BIWI thanks for your reply.
i enter all my data onto a website that gives me the calorie / carb (and everything else) breakdown.
That way i can keep my eye on what i'm eating. It also lets me create my recipes and give me all the info that i need for the ingredients.
Drinking more water is a habit i need to get into - am now on my 3rd glass!

AngryFeet · 19/03/2012 17:10

Horrible day today. Horrific indigestion pain since I woke up. Tried to eat and it got worse so have barely eaten all day. Haves tried cider vinegar and gaviscon but not completely relieved yet :(

BIWI · 19/03/2012 17:41

Sorry to hear that, AF Sad I occasionally get indigestion and it's horrible.

Keep swigging the Gaviscon. Can you get hold of some Zantac as well?

AngryFeet · 19/03/2012 18:28

Might be able to get dh to pick some up. Just lay in a hot bath which is helping and trying to find hot water bottle. I know I need to eat or it will get worse but no idea what to eat when low carbing as high fat can set it off.

QueenStromba · 19/03/2012 18:52

How many people does that curry feed Creamtea1? The carb count on the tomato puree alone is 20g.

Hi all, I'm on IPD and was doing great- down about a stone in 3 weeks! Anyway, I started doing this to lose weight for a family wedding which was this weekend.

Had a lovely time at wedding, and actually did well enough, only sin was small piece of cheesecake, and drank vod & sod.

Unfortunately and embarrassingly I got really drunk very quickly Blush and next day I was very hungover. For sheer survival, I HAD to eat lots of toast, chips & sugarWink

When I weighed myself this morning I'd put on 6 lbs!!! Please tell me this is just water weight and will come off again now I'm back on track!!! If I've undone weeks of effort in 2 days, I will be very pissed off....

CointreauVersial · 19/03/2012 19:53

Iatemyskinnyperson - the 6lbs is almost certainly mostly water, plus the sheer bulk of all the carbs still working their way around your digestive system. Don't be disheartened, get back on the wagon!

Londonone - just scoffed your creamy chicken casserole - dead easy and enjoyed by all.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 19/03/2012 20:35

I am really craving something sweet tonight. bugger.

I am not hungry, I have just eaten a lovely roast beef dinner, with curly kale and asparagus.

And I have been drinking lots of water today (coz BIWI will growl at me if I dont) Grin

londonone · 19/03/2012 20:55

Glad you enjoyed it cointreau.

Jax I was the same tonight I had two spoons of whipped double cream with 1/4 teaspoon of truvia and 2 melted squares of 85% green and blacks stirred in. Didn't eat it all, two mouthfuls was enough to sate the craving. It was about 2-3 grams of carbs all in!

noddyholder · 19/03/2012 20:59

Just had lovely saisages and roasted vine tomatoes but was ogling ds mash the whole time and do have that deprived feeling which generally leaves me about day 3 Grin

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 19/03/2012 21:24

yes, I made a sort of mousse last week, in a little ramekin. Heated double cream with 2 squares of G&B 85%, whipped and allowed to cool. I split it into ramekins and let it cool. You are right, 2 spoons is enough.

Will make some later if I still fancy it. Have had glass of water.

Creamtea1 · 19/03/2012 22:00

QueenS- it feeds 4, unless you're really starving. I have done it the first couple without the Tom purée and just used a few regular tomatoes instead- but it felt like it was missing something. You could definetly leave it out/half it etc.

Another fave - courgette spaghetti with blue cheese.

Have drank more tea and water today than ever and managed to ditch 0.8 kilo water weight since this morning, woo hoo!

OhCobblers · 19/03/2012 22:01

I'm still reading through this thread (still in the Feb bit!) but i'm confused over veg. I want to eat a lot but am reading they're quite carb heavy or are there particular ones i should stick to?? I only managed to eat 8g of Carbs today by eating lots of salad and cucmber plus some baby corn!

