homemade, boiled eggs , salad, jacket spud with laughing cow or beans.

Brekkie tends to be cereal porridge or wheetabix.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 18:06

Yes fish and chips

But I had 1/3 of chips and 1/2 of batter and was in my syns

So I should have lost weight

Bah humbug :(

noyouhavehadawee · 01/02/2013 19:49

porridge eaters is porridge super free or a healthy b and do you have oats so simple or ready brek or is that a no go ?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 20:10

In bath at moment but porridge is a b

Some oats so simple were syned / didn't have enough fibre to be a healthy b

Will check book when finished wallowing x

sunnyshine · 01/02/2013 21:15

Can you let me know if Turkish delight muller light are syns too! Thanks

noyouhavehadawee · 01/02/2013 21:15

Aw thanks, i have left my stuff in my office drawer Angry

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2013 21:41

oats so simple is not a b - 5 for plain - 6.5 for flavoured so AVOID

needs to be porridge oats

turkish delight/chocc sprinkles are free

sunnyshine · 01/02/2013 22:54

Thanks blonds! I could kiss you!! Looking forward to eating lots of Turkish delight muller lights then!
