Being stuck inside cos of coughs and snow is not doing much for my diet :-(

NanoNinja · 20/01/2013 16:01

Being stuck inside is a killer on both fronts - no exercise and more likely to eat. Just had friends for lunch - wine, cake and ice cream! Whoops. Still, made a rainy day brighter and gives me more motivation for next week.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1661988-Best-domestic-cheats-please-share

thats domestic cheats thread i was reading for tips on how to keep my flat organised!!

I tried to be good-ish this weekend. I'll weigh myself in a bit, but yesterday when i weighed myself i'd put on 200g!!!!arghhhhhhhhhh

WaitingForMe · 21/01/2013 07:42

Another week and another 1lb down. I might start doing one of DHs pilates DVDs - they're 10 mins and there's one for abs.

I can't face starting The Shred yet. DS has been so restless I spend hours rocking him, mostly holding him tight and dancing to pop songs - my thighs are really toned from all the dips I do.

Iheartpasties · 21/01/2013 08:20

I weighed in at 71.1kg (0.5 lost/1.1 pounds lost this week) TOTAL SO FAR = 3.9 pounds.

TheTiger · 21/01/2013 08:51

1lb off, now 9 stone 9, 3 pounds to go to reach target 1.

Beng stuck inside coz of the snow is rubbish. Can't get out for a walk, and finding it tough to resist the biscuits that DH has been scoffing all weekend!

TheTiger · 21/01/2013 08:53

Well done pikz, nervous, waiting and pasties!

tearoomtrash · 21/01/2013 09:18

Bloody Hell!

I've GAINED 2Ib! So in three weeks I've gained 3Ib!!!

A typical day (genuinely!):

Breakfast - porridge made with soy milk with some dried fruit mixed in, a piece of fresh fruit, pint of water
Snack - small handful of mixed seeds
Lunch - homemade soup (always veg based) and toasted pitta
Snack - piece of fresh fruit or glass of fruit pressed fruit juice
Dinner - something from hairy dieters, measured to the gram
(Have been logging

I have drank 8 250ml glasses of water every day religiously.

Not exercising apart from the odd leisurely walk so not gaining muscle.

WHY WHY WHY am I gaining weight????? Please help me before I throw my scales out of the window...

tearoomtrash · 21/01/2013 09:19

*have been logging my calories on MFP and sticking to 1200 roughly per day

I haven't unpacked or even found which box the scales are in yet Shock my clothes feel baggier though. Please don't just be wishful thinking!!!

CandyPop · 21/01/2013 10:06

tea i cant see anything wrong with your food diary. give it another week.... looks pretty healthy to be me so it should start working soon . fingers crossed for you

NanoNinja · 21/01/2013 10:31

Hi, well done to all the losers and maintainers. And tearoom, that looks like a super healthy diet, I'd be really proud of myself if I managed that. I guess possible suggestions are (and I'm far from an expert...)

  • too much sugar ( in the fruit)?
  • need more fat / protein?
  • not enough cals?
  • need more time?
  • just natural fluctuation - water, breast feeding related, etc?

Wrt the last one, I'm down 0.8 kg to 57 kg (start weight 58.5) this week. But diet not been great, and I think that a lot of the change is just natural fluctuation.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 21/01/2013 11:22

On the upside, I lost 2lbs, so now 10st 4lbs. On the downside, I realised that the 10stone target isn't going to be enough as I definitely have more than 4lbs of muffin top/bra bulge left. Adjusted target to 9st 10lbs so 8lbs to go. Reckon I can shift it at a lb a week. Haven't had the time or energy for any formal exercise but really trying to walk everywhere. Kind of failed on dry January (had Sake on Saturday night and a glass of champagne at my friend's DD's 1st birthday party yesterday) but still proud of myself for not drinking at home for 3 weeks now. I've actually lost all compulsion to, whereas I used to reach for a vino the second I had got DS in bed. Only ever had one glass but I think it has added up over the weeks.

