Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

Tinder, have you kept up w ith how many syns you've had so far this week? (and day do you weigh?) You can flexi your syns to be able to go, just takes a little planning! There is loads online on how to syn it (and how to avoid the high syns) so go and enjoy!

ThatBintAgain · 25/01/2013 13:23

Hello again - I've been on holiday and there was only bread and cheese based food so I'm hoping I can rectify any damage by WI next week.

Off to catch up on the thread... Grin

Thankyou all for the reassurance re my 0.5lb off last week. I weighed in this thurs and lost 2.5lbs so I'm chuffed with that, 5.5lbs in 3 weeks :-) however this week I'm not expecting a loss as its my birthday tomorrow so I'm goin out to a Vietnamese restaurant will try to make healthy choices still (steamed rice?) but not going to deprive myself. I just hope I don't put any on this week.

Well done everyone on your losses this week. Welcome turkey

Good morning!

Well done me, blondes and everyone else. Have a great birthday meal out!

I was a bit fed up yesterday when I weighed in and no change. Got on the scales this morning and I am down 2lb which I'm much happier with Smile. Have managed ok this week and I'm now determined to keep going (which wasn't what I was feeling yesterday!).

We are also having a 'dry' January but there is a bottle of prosecco in the fridge with my name on it for next Friday night!

My SW cookbook has also arrived - at first glance there are some yummy recipes...

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2013 17:30

enjoy tomorrow me

if any nice meat/mince recipes in there then can you post, thanks bean

androbbob · 26/01/2013 19:57

Evening all! Some good losses going on. Decided to keep to my Mon WI for now as it focuses my mind on a sunday evening! Full of cold at the moment so not really eating properly.

Just about to plan my weeks food before I order my online shop. Two busy nights are Tues and Wed when get in by 4.45is and have to be out by 6.30 and 6pm so need to know what I am cooking then.

Planning to write everything down this week so hopefully will get a good start on 4th Feb WI. Thats my plan!

Tindertree · 27/01/2013 12:47

Aargh no internet, so a tardy thanks slim - I shall check for future reference (he's very keen on nandos). In the end I went for the spicy rice and removed the chicken skin, so on the food front all was okay, I think. Had a flexible syns moment on the wine, though; it was a bit of a celebration. So, from now on no more wine syns for me!

Hope you've had a lovely weekend blondes Grin

Grrr to these dratted colds - hope you're feeling better soon androbob.

me, glad you're feeling back on track, that's great!

SalagadooLamagicaboo · 27/01/2013 13:55

I have been doing slimming world for a few months and lost 8,5 pound.

I started eating muller light yogurts but realised there is gelatine in them that I cannot have,

Does anyone knows of low fat yogurts that do not have gelatine in them?

Or ideas on snacks (sweet ones) which are free or very low syns value?

Tindertree · 27/01/2013 14:43

Hi salagadoo, I don't think the yeo valley ones have gelatin, but I don't have any to hand so you'd need to check. They are not free, but pretty low in syns.

Me23 · 27/01/2013 15:41

Thanks everyone! salagadoo I can't have gelatine either so I have activia snack pots nearly all of them are free on Sw but one or two are about half a syn.

Nicocacola · 27/01/2013 17:11

Hi everyone, I'm feeling a bit disheartened today and found this thread so thought I'd come for a rant :)

Joined SW on 2nd Jan, sts first week (star week), lost 2lb then 1.5lb so only 3.5 in 3 weeks! I've been sticking to the plan but last night went out for a meal for friends birthday and even though I tried to be good by choosing the healthiest options I feel cheated as my main was really oily and they served my starter with bread which is really hard for me to resist :( I'm worried now that I'm not going to lose again when I already seem to be losing so slowly!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2013 17:49

tbh its very rare to lose nothing the first week, even if star week so not sure what happened there

but

3.5lbs in 3 weeks isnt bad, thats an average of a lb a week which is a healthy weight loss, ikwym as im generally a lb a week girl and its hard when othersare losing say 4/5/6lbs a week

Nicocacola · 27/01/2013 19:08

It wasn't fun being the only person to not lose at least 4.5lbs! Kept a food diary and my consultant couldn't understand it either and put it down to me eating lots of crap the week before! Even though I'm sticking to the plan religiously it just seems to be happening so slowly, annoying when others seem to be able to cheat freely all weekend and still lose 2lb+ at WI!

Justtheonemore · 27/01/2013 20:17

Hi everyone Smile

I joined SW mid September last year. As of last Thursday I've lost 3 stone 1 lb. Very pleased with my progress.

I've tried lots of different weight loss plans but afterwards the weight always crept back on. I really feel SW is helping me to automatically choose healthier options, I feel much more confident in my ability to keep it off this time.

I tend to mix it up with free meals - chilli, curry, spag bol, shepherds pie etc, all made with a tonne of super free veg. I'm one of those people that feels a bit deprived without my treats Blush so I save my syns for those mainly.

Good luck this week!

beanandspud · 27/01/2013 20:19

Salagadoo I like the Shape 'delight' ones - apple crumble and rhubarb crumble. They are 0.5 syns each and don't have gelatine.

Nicocacola. As Blondes said, an average of 1lb a week is steady and sustainable. Someone said earlier up the thread that on other diets it was amazing to lose 6lb in a week but much less amazing when it piles back on even more quickly. I think most of us have had 'slow' weeks but please don't give up, we're a friendly bunch on here so please do join us.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2013 20:42

well done just

nicolaare you eating your syns?

androbbob · 27/01/2013 21:33

ooh getting nervous - its WI day tomorrow morning. Really hoping for a maintain or sneaky half pound off, but whatever the result I will draw a line under it and move onwards.

This cold is lingering now and now frankly being an irritant! DH of course has one which is far worse than mine! DC have managed to escape so far.

Need to get the pen out and write down everything this week and reap the results next week at WI.

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoyed their weekends.

smellylittleorange · 27/01/2013 23:15

Think am putting on tomorrow , neeed to plan as well. Lets just say dry january has been broken and I have not cooked all weekend and my willpowe r wained big time Blush

BadRoly · 28/01/2013 09:51

Morning Smile

I am starting to struggle big time with my syns - I think Friday's pain au raisin has buggered my head up Confused

Anyhow, dc3 has asked if we can have Chinese takeaway on Weds night for tea. I don't want to but wondered if anyone could recommend a child friendly noodle dish please? They don't especially like sweet and sour though...

I have a question about the website and syns too. I am struggling to find the syn value of things at times, is this a cunning ploy by SW to make me buy the food directory book thing?

beanandspud · 28/01/2013 10:11

Good Morning!

Not sure if this helps but the only way I am keeping going is by planning a week of meals at a time so that I know that breakfast, lunch and dinner are almost syn-free (or using healthy extras) and then I have the rest of my syns as snacks. Before Christmas we would work day-to-day for meals and inevitably by Thursday I would get to the 'can't be bothered' point and order a takeaway, it was a downward slope then to the weekend!

If you need something sweet the Bakewell Tart Alpen bars are lovely - 3 syns each or you can have two a day as a heB.

BadRoly - I would probably order something like chicken chow mein or stir-fry chicken and vegetables for DS if we were having Chinese. If you are doing Chinese at home PM me your email and I will try to send you some SW Chinese recipes.

As for syns, I usually google 'how many syns in....' and mostly it points to a minimins forum that gives me the answers! suspect it is also a cunning ploy to get you to buy the directory Grin

Blondes I made Kofta curry yesterday with mince 'meatballs' for DH and DS (I don't eat meat). It went down well if you would like that one?
