x-posts! :)

TheOriginalFAB · 17/05/2011 16:16

DS was cleaned up at the hospital and his helmet saved him from serious injury. He had to go to an emergency dentist as as ours were shut we had to pay to see another one.

Niecie · 17/05/2011 17:03

Oh FAB poor little chap. Hope he recovers well and his teeth are OK.

Alibaba - Grin I got the right terminology then?!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 17:13

Good evening everyone! I had a wee mini-binge earlier (ate 2 packets of crisps outside of my hunger) but I am not going to beat myself up over it. Life is too short!

Just making a delicious pea & pest soup with fish finger croutons for tea - mmmm!

Was going to do the first officialy da 1 of the Couch to 5k, but my pal cant make it and Ihave nomotivation to do it by myself :(

OP posts:
Celestialstarlight · 17/05/2011 17:24

Fab Oh my! Your poor wee guy. I hope he is ok. What a terrible scare you all must have got. Thank God he was wearing his helmet! Sending my best wishes to you both and I wish him a speedy recovery.

So if the rise is the cause of toeing (as oppossed to super flabby fanjo) then I'm in big trouble! Sadly my big wobbly belly and huge boobs are the fattest part of me which means I need waist high trousers to help hold in my belly. Lower rise trousers only allow my huge muffin top to spew forth! I seriously need to get myself booked in for a tummy tuck Sad.

Wish I lived near you Glaikit I'd love to try the couch to 5K. Health probably wouldn't let me but I'd still love to have a try.

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 17:25

Hi all.
Well, I've just been shopping and bought a few pots of pre-made jelly, a chocolate swiss roll cake, some crumpets, crisps, dried fruit and had changed my mind from chicken for dinner to pasta.

Will have to find some things that aren't chocolate that I like to eat.
Am def gonna make FAB's cheese muffins tomorrow.
(hope you're ok btw)

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 17:46

Celestial, what health problems do you have? I was worried that being massively overweight woudl really hinder me, but I was surprisingly ok! Cant face running alone though, how fab would it be for us all to be able to run together! does anyone in here live near anyone else?

Fab, your poor wee boy :( Hope he is ok!

Silvery, yay to yummy snacks!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 17/05/2011 18:09

celestial - I have a similar problem, and find Lands End trousers v.good. They come in a variety of fits with varying waist heights etc, so you can try a couple of different ones. I have some nice linen crops and also some chinos from them, neither of which have the toe problem! And because they are online you can try things on at home which I prefer.

Niecie - S&B is very scary, unless you are slim-ish and have tons of cash. There was a vile thread in there the other day about large women in linen trousers - I mean what else are you supposed to wear when it's warm? Angry

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 18:59

I have now been without Diet Coke for 6 weeks now :) A lovely but unexpected side-effect of Pauling, and very welcome! I had a serious addiction for about 12 years, I get very moody & headachey if I went a few hours without a can, and I always wanted to give up. I did, with no effort & without realising I was even doing it Grin Thanks Paul!

Glaikit Like Solo I have M.E, so it is very difficult for me to do exercise. I had to give all my exercise up last year and my weight has just rocketed. The past few years though I was putting on weight even with all the classes I was going to but that was more to do with my terrible emotional association with food I think. So when I stopped all the body pump and body attack classes my weight shot up. I would love to do the couch to 5K though to see how I get on. So if anyone wants to do it and they live in Scotland please pm me to see if we live near (I don't want to post my area for fear of outing myself).

Ali I'll have a look at Lands End trousers. Thank you. I too have loads of linen trousers as they seem to be the only decent fit for me but I'm fed up looking like a wrinkled burst couch. I hate the way they look after about an hour of wearing them. Off to have a look at lands end now yaay Smile

PositiveAttitude · 17/05/2011 19:19

Interesting to read about you having ME Solo and Greentoes, my dd3 has had severe CFS/ME for 3 years now. She was bedbound for many months and in the house totally for one year. She is making good progress now and managing a few hours at college each week after missing 2 whole years of school. Its a long, hard road, isn't it?

I am avoiding BMI, weight charts etc. I know I have loads to lose, that's enough for me to know! Wink

I cant believe how easy it has been for me to get back on track today. Normally I would have had a total binge, a total guilt trip and felt really bad about myself and that would be the end of yet another attempt!

Off for a swim in a bit! Grin

GreenToes · 17/05/2011 19:24

Solo sorry to hear you've had it so long, I've only had it two years so far so have only just got over the delusions that if I push myself hard enough I'll be able to do things! The classes sound really good. I got a new yoga DVD a few weeks ago so I've been trying that. If you really don't mind I might PM you cos I do have a few questions that you might be able to help with :)

Celestialstarlight sorry to hear you have ME too. I did couch to 5k up to week 2 day 2 and the had to stop because I have developed a respiratory type problem (not related to the ME). If you're feeling up to it I would definitely recommend it :) I really enjoyed being outside first thing in the morning, it's a lovely way to wake up, so I was thinking I might just walk the route I had been running instead, that might be an idea for you to start with or if your symptoms are particularly bad one day.

