Hello:)

I got back from our family holiday last week, uploaded our photo's and i had the shock of my life, what has happened to me! My DD got a bit snap happy with the camera and boy i could have cried:(

So i have decided to start the Dukan diet, been shopping, so all prepared (i think) got my target etc, but i am looking for any advice from people who have already done it, did you struggle, find it easy and have you reached your target? Any recipes? Anything really, i suppose i need a bit of motivation, as i have no will power and a huge chocoholic!!

My target weight lose, through the Dukan site is -34lbs, huge amount!

Thank you

Hello! Can I join? I did Dukan earlier this year and lost 4 stone.....I have been sitting on the last stone for months due to the fact I am eating carbs again no matter what I doBlush

So need to get on it...4 day attack phase starting tomorrow!

On the plus side I KNOW I can return to eating carbs and maintain my weight. I go up and down a couple of pounds but that is it. It does work!

planetpotty · 22/09/2011 17:13

bananamam Yay! Not my OP but I recon Moolie would welcome your experience as much as I do :) Well done on the 4st.

I'm wavering a bit as I cant seem to get my head around the rules Blush I have read the book but its all a bit confusing/conflicting so find it easier to nick other peoples menus!

After the minging not very tasty cookies, I this afternoon made the cheesecake it just tastes like egg :(

What will you be eating on a typical attack day - aware Im being very needy, sorry Blush will blame on the lack of carbs (everything in my life can be blamed on lack of carbs :))

dearprudence · 22/09/2011 17:51

Throat much better thanks moolie Smile

Hello bananamam - we need some experienced Dukaners on this thread so we're delighted to have you!

planetpotty I cook a lot as a rule, but I've found it easier to stick to very basic foods on Dukan for the first two weeks. On a pure protein day I just cook chicken with some curry powder, or make a burger with lean mince, or have some dry-fried salmon, or an omelette. Then on a veg day, I have cabbage, tomatoes, sprouts, or whatever on the side.

I had my first big challenge yesterday - had a night out with work. I stuck to protein in the day, but then I did have alchohol and a poppadom in the restaurant (as well as chicken and a bit of sauce and a tiny bit of rice). Last night was fine - I actually found I couldn't eat nearly as much as I would have done before, but today has been a bit harder because I've had to pick up momentum again.

So here I am, for motivation.

moolie1 · 22/09/2011 17:53

Hello bananamam That is fantastic on losing 4st, brilliant that you want to join in, the more the merrier:)

planetpotty well done on losing the 2lb, that is good incentive as you know it is coming off. I do know what you mean about wavering, i am not creative with food, i keep going back to my book to check things that i can have, i was going to have pork tonight but put it in the freezer as it is to fatty:( My recipe book came today, i went straight to the pudding section meals and made the chicken curry and i thought is was lovely, i guess i won't be making the minging cookiesWink
I so want to weigh myself, i have had a sneaky look today for the scales but can't find the bloomin things, will just have to wait to Sunday am:(
I have no idea what i am going to eat tomorrow...ideas please!!!!

Glad you are feeling better dearprudence, nights out don't help do they! I have two meals booked in 2 weeks time, one is at a fish restaurant, which i don't think will be to bad but the other is a mexican, where everthing is cheesy and saucy, so hoping i can keep on track before and after.

bananamam · 22/09/2011 18:28

My best advice would be to take advantage of garlic and other herbs and spices you are allowed.

Also when in the cruise phase, we ate steak and Chips but made chips with celeriac. They are delicious. Dp used to put some curry powder on them and oven cook them in the oven like wedges.

I have a total sweet tooth and found it hard!! I cannot stand oat bran, so eat scrambled eggs, mixed with ham, spring onion and a little sesame oil(a dash for flavour) for breakfast. You can also use fat free yoghurt mixed with spices to make dips for cold chicken to snack on.

I sometimes cheated and had a square of good quality dark chocolate as a treat. I would say it was tough going but it soon became a normal way to eat! I have slipped back and am looking forward to getting back on!

