New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

Humancatapult Forgot to say - I found sparkling water was a really good replacement for stuff like that. I haven't drunk soft drinks in years since I discovered that lil' trick. Something about the bubbles tricks the brain into thinking it's almost the same experience. (Though admittedly it takes a while for said 'trick' to work!)

Toomuch That is good news! Shock

ArfAPandaTreacle · 31/12/2012 19:44

Evening all!

I have 2 questions.

1- I have a lamb casserole recipe, but it involves 2tsp of tom puree and 2tbsp of tom ketchup do you think small amounts in a huge casserole would be ok? It also has potato and parsnips but Id just not serve myself those, would that be ok?

2- Im on a tight budget so looking for cheap cuts of meat. I was told lamb neck, looked in Tesco and it was £7!! Am I doing something wrong? Would a butchers be cheaper?

cocolepew · 31/12/2012 19:53

Unfortunately lamb is expensive, I had lamb rump steaks yesterday . There was 4 in a packet but 2 were small. It was £6 or 2 for £10 in Sainsburys.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 31/12/2012 19:53

Teen - eating out is, IMHO, much easier on this woe. And no need for anyone to notice you're low carbing! Pizza and pasta restaurants aren't the easiest, but even they usually have some kind of salad option.

Back on the straight and narrow today after putting on 4lbs over the festive season. Have been pee-ing for England today so hopefully the scales will show a downward trend in the morning.

Welcome to all the newbies!

cocolepew · 31/12/2012 19:55

Some of the butchers over here (NI) do bundles of meat and it works out much cheaper. We have loads of butchers here still.

thenightsky · 31/12/2012 19:56

Oh Christ on a Bike... I got on the scales this morning Shock

I have put on 5lbs in this last week Shock

That is on top of the stone I already needed to lose Sad

ArfAPandaTreacle · 31/12/2012 20:00

BIWI oh wise one Grin would you mind seeing questioms, just oop there

ArfAPandaTreacle · 31/12/2012 20:01

*seeing my questions, even.

Chocberry · 31/12/2012 20:08

I really really need this! I am too scared to weigh myself at the moment but have about 2.5 to 3 stone to lose. I'm 5ft 5 and weighed 12.10 before christmas. I have PCOS and think I'm insulin resistant too.
I weighed 11.5 stone this time last year, my hormones are out of control at the moment and I have developed acne too :(
I have a terrible sugar addiction and it really is making me ill.
I am scared I will end up diabetic.
So will weigh myself on the 6th and start bootcamp on the 7th. I've never done low card before but have done every other diet on earth.
So is this basically atkins diet then?
Will add myself to the list.

Teeb i am not really an 'out and proud' low carber, so if i'm eating out and ask for no chips or something, i just say i don't really fancy them and ask for more butter for my veg (diet? what diet?!)

Kracken · 31/12/2012 20:18

Hello, I'm in!! I've done lots of lurking on the previous bootcamp threads and been really impressed with the weightloss achieved and the great support posters give each other. I've just read IPD. Not sure what I weigh as scales need new batteries but I'm guessing 11 and a half stone ish and want to get down to 10 stone. Roll on 7 Jan!

NoveltySlippers · 31/12/2012 20:58

humancatapult Oh yes, I do empathise... For example, I'm about to drink my body weight in cheap Cava now.

thewhistler · 31/12/2012 21:03

Please may I join? We are off to a wedding in Asia in a couple of days but back on 7 th and I have stones and stones to lose. And pcos.

My mother, always slim, used to say that carbs were only necessary if you were doing a physical job. But I am near addicted to them.

So here goes. On 7th.

cocolepew · 31/12/2012 21:37

Ummm, do you pee a lot with this WOE?

MulledwineGless · 31/12/2012 21:51

Arf

Have you looked for breast of lamb? It is in sainsburys basic range
I try and look in the oopsie bin in shops for meat and go to Aldi/lidl

I think that small amount of tomato will be fine- that's how much I use and Been ok

TheHumancatapult · 31/12/2012 22:09

cocolepew · 31/12/2012 22:36

I didn't think it was possible for me to pee any more than I did.

How wrong I was.

ArfAPandaTreacle · 31/12/2012 22:44

Thanks Mulled!

borninastorm · 31/12/2012 23:04

Just been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance so I'll be starting low gi in mid jan (after second round of blood tests and docs advice) can I still join if I'm doing low gi rather than full on low carb?

Ive got about 3 stone to lose (approx).

Cos it's insulin resistance I'll also be starting an exercise program. Hoping the pounds fall off Smile
