Technically that is good news tortoise although it leaves you abit dazed. But it must be good news there is nothing untowards with the tests Smile

so.......tomorrow is a new day. you don't want to be hungry as that will kill any diet as we all know.

meal plan a week in advance? post it here? ask for ideas if you need? We can beat this, one day, one day......we will not be lardy...... SmileSmileSmile

I lost 0.8kg this week (around 2lbs I reckon). Pleased with that.

Tortoise · 24/01/2012 19:43

Yes, its good news. Especially the pregnancy test! That's the last thing I needed so relieved that was negative.

Also had 2 slices ham and some grapes tonight.

Think I will buy some chicken tomorrow and a jar of sweet and sour sauce for dinner.
Breakfast will probably be jam and butter on toast. Or banana when I have some.
Lots of soup for lunches I guess. Will do online tesco shop this week I think.

Tortoise · 24/01/2012 21:49

10 miles cycle done in 30 mins.Smile
Mug of hot chocolate instead of chocolate bar!
Thinking positive so far. Job centre tomorrow so might grab a low fat wrap in boots for lunch.

Tortoise · 24/01/2012 23:23

My tummy is rumbling! Can't get to sleep. Must stay strong!

Tortoise · 25/01/2012 13:49

Started the day ok but went downhill when I got home about hour ago.
Toast, butter and jam for breakfast.
Sweet chilli chicken wrap, innocent smoothie and bag of grapes from boots.
Then since I got home, 5 penguin and a bag of hula hoops Blush.

Tortoise · 26/01/2012 16:55

Today been ok so far.
Toast x2 for breakfast.
Chicken tillage spread sandwich for lunch
2 penguin bars (oops!).
Soup in minute for tea.

Hope everyone doing ok.

upahill · 26/01/2012 17:02

10 miles cycle done in 30 mins.
Blimey tortoise that is impressive. Too average at 20mph is good going.
What sort of bike is it. I've just got a Kona Lisa and I only managed an average of 14.7mph yesterday ( need to change my saddle though, I've got a sore bum today despite padded shorts!!) (also wish it was flatter round my neck of the woods!!)

Tortoise · 27/01/2012 07:16

Upahill Just an exercise bike so probably not 100% accurate! Smile

Smalline · 27/01/2012 18:56

Good news about your test results TortoiseSmile

Have not been doing too badly this week, hoping for a loss tomorrow, have been walking more.

Well done on your loss Cardibach, did you know that if you lose 2lbs a week for a year, you would lose approximately 8 stones, no pressure thoughGrin.

Tortoise · 27/01/2012 19:21

Weigh in tomorrow.
Did ok today but had vegetable curry and chips for tea!
No idea how weigh in will go!

upahill · 27/01/2012 22:15

LOL at Tortoise
There was I thinking you were really Nicole Cooke at that speed!!!!

Tortoise · 27/01/2012 23:39

Grin well the speed thing said 20mph most of the time! Probably doing a lot less than 10 miles too! But a good 30 mins of cycling has got to be of benefit. Need to do it more often though.

upahill · 27/01/2012 23:45

Blimey of course it is benefitting Tortoise!
I can't do that long on an exercise bike but I can go 50+ miles on the road or about 25 on trails.

A tip, although I'm sure you are doing this. Sometimes speed up and sprint like mad for a while and then calm it down, start a fast pace slightly before you are fully recovered. You will find this will help increase your fitness a lot quicker.

Good luck with the weigh in!

Tortoise · 28/01/2012 09:46

1 lb gain Sad.

Furball · 28/01/2012 11:48

blooming heck tortoise - I feel for you I really do Smile

Is it worth going back to the docs and asking for something like alli? That way you can't sneakily eat half a pack of penguins or crisps etc without some unfortunate consequences.

It might just be the threat you need to set you back on track? Smile and once you start loosing consistently you'll become more positive with the whole losing weight malarky which just in itself must be a good thing.

OP posts:
Smalline · 28/01/2012 16:27

I lost half a lb this week, so I am now back in the 12 stone range, but only just, am now 12st 13.5lbs.

I feel for you too Tortoise are you still doing lots of walking? school runs, dog walks etc., I only ask because I notice how much fatter I am now that I am not doing the school runs, even walking the dogs is done by putting them in the car and driving to the park, I drop the kids off at breakfast clubs now before driving to work, I used to walk them to school, to the parks etc, I have to make an effort to walk anywhere now, am doing lots of driving instead. Can't wait for the warmer and longer days to get more walking in.

Can just about fit into my jeans now, they are so tight and uncomfortable, and I have a huge muffin top at the front BlushBlush. I started back at the gym this morning, I have been doing other classes, but find that gym workouts really work for me, hopefully another couple of weeks in the gym and the muffin top and other areas that I don't like will have disappearedSmile.

Please don't give up tortoise, I think it's just your body getting used to the big weight loss that you had last week, your diet is looking so much better now.Smile

Tortoise · 28/01/2012 17:13

Furball Im going to give it a month and see how it goes before going back to Dr for advice.
I walk everywhere. At least 4 miles a day. On my own a mile takes 10-15 mins so not slow walking! Plus 3 days a week of going up and down stairs at charity shop! Lifting and carrying stuff.
I need to fit in at least 3 x a week of cycling.

cardibach · 30/01/2012 10:13

Sorry to hear you are havning problems, Tortoise :( SOmetimes it sort of sticks then drops after a couple of weeks. Lets hope that happens for you.

I lost another 0.8kg this week. Really pleased as I went away for the weekend to see a friend and still managed to eat sensibly and go for a couple of walks.

upahill · 30/01/2012 10:51

I read this today and I found it interesting and it was certainly true in my case.
It is a story in the Daily Mail that says how and why people put on a lot of weight when they hit their 40's and why (it is thought) it is so hard to get rid of.

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2093639/How-fight-fat-40-Youll-gain-30lb-year-eat-middle-age-did-30s-But-dont-despair-A-new-book-reveals-stay-trim.html

upahill · 30/01/2012 10:52

I also menat to add, Stick with your hard work Tortoise. Like your namesake (with the hare) you will get there in the end!!! Grin

Tortoise · 30/01/2012 18:01

Thanks Upahill.Smile

Been a bad day food wise. Not eaten loads, just what I've eaten has been crap.
But I've walked about 4 miles and helped out in charity shop which involved a lot.of trips up and down stairs again changing stock! My legs are really aching.

Furball · 01/02/2012 11:47

Well done small and cardibach - for your excellent losses

I've been off the rails abit this week - but.......have decided......chin up tummy in and soldier on..... dh and I have a weekend away in June and I WILL BE A SIZE 14! [here's bloody hoping]

have had curry flavour batchelors savoury rice for lunch not the healthiest but it is filling and surprisingly tastyand I also had a greek salad.

have pork risotto for tea (overdose of rice today methinks - it's supposed to be 'free on green' in sw eyes, so here's putting it to the test)

OP posts:
Furball · 01/02/2012 11:47

tortoise - how are you today?

OP posts:
Tortoise · 01/02/2012 17:37

Not bad Furball. Bought 2 new pairs of jeans today. Had to get size 20 Shock Sad. Size 18 was fine in another pair but they were more expensive so I bought 2 pairs the same in size 20.
I just don't seem to be able to get into the right frame of mind to eat well despite never being this big before. Not been bigger than 16 before.