Very glad to have found you lot!!! Smile

Ps another favourite is prawns with lime juice and chilli!....oooh recipes are coming back!!

bananamam · 22/09/2011 18:40

This thread has some decent looking recipes on it

I am roasting a chicken to eat for the the rest of the day with various dips and so on....and lots and lots of water!

moolie1 · 23/09/2011 13:12

Roast chicken sounds perfect:) I am seriously hungary today, feeling really weak too:( I keep eating and drinking but it is not helping, felt so good this am, now I feel rubbish. I am sure it will pass but today is really trying.

Fairyloo · 23/09/2011 20:17

Fuck me fell off wagon big style and trying to get back on.....

Clinging on

planetpotty · 23/09/2011 20:22

Come on stop fannying about down there Fairyloo back on the wagon you Wink you can do this :)

Im drinking Diet coke which is helping and DR D says he encourages it, that and chewing gum which I was confused about before Hmm

ednurse · 23/09/2011 20:32

Well done everyone! I done it for a couple of weeks a few months back and lost 10lb in two weeks. I haven't a lot to lose. Started at 63kg, now 57.9kg. I still want to lose another few kilos....have a little Halloween costume to squeeze fit into.

I've been having things like yogurt with oatbran, smoked salmon and scrambled egg, poached egg and ham or omlette with a triangle of extra light laughing cow cheese for breakfast.

Lunch/dinner is cold cuts, chicken in various spices, salmon fillets in spices, prawns and chicken in pimento Grin, steak, sometimes egg again....

For a sweet treat I've been having sugar free jelly or a diet coke.

ednurse · 23/09/2011 20:32

Must also say I stopped nearly a month ago and I've been on holiday to Vegas and had lots of nice dinners etc and only put on 1lb in a month, so not too bad!!

planetpotty · 23/09/2011 20:37

Hello ednurse Vegas is amazing hey! Went for honeymoon (put on a lot more than a lb though :))

Thanks for the info on what you're eating especially the laughing cow as a treat -LOVE them.

Is any sugar free jelly ok or do you have a certain one?

ednurse · 23/09/2011 20:55

Any sugar free jelly is fine, I use the Hartleys brand. It's just nice for a sweet treat!

Vegas is great Grin already planning the next trip. I think I did ok as I ate eggs and bacon most breakfast, didn't snack too much (apart from the big frozen cocktails) and dinner was mostly steak or crab/lobster and a small portion of potato or something. Did OK!

planetpotty · 24/09/2011 08:34

The four pounds I was told I would loose by the Dukan website.......has come off yay!

4 down 31 to go :)

moolie1 · 24/09/2011 23:27

kerrits · 24/09/2011 23:32

I lost 26 lbs in just under three months - my only diet success ever. After a few days I found I didn't feel hungry and if I did I would drink tea, diet coke or water.

good luck dukaners

planetpotty · 25/09/2011 12:48

Hi all :)

Oh crap........I went out last night. I have the breaking strain of a soggy kit-kat!

I stuck to vodka and diet coke all night though and have still stuck to the diet and not had any carbs :)

moolie1 · 25/09/2011 21:52

dearprudence · 25/09/2011 22:54

Hi everyone. Just catching up. Great weight losses - well done moolie and planet Smile

I've been a bit hit and miss since Wednesday, when I had a work night out, then had a bit of a carb binge at my sister's on Friday. I'd say that overall, I've stuck to the diet only about 90%, which is enough not to gain but not enough to lose!

Two days of pure protein for me now, until my official week 3 weigh in on Wednesday (11lbs lost so far - was hoping for a stone by then).

bananamam · 26/09/2011 11:42

Well I am taking today as a fresh start Blush terrible weekend. Well done to all weightless that's brilliant!!

planetpotty · 26/09/2011 18:26

Weekends are a complete danger zone aren't they :(

Im doing a couple of days PP to make up for weekend and not weighing 'till at least Thurs!

More garlic prawns for me today and chicken curry for tea.

DH made a lovely spanish chicken dish on my PV day

Chicken breast diced
Salt free veg stock cube
Garlic
Chopped toms

All put toether in a pan and reduce. It could do with garlic bread, pasta and cheese was lovely Grin.
