Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

4lb off Shock

I do not understand how this works! All I can think is that my meals are very low syn and my 'treats' are not as bad as I think? Which doesn't mean I am going to have a pain au raisin every morning...

BadRoly · 30/01/2013 10:00

Imnotaslimjim - isn't that a bit like torture?! My friend makes cakes and is about to open a cafe - I spent yesterday morning helping paint and she 'paid' me in cupcakes Confused I think she wanted me to take more than I did but if I took them home I'd just drill them Blush

TurkeyDino · 30/01/2013 10:01

Hey. Just had a quick flick through the thread, sounds like everyone is doing great (I know there was a tiny gain but it was AF related) sorry I'm not name checking anyone, I'm on my phone!

I've been struggling to do 3 meals a day this week. Just being lazy really. Hope it doesn't bite me on the arse come weigh in. I did make some hairy bikers minestrone, replacing oil with fry light which is free and nice!

Also Turkish delight muller lights are keeping me going!

I am about to try the pancakes suggested by blondes. Hope you're all having a good week.

Imnotaslimjim · 30/01/2013 10:19

badroly at first it was really really hard, would constantly be picking and grazing on leftovers and cut-offs. Now, I taste the mixture once to make sure its right, same with the buttercream. I have no syns on days I'm baking (ie make sure all meals and snacks are syn free) and any leftovers that can't be used go straight in the bin or are boxed up for the DC

turkeydino we have a lovely lady in group who was just about managing to eat 1 meal a day, and was only seeing .5-1lb off every week. Consultant got her to do a fast forward, to show her how much she should be eating, and she lost 6.5lb!

beanandspud · 30/01/2013 10:44

Just popping in to see how everyone's doing. Well done to all of you that have lost lbs this week (Smile at Roly). In my unofficial version of the plan AF 'gains' don't count!!!

Orange - just reading back I know what you mean about trying to diet in secret. I have tried that in the past and it was rubbish - DH started adding chips to go with the salads that I was making, didn't see 'jacket and beans' as a proper dinner and would still want a takeaway on a Friday because he didn't get it that I was trying to watch what I was eating. This time round I've been a lot more open about it and I'm trying to cook SW versions of things he likes so lots of curries, chillis, veggie bakes, pasta dishes etc. He's actually looking and feeling much better for the change.

Any advice for the weekend? We are going for an Italian on Friday, birthday party for DS on Saturday and 'dry January' comes to an end. I also have a load of overnight stays with work coming up (hotel food and evenings spent socialising). January has been fairly easy as we haven't been anywhere or done very much but I can't help thinking that it has the potential to all go horribly wrong.

TurkeyDino · 30/01/2013 11:16

imnotaslimjim I'm a bit more prepared today, had breakfast, got soup ready for lunch just need to decide on dinner.

I'm hoping to get into a better routine when I start back at work next week. An actual lunch break! Joy! Grin

ninjanurse · 30/01/2013 11:22

beanandspud - If youre going for an Italian I would go for a salad or pasta with a tomato based sauce. Just steer clear of pizza!

tan3517 · 30/01/2013 12:03

Hi
I have just started EE on SW. I am a bit confused apparently I need to eat more superfoods in my diet. Can anybody give me any free soup and curry receipes that I can make please
Thanks x

BadRoly · 30/01/2013 12:12

TurkeyDino - the only way I can manage it is to menu plan like a bastard!

So breakfast on weekdays is always 35g bran flakes and about 1/2 my milk allowance.

Lunch is generally omelette, soup or jacket potato - but I am usually home at lunchtime which makes it easier. If I know I'll be out then I try and plump for jacket and beans (if snack bar/cafe) or grilled fish/meat and salad (posher restaurant).

Tea is usually at home too and I menu plan all the way (it helps for dc2 anyway so a habit we got into a long time ago). If we go out (unusual) the. I either write it off or go for fish & salad. I've been using the SW online menu finder thing to find recipes which I then print off and keep if we like them or bin if we don't!

Puddings are not really an issue as we don't tend to bother with them weekdays although I did a fruit salad last week and the children loved it! I always have a gazillion yogurts in the fridge and a full fruit bowl anyway.

I figure if the meals are 'good' then I can enjoy my syns on the good things that it me the in the first place Grin

Blimey, that turned into an essay! Shock

BadRoly · 30/01/2013 12:16

Tan3517 - we make the syn free chicken curry off the website, just search chicken curry in the recipe finder bit and it brings it up.

For soups, I generally make them up - sweat any manky veg that's lying around in fry light, add herbs/spice/seasoning to taste, chuck in a tin of tomatoes and blitz! Our SW woman is always going on about CPD (?) that you get in a time from Asda and make soup from but it is one of those things that everyone (except me) nods knowingly about so she has never actually explained what to do with it/them...

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2013 14:13

slim :(at gain - damn that AF!!

roly wow

i try to make meals syn free, but not always, try to have protein, with carbs and veg so cook mince, chicken, eggs with pasta, rice, potato and add veg and eat fruit afterwards

TurkeyDino · 30/01/2013 15:21

badroly I need to get organised! I keep blaming having a newborn but DS2 is 5 months old now!

noyouhavehadawee · 30/01/2013 18:32

Oh dear oh dear Sad, so week 1 i lose 6lb and so didnt expect to lose much week 2 but wa uber good and lost 35g (harly worth a mention) anyway so another week of being really really really good and i weighed in today thinking a pound would be something and i lost...... 15g - i am losing the will - i am starting a food diary this week to see what i am doing wrong
today i have had:
B - museli with a splash of milk
lunch - muller light and tropical fruit , 4 ryvita with low low cheese on em
snack - pack of french fries
tea/ dinner - fish, jacket spud and beans
I have also had 2 coffees and lads of hot water - well 3 mugs of it at work.

i turned the ryvita into 6 syns and made the fish a healthy b on a green day. I am on the brink of having a blow out.....