DottyDot · 17/05/2011 20:07

Aaarrggghhh! Typing because I've had my tea (home made lasagne - gorgeous) and then had to go to a v. boring school thing and have just got home and am desperate to snack - but not hungry...!

So, keeping my fingers busy and trying to focus on how full I'm still feeling from tea. I know it's cos I'm stressed and a bit fed up - but logic sometimes doesn't win out! Grin

And I've had 3 nights off from shredding so really should get back into the swing of it tonight - and the very thought is making me grumpy...

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 20:56

FAB How's your ds doing?

I've drank 500ml of water today! Grin That's really good for me as I am a Pepsi addict.
I'm not hungry, but like you dotty I;m feeling I want to snack. I will not do it though. But thinking of all those nice things I bought incase I get hungry are playing on my mind.

Watching supersize vs superskinny which is always a hard rogram to watch as my attitude to food often reflects that of the supersizer.
Tonight is the first time that I am actually shocked at the portion sizes of the supersizer. Anyone else watched it?

SomebodyNew · 17/05/2011 21:15

I have a stupid question, I got my book today and it came with a DVD, I can't work out how to get the audio onto my IPad and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to actually watch the DVD vs listen to it as hypnosis. I had the idea of listening to it as a hypnosis thing at bedtime vs a DVD but not sure if I've got it wrong, has anyone managed to transfer it to an iPod or iPad?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 21:28

Silvery - I sky-plussed it, going to watch it in a wee while! I am the size as most of the people on the supersize side, and used to eat like them too :(

SOmebodynew - Was there a CD too? Or a CD track on the disc? I dont have that version, so I am no help sorry :(

OP posts:
SomebodyNew · 17/05/2011 21:30

It just seems to be DVD only, I'm probably missing something though, such a pain...

SomebodyNew · 17/05/2011 21:38

Ok I am seriously stupid, I've found the CD, yay!

TheOriginalFAB · 17/05/2011 21:55

DS is fine thank you. It was a while ago it happened but I still remember the panic I felt when I ran down the hill to pick him up. I took his cycling helmet off then panicked as I remembered you aren't meant too.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 21:59

Grin Somebodynew!

How's your day been FAB?

OP posts:
SomebodyNew · 17/05/2011 22:01

Should name change to 'somebodystupid' :o

Niecie · 17/05/2011 22:06

Alibaba - since I fail on both the slimish and load counts I shall have to continue to deprive the S & B section of my obvious talent. Wink

What is wrong with large women in linen trousers anyway? I would have thought that wide legged linen trousers were actually quite flattering on the larger woman? This is what I see on the street not in the mirror by the way.

I really like Lands End stuff but mainly because of the pages of colourful tops - they probably aren't so impressive if you have just the one. They also do tee shirts with a decent length of short sleeve which when you have bat wings like mine is a bit of a must (genetic pre-disposition to them, don't you knowWink). Will have to have a look at the trousers properly.

Celestial - I also need the corset effect of high waist trousers and really, I am v glad that hipsters are now out of fashion because they did me no favours and I was forever hoicking them up as my tummy forced them down. What with that at the front and workman's bum at the back.... not a pretty sight.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself this evening. Bits of me ache, probably due to the tumble I took this morning. The itchy nose and soreish throat I had yesterday is not the result of too much dust (decorator doing DS1's room at the mo) but of a cold. Can't remember the last time I had a proper cold and it is not good. Trying to decide what to do to make me feel better that doesn't involve chocolate and failing. Knitting not possible because of my sore hand. Oh what a tale of woe!

Sylvana · 17/05/2011 22:07

Hi girls, mind if I join in ? I've been reading through this thread and your stories are so inspirational. I bought the CD and am going to start this plan tomorrow and I just have a question hopefully some of you will be able to answer.

In work we have our morning break at 10am. I'm usually starving for that and have a boiled egg and slice of brown toast - which is fine.

Lunchtime is 12:30. I'm not usually starving as its only been 2 1/2 hrs since I last ate, but having a later lunch is not possible. Also there are usually lots of tempting things on the menu like curry, chicken chilli wraps, chips etc. I usually order whatever I want and scoff it down anyway (whether I'm hungry or not). What would you all do in this situation ? Thanks :)

blimey · 17/05/2011 23:29

Welcome Freaklikeme. I reckon if you are hungry eat whatever you fancy from the menu slowly and stop when you aren't hungry anymore. I guess you are worried you will be hungry later if you don't eat lots of lunch - can you have some tasty snacks with you so you don't worry about getting hungry? I find when you follow this method it is amazing how little you need to eat compared to before. I still can't quite believe it 3weeks in - just try it!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 17/05/2011 23:53

GreenToes, PM away :)
Niecie take vit C if you have it.
Freaklikeme, I'd just have the toast or egg at break and have lunch in the last half hour of lunch instead of straight way.
Welcome to our thread by the way!