Would be grateful for some tips as i'm a complete novice to this WOE

TIA

lemniscate · 19/03/2012 22:12

cobblers - green leafy veg is meant to be the lowest carb (and also incredibly good for you). I'm having spinach in my morning omelette and then trying to have lots of rocket, watercress, lettuce, cabbage, kale, bok choi, broccoli etc. Not always succeeding but definitely upped my green veg intake a lot. I'm also eating a lot of cauli as it's low carb and really good in stir fries and curries which I eat a lot.

I'm also eating a lot of aubergine and courgettes which I think are very low.

Root veg best avoided or eaten in small quantities but I think celeriac and maybe turnips and swede are relatively low carb. I want to try the celeriac dauphinoise that somebody mentioned earlier on the thread!

lemniscate · 19/03/2012 22:13

Particularly avoid peas, carrots and sweetcorn I think - all very starchy/sugary

OhCobblers · 19/03/2012 22:25

thanks leminscate that is so helpful.
do you normally weight your veg so you don't go beyond 20g a day or do you roughly know what a handful contains?

OhCobblers · 19/03/2012 22:27

weigh

BornToShopForcedToWork · 20/03/2012 08:04

I am down another 1,5 lbs and very happy about it. My personal trainer was here yesterday for the first time and it was hard. Thanks to the shred i can do 3 sets pf 12 push ups now. Three weeks ago i couldn't do a single proper push up! Thanks JM!

lemniscate · 20/03/2012 08:20

Cobblers, I'm doing the NerIs and India diet where you don't really weigh anything. I've tried weighing and counting before and it drives me insane. So on this I just eat sensible portion sizes and stop when I start to feel full (never used to do this and would end up stuffed, so this is the learning bit for me) I want something sustainable and I couldn't weigh everything out every day forever.

Have had a stall for a few days mainly because of trifle on Sunday and DH putting sugar in Thai food on Saturday. So I reevaluated my diet and realised I'm also having more cups of milky tea, eating a lot of tomato based stuff. So yesterday I cut back on tea, focused on low carb veg and am down over a pound today. I personally find it more educational to try something and then review the effect rather than count as I learn more about what works for my body. I'm trying to make this not a diet as it is a way of eating (as BIWI tells us often Smile) so I'm purposefully not doing diety things (other than weighing myself)

lemniscate · 20/03/2012 08:21

Well done Borntoshop!

Anyone got tips for bad breath? DH is most unimpressed, and we're going away on Thurs for 3 childress nights so I need a solution fast! Grin

AngryFeet · 20/03/2012 08:24

Weigh in number 4 and I am down to 13st 1.75 so 10lb in 4 weeks. Still slow going but people are starting to notice a change in my shape which is nice.

I did eat a piece of bread yesterday as I was so desperate to get rid of the reflux pain. Didn't work annoyingly. Horrible 24 hours of pain which has put me off drinking and smoking for a while but luckily there are no social occasions for the next 3 weeks :)

Am feeling very nervous of eating today so had a little scrambled egg for brekkie. Am off to work soon so will have to grab something for lunch from tesco - really just fancy some sort of chicken soup but doubt I will be able to find a low carb one :(

BIWI · 20/03/2012 08:29

Blush that I appear to have been haranguing you all recently.

BIWI · 20/03/2012 08:31

Maybe I should set up a bootcamp thread instead! Grin

I am inching ever closer to losing my first stone. Scales reading 10.6 3/4 this morning, so just 1 1/4 lbs to go! I would love it to be this week.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 20/03/2012 09:14

oh biwi I was only joking. Grin

But it is good to be reminded WHY we are doing this and the reasons why it works. And so you feel better about telling me to drink more water, yesterday I did and my skin is better already. so thanks for that.

lemni I do the celeriac dauphinoise often, it is so tasty and easy to do.

I thinly slice (about £1 coin width) a celeriac, chop a shallot, layer and chuck some double cream, thinned with water to consistency of single cream over and stick in oven for about 45 mins.

I didnt succumb to my sweet craving last night, made a small cup of bovril and drank water.
