New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

Lucy beans are carbarama, sadly. It feels weird cutting pulses out as we're always told that lentils etc are a great source of protein. There's a substantial carb content alongside that protein though.

mumat39 that's a shame about the yogurt. I've had to retrain the way I think about breakfasts as I'm not good with eggs in the morning. I now just treat it as another meal and not restrict myself to breakfasty stuff. I often have leftover dinner for breakfast (which sometimes tastes even better the next day) I had leftover beef shin curry this morning Grin

Thank you all for advice re cheese etc. lightbulb moment today, realise the diet I thought of as healthy was v heavy on pulses, root veg, peppers etc so I guess that has all been turning to sugar...

This thread is amazing, so supportive and such good advice, I was so despondent in the run up to Xmas and I really had a blow out but to have so many others in the same boat is filling me with optimism.

Can recommend Harcombe, I did it for a while, but didn't lose my final pounds until I cut out porridge for breakfast and all fruit.

Cannot reiterate enough that the BEST thing about this WOE is that you can eat big, hearty meals and are never hungry.

Been to gym this morning, and have just spent the best part of an hour catching up on this thread! Phew....

Lunch will be a smoked salmon and cheese omelette. Thankfully I can eat loads of cheese, cream and yoghurt and it doesn't impede my weight maintenance at all. I might reduce it if I wanted to lose more though....

I'm not on MFP, are many of us?

So far today I've had:

B- 1 black coffee
Ham slices with cheese

L - chunks of chicken breast with salad and mayo

and 2l of water so far.

Thanks for the dressing tips, I don't usually have it but thought I might get bored.
Just had 2 smallish slices of sugar free wheaten bread Blush with butter and cheese. Going to have my soup tonight.

Feel a bit nauseous and headachey still.
I bougt new scales so I'll weight myself tomorrow

Ok, I'm in!
I need to get fit and eat better. The only diet I've done before was Dukan and tbh I probably lost weight due to starvation rather than anything else!
I'm a bit worried, you can cheese and lose weight? I love cheese and butter! I love meat and veg too, I'm in disbelief I can actually eat!
Is there a list of allowed foods? I found the allowed carbs list.
I binged over Xmas, really binged! I need to lose weight I have huge boobs and a huge tummy.
I have just got some running shoes so I'll be running twice a week- doing couch to 5k. I'll be going for an hour's walk once to twice a week too.
I'm hoping this diet will sort my awful 4pm dips and general rubbish energy levels. Do have 3 under 3 mind! I will find it hard to drink the 2L of water some days I don't have more than one glass! I know it's really important on this diet to drink a lot so I shall, force it down!

Ok, Im all set to go! Im going to start on Saturday, I cant wait until Monday, too eager to get started! Have LC'ed in the past and LOVED how I felt. I hate this carb bloat :(

I have coconut oil, chromium, green tea and my recipe books all set & ready to go. Just have to get past DHs birthday on Friday.

I'm in!

Thought i wrote this post last nighy but i cant see it now!
I'd like to lose another stine which is what i lost on a previous bootcamp! I have more than that to lose, anythings an achievement tho isnt it :)

B- 2 scrambled eggs
L- pork belly slices with 2 booled eggs, mixed leaf salad, cucumber and a sprinkling of parmesan!
D- undecided of yet!

I would also like to say that last nught my sweet cravings were mad!! I didnt give in tho... Even got up this morning and went on the treadmill... For 2 mins lol.. I cant get used to the incline it has on it :-/ x

I'm in. OTTMummA, need to lose 8st overall, but would like to aim for 2st loss in 10 weeks bootcamp. I have a 5 month old DD so am on ml until April, lost all pregnancy weight quickly but have started to put back on. Also have a history of back. Pelvic and leg pain. Am on a budget though so need cheap meals.

hi welcome to all the newbies! this plan makes you feel so much more relaxed i think, than low fat plans where u feel like constantly snacking and a bit more anxious (me anyway)

im also struggling to keep up with the thread. life is hecticallly busy at the minute.

im doing ok at the minute, still my main problem is sometimes giving in, which would be ok if the times that i gave in were planned and in control. but the times i give in are usually under stress, and not in control and i eat too much when i do it. so my aim is to cut these down and out.

if anyone has any suggestions when you are tired at night and stressed and feel like just blowing it let me know... dd is becoming a handful at night, she won't go to bed, is up late every night and is hyper bouncing off the walls. i get more and more stressed and feel like turning to comfort eating, which of course is the wrong thing. i feel like i can't do anything to distract myself, cos you can't when you have a 15 month old - except watch tv and play, which to me are not distractions. apart from going out, does anyone have any solutions? im trying to rewire my brain to not turn to food when stressed.

but thanks to Biwi and everyone else for all the support cos this time last year i was still low fat and my attitudes have changed so much since then.

OTT im also on a budget. im lucky as there is only me to 'cook' for, but i save loads by having lots of tinned fish meals which are sooo cheap, and egg meals (omelette, scrambled eggs with cheese, cheesy broccoli etc). also i have taken the advice here and looked for marked down meat towards the end of the day and then frozen it, this has worked well, plus going to lidl.

stylelostinlabour tried finding you on mfp with same username but not on there.

I'm currently dr biffy's book escaping the diet trap and its very interesting. All the years ive been on weight watchers, slimmingworld, counting calories and for what? Im the heaviest now I've ever been, weighted myself yesterday and I'm 13 stone 1 Shock
I think I will start bootcamp saturday now as I really feel disgusting and don't want to wait any longer to deflate :)

Hello all. I would love to join you all. Lost 3 stone, 3 years ago and have managed to regain a stone of that. Time for action! Would love to lose 2 stone. I did a month of low carbing before Christmas and really got on well with it. I'm also training for a half marathon so it will be interesting to see how I manage that while low carbing, because I've been rather two fond of carb loading before runs in the past!