Slim you have my sympathies if you have been good and gained

noyouhavehadawee · 30/01/2013 18:33

oh i have had 2 cherry tomatoes as well - last week i was really good apart from saturday when i had 2 custard creams but to be fair i had no other syns that day and had been swimming and did some other excersise with Dh Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2013 22:13

noyou I don't think you are eating enough tbh

So your body is thinking its starving iyswim so won't lose weight

noyouhavehadawee · 30/01/2013 22:24

i had a banana too today as well, i will endeavour to eat more Shock

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2013 22:57

How much is 35g - apart from our porridge serving of b :)

Not a lot eh :(

Then again 6lbs in 3 weeks is fine. That's what I've done

Rem its the over all amount :)

Had 1/6th sains garlic bread - 6syns and soooooooo worth it :)

tigerdriverII · 30/01/2013 23:34

Hi all. Looks like everyone's finding their way with this! Had WI this morning. Bit cheesed off: half a pound on. But we did have a haggis dinner on Sunday, and 100g is 6 syns. And I did have a lot more than 100g....

Today:

B fruit and a hi if bar as HEb
L. Baked spud, baked beans, cheese (hea) various salads.
D er, a glass of
wine and three vodka and cokes, got home too late for dinner.

Never thought I'd buy the hi if bars but really wanted some choc.

noyouhavehadawee · 31/01/2013 07:43

Ooo sainsbos garlic bread - hmmm i would have had it too Grin.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2013 08:09

tiger :( at gain but least you know why iyswim

noyou blame my oh. I made a yummy shepherds pie - syn free and he popped out for fags and came home with that

36syns per garlic bread - was their round flat one - I almost fainted when cheeked syns - but decides 1/6th was worth it

The white bread and the butter

'Blonde drools'

Oh ate the other 5/6th and 30syns worth :)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 31/01/2013 12:43

Afternoon all.

WI for me this morning. Was aiming for 1lb and got 2lb so very happy, not to mention rather surprised. My parents came over to visit last weekend and we had a birthday cake and some booze as it was my birthday the week before - nearly had a heart attack when I found out the cake was 16 syns for a slice! Good job I only had one slice!

Weeks: 4
Total loss to date: 11.5lb
Remaining to target: 88.5lb
Aim for this week: 1.5lb

Just bought some of the Scandinavian Bran Crispbread things in class today - can't say I'm overly impressed. Had 4 for lunch (1 syn each) with half a tub of left over quark and a banana. Think I'll stick to ryvitas!

Creamy Ham Risotto for dinner tonight (6 syns) and I think I'll pop to the shops later for supplies as I fancy making the Bailey's Mocha Syllabub (4 syns each) off the website for pudding - might make some syn free vanilla ice while I'm at it. No idea what these desserts will be like, but worth a try!

noyou - sorry to hear you're having a tough time at the scale. The thing that stood out for me is that you don't seem to be having much superfree food - not sure if it works the same on red / green days as on extra easy, but maybe trying filling up with more fruit / veg?

tiger - I'm so jealous of your haggis! Haven't had any for years but may have to get some soon.

WishYouWereMine · 31/01/2013 14:32

Hi everyone!
WI last night, 5lbs off. So 7lbs in total and got my half stone shiny! I was mortified when they gave the books out. There was a problem with the scales though so I'm hoping that it was a true loss and not just the scales playing up!
This week definitely going to concentrate on adding the 1/3 super free to my meals, and hopefully getting to the pool.
Mum says she's feeling better on it too, and she's not sticking to it rigidly.
However, just looked in the book and seen that shop bought chicken & stuffing sarnies are 14 points. I think I had 2 of those last week! Really hoping that it won't show next week :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2013 15:05

well done chedder and wishyou for loss

wi for me tomorrow - although i had chinese/gin/fish and chips/garlic bread- gawd that sounds awful - i am within my 105 syns so hoping for a loss tomorrow of a lb

b fruit
l homemade sw tuna/onion/sweetcorn quiche and carrots/brocolli/courgette and sald cream lite 1 - bloody lush - pic on fb :)
t parsnip and tomarto soup

havnt had my a or b yet - may have bowl of porridge later

TurkeyDino · 31/01/2013 16:18

Well done losers! (Iykwim!). A bastard maintain for me. Didn't go over my syns at all so just guess that missing meals has scuppered me this week. Must try harder next week!

BadRoly · 31/01/2013 18:23

Evening all and a big Grin to the losers!

I oversynned yesterday as a neighbour turned up unexpectedly bearing wine and crisps at 9pm AFTER I'd eaten my ration of 4 Heroes!

Nevermind, today I have been very good and this evening had a tea of pasta salad (tiny amount of cheese and mayo in it) made by dc1 at school (2or3 syns?) followed by 1/4 of a chocolate brownie and custard made by dc2 at school as well! I then scoffed a slice of white Shock toast with a scrape of chocolate spread Blush so I reckon I've hit my 15syns!

Tomorrow will just have to be very virtuous!