Tearoom Keep at it. I reckon next week you'll suddenly lose 7lbs or something. I did find that for the first 3 months after having DD my fluid levels fluctuated a lot- I think it's as your body sorts itself out and puts everything back where it was.

utopian99 · 21/01/2013 11:38

Fitting into three pairs of pre-pg jeans but having gone down to 10st 10.5oz am now 10st 12! Really a bit pissed off although not been eating healthily (far too much extra dairy milk) so no excuse. Also weighing after big supper out last night but still - NO EXCUSES. Angry

Will be looking into my exercise dvds this aft.

tearoomtrash · 21/01/2013 11:54

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I'm going to keep going, but perhaps swap some of the fruit for some veg instead, like carrot sticks or something. So frustrating! One a positive note though, my skin seems to be looking better so at least that's something...

Well done losers and maintainers! X

YellowWellies · 21/01/2013 12:38

tea are you BF? Some Mummies find it impossible to lose weight whilst nursing. That's my excuse De jour anyhooo! Wink

tearoomtrash · 21/01/2013 13:22

No I'm not anymore, I'm weaning and have switched to formula ready for returning to work (my little angel is 6 months, so not exactly a new mum anymore I suppose...).

I did find that I lost a fair amount of weight in the first few months without trying hard. I went from a size 18 to a 14. A bit of effort was then required to get from 14-12 and then the christmas excess happened - now I seem stuck. My pre-pregnancy wardrobe is size 8 so that's what I'm working towards (I'm only 5ft and don't carry weight well at all - I ate ALOT during pregnancy Blush)

I know it will take time, and I'd be happy just to lose Ib a week, it's the gaining that's driving me nuts Angry

crazypaving · 21/01/2013 14:52

hi. back from my holiday and back to starting weight. with the snow and all I'm feeling discouraged, uninspired and unmotivated. I just want to
magic the fat off Sad and still eat chocolate. I suppose that's the definition of having cake and eating...

VisualiseAHorse · 21/01/2013 15:54

Sounds like the snow isn't helping our cases!! I can't even get the buggy out of the house because there is so much snow here. LO hasn't been outside for 2 days!!

Anyone else doing the Shred? I'm on day 5 of the second level and still really struggling with it. I got a stitch today, and couldn't finish as I was in so much pain. Does it get easier??

projectbabyweight · 21/01/2013 19:17

Oh dear it's all gone a bit wrong... I seem to have no willpower left to eat well after looking after a toddler and 10wo all day. I'm weighing in tomorrow and I'm sure I've gained this past week Sad

I think I could really benefit from a diet buddy, someone to pm/email/text once a day or something, to report how I've done - anyone up for this?

Iheartpasties · 21/01/2013 21:04

tea your diet looks fab - healthy and balanced, massive well done to you because it sounds like you have done really well in the last 6 months in total. I don't know what to suggest to you really? Perhaps cutting down on carbs, the no carbers seem to do pretty well ( on the no carbs thread) they have a good recipe thread that I read the other day - some recipes sounded really nice!

I need to resist coca cola today - I'm meeting a friend at a pub for lunch, it's got a soft play area that the toddlers love. I always have a coke when im there! Normally always have chips too! Agh! We'll see how I go!!

Iheartpasties · 21/01/2013 21:06

Yellow hope your move went well.

INeedThatForkOff · 22/01/2013 07:56

Morning Wibblers. I've been mad busy with marking and DCs so haven't thought about this. Did a quick check this morning though and am still losing slowly despite not exercising or thinking about dieting. Will WI properly and update stats on Thurs. Sorry, no time to read the thread.

kirrinIsland · 22/01/2013 09:19

Forgot to weigh in yesterday, but no worries cos there's no change! Tbh I'm just glad there's no gain as I haven't done very well this week.

No pain no gain eh visualise !! (what would I know, my shred is still in the box)
