I've just reset to lose 1lb a week (1200), had been on 1/2lb (1420) but nothing's shifted this week so will try to give things a kickstart for a week or two.

I'm not BFing though and only have 3-4lbs to lose.

foreverondiet · 05/01/2013 22:59

Hi all! I am back Blush as gained just over half stone in latter part of last year. Doing mfp with low(ish) carb unprocessed food.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 05/01/2013 23:31

I'm on 1lb a week as although a lot to lose I've got til June to do it and hoping that's reasonable.

Have been very lax with my diary this weekend, must improve next week.

Hope everyone's doing well :)

lunar1 · 06/01/2013 09:22

6 days in and I have lost 5lbs, probably mostly water but I'm happy. My calorie limit is quite high at 2000 but I have so much to lose and am quite active as I walk 6 miles a day for the school run.

I did think about reducing the calories but I need to make sure I can stick to it. I'm sure in a few weeks I will have got used to eating less and at that point I will probably reduce the calories, I have been under by a few hundred every day though.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Today will be a test for
My, shopped yesterday so we have loads of food in, including large amounts of reduced Christmas goodies that dh picked up Confused

Groovee · 06/01/2013 10:21

Hi everyone,

I've had a dodgy 3 weeks but I have a new starting weight from today and am sorted with being back on plan. I have 24 weeks until we go to Florida. Shopping done, fruit all prepped and daily food planning done.

I've taken my measurements for today and will go from there.

Hope you are all well. Welcome to anyone who is new. I am Grooveecar on MFP if anyone would like to add me.

magicalrealistmum · 06/01/2013 10:34

Hi all
a belated happy new year!
I am an mfp user (DizziD) and occasional poster on this thread- I am most inspired and motivated by all your losses and tips when I get chance to logon. Feel free to add me on mfp.

I have lost about 11lb with mfp and have the same amount to go. I have gained 5 lb in last couple of months, so would like to get this off first. I aim to log daily and reduce sugar/carbs. I am of an age when all excess calories seem to go straight to fat.......... After a certain age I think you just need to eat less to stay the same weight!

My aim is to introduce one more exercise (swim/gym/class) and to watch my evening calorie intake. I am back at work tomorrow and I cycle there and back (5 miles a day). I will spend the next few weeks trying to find an optimum time to fit in a couple of swims. At the moment I am favouring weekend mornings. How do others fit in exercise when working full time with family?

well done on your loss lunar

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2013 10:49

I go to running club once a week which is 6.30-7.30 Mon or Weds and that day dh does dinner and I get in just to put boys to bed. One other evening I run after they've gone to bed and then one run at the weekend, which over the last few weeks has been 8.30am Saturday magicalrealistmum.

Hi all, I am completely new to this but going to give it a go. I am just over 13 and a half stone and would like to be ten. Haven't really got to grips with mfp yet but thought if I posted on here one or two people might join me for the ride. My username is the same as on here.

FellowshipOfFineFellows · 06/01/2013 13:10

It told me off yesterday for not eating enough calories. I had 3 meals in the day as normal but have cut out biscuits and crisps, swapping for sultanas to snack on instead.

I also found out my actual weight yesterday, dp said our bathroom scales were buggered but I thought he was trying to make me feel better! Weighed myself on a proper scales and instead of weighing 14 stone I weight just over 12. Given me even more momentum to lose 3 stone now.

MegBusset · 06/01/2013 16:17

Wow two stones instant loss, that's great Grin

BoraBora · 06/01/2013 16:32

Am going to start a Pilates with babies class tomorrow. Weirdly anxious and nervous! What's that all about??

FellowshipOfFineFellows · 06/01/2013 19:17

That's the quickest I'll ever lose two stone. Unless I win the Lottery and have lipo.

mrsnec · 06/01/2013 19:30

Hi All, am new to this thread and new to MFP can I join you? Put in all todays food and activity and I have about 500 cals left? Might have an extra snack but it says my weight loss will slow down if I don't consume their calculation. This has probably been discussed before but what's the general opinion on this? I'm mrsnecincy on mfp.

