wheredidiputit please tell me your about 7 stone Shock or just tell me what your typical days food is lols im on 1200 calories and i struggle to not eat into my exercise cals

mfp app keeps saying its no longer installed on my phone everytime ive tried to use it today very annoying i must say

Niceupthedance i dont have the fitbit but it looks really good let us know how good it is once you get it and have tried it out

BsshBossh · 30/06/2012 20:03

Hi all. What total calories are you on, excluding exercise cals? I started on 1200 but found it hard to stay that low on non-exercise days so have upped it to 1540 cals per day for 1lb weekly loss. I think this is more sustainable for me in the longterm as I'm less likely to give up. On exercise days (3 times a week) I'm burning 444 cals but am now not having to eat these as 1540 cals per day is very satisfactory.

tostaky · 30/06/2012 20:06

I googled fitbit because I didn't know what it was.... Seems really good....Smile

Had a good day today but the day is not over yet... Need to keep to what I planned for dinner and ignore whatever is in the fridge...!!!

tostaky · 30/06/2012 20:19

Bsshbssh - I'm on 1480 but I'm breastfeeding (not sure how many calories I "burn" through breastfeeding though? Anyone has any ideas?)

savy57 · 30/06/2012 20:27

BsshBossh im on 1200 as well i try to burn atleast 400 a day but i do 9 times out of 10 pretty much eat all of these as well and ive stayed the same weight now for agggggeeeeesss and its really depressing so think i either need to sew my mouth up or try burn atleast 1000 calories a day

BsshBossh · 30/06/2012 21:02

I keep reading that very low calorie diets cause stalls so that is why I increased my calories. There's an interesting forum thread on MFP that discusses increasing calories to lose weight. Link here

Certainly I know that if I can eat more calories so I am not so hungry but keep the calories no less than around 500 below what I need to maintain my current weight then I will still lose weight yet not fall off the diet wagon as I am not hungry all the time/still feel satisfied and full.

BsshBossh · 30/06/2012 21:04

Just to clarify, I've increased my cals from 1200 to 1540, excluding exercise calories which I won't always eat back.

LollipopViolet · 30/06/2012 21:07

I'm on 1440, and usually have about 400 left on a good day.

cinnamongreyhound · 30/06/2012 21:35

savy57 I have 1360 and a typical day would be porridge/shredded wheat for breakfast, half a tin of soup and bread/ left over meat with bread or crackers or breadsticks and cherry tomatoes/houmous and pitta with tomatoes for dinner I have the same as my family spag Bol/curry/ meat pots and veg but just a smaller portion. I also usually have 200+ cals in snacks and have recently started trying eat to eat fruit with each meal.

tostaky you add breastfeeding to your diary, go into any meal and search in food for bf. Seems like you get 500 calories for ebf.

I've kept in calories this weekend but I'm eating more than usual, had a girls night in last night and ate quite a few crisps/Doritos, today I took the kids to McDonald's and tomorrow we are at my mums for dss's birthday and he's asked for Chinese as his choice of meal, no great for me! Ran yesterday, walked and managed a bit of proper swimming while dh had the kids in the pool today and hoping to run tomorrow too. Plus it's my totm so I'm more inclined to eat more!!

RGPargy · 30/06/2012 23:07

Woohoo!! Got my bike today from Evans. Had a quick ride around the carpark and it felt loooooverly! Going for a little 15 mile ride tomorrow to see how it fairs (after the gym lol). Cannot wait!!

The bike is HERE

:o :o

cybbo · 30/06/2012 23:32

I've lost half a stone in 5 weeks on this. I love it

BsshBossh · 01/07/2012 07:41

He bike looks lovely, RG :)

Unfortunley not. If I was then the doctor would be happy.

I just don't eat very much so my body has been in stavation mode so has stored fat. So now I need to eat more as well as exersize more to my body working properly.

CarpeJugulum · 01/07/2012 08:55

Put on what I've taken off and more.

Normally this would discourage me and I'd quit - but I know you guys will nag me if I do, so I'm going to scratch today off as well and start again on Monday. (Although I won't blow out today, but I will relax and get the eat crap out of my system!)

LollipopViolet · 01/07/2012 11:23

I'm going to bring the Wii downstairs in a bit, so I can do Wii Fit on my non gym days. Also that EA Sports Active thing if I can find the discs.

I think I'm addicted to exercise, which is better than being addicted to cake, i suppose...

I'm just going to ignore the Wii Fit scale, cos I KNOW it puts me as lighter than I am on my proper scale.

Niceupthedance · 01/07/2012 11:50

Bss I am on 1470 cals which is really reasonable and I don't tend to go over unless I'm having a bad day. I also do gym twice a week and wii Zumba and don't eat my exercise cals unless I'm starving.

RG you have got me looking at bikes now! I live right next to a canal with a lovely long 17 mile stretch, and I could get a back seat for DS, he would love it.

LollipopViolet · 01/07/2012 12:56

Hmm, can't find all the bits to the Wii, so I'm going to attempt starting the Shred, seeing as it's the 1st today.

It's going to kill me, isn't it?

brighthair · 01/07/2012 13:16

Ok how long was it until everyone started losing?

tostaky · 01/07/2012 16:00

Cinnamon - thanks for telling me about where to find the breastfeeding calories. I also did a bit of research and I think I wasn't eating enough... I did notice that my milk supply was lower but did not make the link..
So I've upped my intake from 1400-ish to 1700.

CarpeJugulum · 01/07/2012 16:18

Okay. Based on my lifestyle I'm on 1200 calories, and therefore doing exercise to up my allowance.

This week has been bad in eating through circumstances (fighting cold/time of month), but I'm finding I'm feeling a bit woozy even on days when I'm eating over my allowances - nothing major, just conscious of being hungry all the time and I think my blood pressure/ blood sugar levels are dropping; I had this quite a bit in pregnancy and was warned about my levels then.

So, what can I eat - my diary should be visible on MFP, but basically it is as follows:

Up 6am
Breakfast 7.30am - sultana bran
Snack 10.30am - maybe apple or packet of crisps
Lunch 12pm - sandwich/toastie/salad/soup (depending)
Dinner 7.30pm - various options

I know part of the reason is the long gap between lunch and dinner (again circumstance, hopefully this will change soon), but I'm already struggling to meet target - and I have no clue what I can eat; or what I can eat at lunch to "fill" the gap.

Help?!

brighthair · 01/07/2012 16:42

I would say some form of protein. I have low blood sugar (drops rapidly) and its much better when I am low carb
Try to eat whole grain stuff instead of white. Um, boiled egg, Greek yoghurt with cinnamon, handful cooked chicken, apple with crunchy peanut butter (my sweet treat!) Smile

tostaky · 01/07/2012 17:50

I was going to suggest whole grain foods too and proteins.
Also, I used to carry glucose tablets with me at all time (from boots, 12 cals a tablet if I remember well) and had one whenever I felt dizzy.

CarpeJugulum · 01/07/2012 19:05

Hmm. I'm so confused about foods - what's g

CarpeJugulum · 01/07/2012 19:07

Oops Blush that'll teach me to post with DS about Grin

I meant, I have no clue what to eat and what not to eat. I vaguely remember the pie plate from school, but that's hazy...

Must google for some healthy eating books then get from library so I can work out what I need. At the moment, I love carbs, but think more slow release would be good - but don't know what they are.

If anyone knows good food books - let me know please?!