DharmaBumpkin · 06/01/2013 19:41

MrsN I would snack if you're hungry, not snack if you're not! I don't think there's a rule or anything though, if you've eaten enough to be full then fab.

My question for the more knowledgeable - I have lost 2.2 kg which I have tracked on the chart tab, but my profile is still showing as no loss! Anyone know why? All my settings are to share with friends, and I don't understand!

It's all about wounded pride... I've lost weight dagnabbit, I want to see that in writing!! Wink

mrsnec · 06/01/2013 20:14

Thanks it's just a bit confusing as it altered my target and I know a lot of the well known diets bang on about eating more to achieve goal. Was a bit peckish had something small but I'm leaving it at that. I'll get used to it. Don't know anything about the technical side but that would annoy me too and well done!

jchocchip · 06/01/2013 20:37

Marking place. Must clear out all the chocolate and start eating cleaner... Maybe I'll even dust off the shred ooer Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2013 21:49

What is your starting weight DharmaBumpkin? Is it different to your current weight? Did you click accept after you put your new weight in? Other than that I don't know what could be wrong.

mrsnec the theory is that you should not go under 1200 calories or you will put your body into starvation mode but other things say that starvation mode kicks in much lower, thinking about the 5:2 diets. I don't think it hurts now and again but on a diet lower than that it is very difficult to be eating enough to get all the protein, vitamins and minerals you need every day.

Have fun BoraBora, I did baby yoga with my first and loved it. Didn't really make any friends from it but ds1 and I had great fun. Couldn't do it with ds2 as I only had 3 weeks off so bought a dvd and we did it at home :)

mrsnec · 07/01/2013 05:55

Thanks cinnamon. I read the 5:2 thread and it was the science behind that that confused me. When I had my extra snack it took me between 1200 and my 1600 goal so I'll aim for something like that. Thanks for your help everyone.

DharmaBumpkin · 07/01/2013 06:20

Starting weight 3 kg more than my current weight, entered all losses & clicked accept, and my graph is showing the right weights, so I don't know what happened!

Stupidly, it updated today after I entered a weight loss, saying that I lost 0.6kg today and have lost 0.4kg to date! Yeah that makes sense!

Still am happy that it's updating now :)

lunar1 · 07/01/2013 09:15

First full week for me, looking forward to getting into a proper routine when ds1 is back at school on Wednesday.

Going out for lunch today so having a very light breakfast! Hope everyone is doing ok. If anyone wants to add me it's Lunar1980

mutley1 · 07/01/2013 17:51

lunar1 · 07/01/2013 18:23

sparkleshine · 07/01/2013 22:05

Hiya ladies and all newcomers. Welcome to MFP.

Well today day 1 back on the diet. So far so good. My SIL has re-started back on it as well following the birth of my niece 12 wks ago. She lost 4 stone at the same time as me before she got pregnant and has 2 stone to lose. It really helped having someone to do it with, which is prob why I went off the rails.

Also decided to scrap the gym and go walking/running instead. Much cheaper. I just have no confidence to go out in public with my flabby bits jiggling and feel like people are watching me. How do you get past that?
Also gonna take my son for swimming lessons so that's a little more excersise too.

I wouldn't go below 1200 cals a day. I'm trying to stick to 1300-1400 and that seems to help me. But then it depends on how hungry you are. As the days go by you will get to know how much you and your body can tolerate without feeling hungry. To suddenly go from normal eating to 1200 a day is a huge drop. Healthy snacks help to build the cals without feeling full. Dried fruit is great to pick at.

BehindLockNumberNine · 07/01/2013 22:28

Day one done. I had forgotten how hard I this is.... Really struggled and got very hungry after dinner.

I hope I get back into the swing of it again soon.

Groovee · 08/01/2013 08:49

Morning all

Finding eating hard as I am on antibiotics which need me to eat for each tablet which is 4 times a day. Finding it hard to have the right amount of food to stop me feeling bleurgh.

But not as hungry as I once was.

But how do you add people via their username? Mine is only letting me add emails or facebook.
