Just a quick note to register I have lost 3lbs in 12 days. I have lost more in a shorter time doing pig to twig but I am thinking if it comes off slowly it is more likely to stay off. Is that right?

SilveryMoon · 16/05/2011 07:51

Fab that's great weight loss, well done.
You may have lost more quicker with pig to twig, but it didn't really work did it? I'm assuming you put it back on or just didn't get on with the diet at all, or else you wouldn't be here.
Remember, the key to this is not the weight loss but learning how to change our attitudes to food. That's what is getting the weight dropping off, that we are now learning how to listen to our bodies and not over-eat.
Keep it up girl Grin

A stone? Absolutely bloody marvellous! Well done. And well done how to on the running. That is brilliant. I'm finding the program really enjoyable so I hope you do to. Have you been properly fitted for running shoes if you plan to continue? Really important for your feet and knees. Smile

Hello neeps, it's brilliant!

ObiWanKenobi · 16/05/2011 08:00

Amazing losses! Well done all.

V bad night's sleep last night (DD). Determined not to let that put me off the rules today.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 16/05/2011 08:13

I didnt get fitted, but I did buy running shoes in the size that I think I am. Should I have been properly fitted? Blush thats probably outside my budget tbh. Im surprised that I am not hurting today - i just feel brilliant!

Obi - tiredness is one of teh worst things that put me off the rules, its like my mind wants more & more food to try & stay awake. Are you able to nap? That definitely helps.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/05/2011 08:15

SilveryMoon - I did P2T for about 3 months and got bored tbh as you couldn't eat so many things I love. I am feeling happy about doing this. I am listening to my body, eating when I feel properly hungry and not when the clock tells me too.

CheerfulYank · 16/05/2011 08:16

Well done everyone!

I have not done so well. :( There hasn't been a single day where I've gotten to tick every box in the journal...but maybe today's the day! :o

SilveryMoon · 16/05/2011 08:18

Yank I wasn't able to tick any of the boxes yesterday!

CheerfulYank · 16/05/2011 08:31

That makes me feel better!

I am really achey and sore right now as I was painting all day, so I do feel as though I've exercised. :)

onesandwichshort · 16/05/2011 09:07

Hello everyone, and blimey aren't you all doing well? What a fantastic rush of positivity and enthusiasm for a Monday morning. And CY - painting is exercise, especially if it makes you ache. You were moving your body!

Well I listened to the 'exercise made easy' CD yesterday, which is all about motivation in general, and boy did it work. Quite apart from doing a longer cycle ride than normal, I also powered through the day and got about three times as much done as normal (including all the admin I've been putting off for ages). I am a bit gob-smacked really.

neepsntatties · 16/05/2011 09:07

Ok I am in! Thank you so much for the lovely welcome and info.

I think for me it is important to sort out my relationship with food out as it has been such a mess for so long. My mother had an ed and I have learned a lot of weird things from her and have struggled to feel ok around food for as long as I can remember. I would love to eat well without the guilt, the restriction, obsession etc. I think this will be hard, it's been years of eating in this way, a lot of unlearning to do.

I had a nice breakfast of eggs and pittabread. I feel nice and full now. I will need to look into the whole am I hungry thing though as I am not sure I always know. I also have this irrational fear of responding to my hunger now as I figure I will still get hungry later and want to eat again and so I save calories until the end of the day.

I really never want to count calories again.

Joltek · 16/05/2011 09:14

Neep - The really lovely thing I find about the system is I am learning not to panic about the rest of the day. If I don't eat enough at lunch then all it means is I get to choose something else yummy to eat a bit later. I am starting to look forward to feeling hungry as it's not something I will have to endure and ignore anymore, but will be another chance to eat something I really fancy.

jaggythistle · 16/05/2011 09:23

I have found that it's taken away the feeling of being powerless to stop the weight going back on.

I was starting to flap about my trousers getting tighter again a few weeks ago, but this weekend I was feeling great about being able to do something about it so easily. Just hope i can lose the 1/2 to 1 stone I could do with shifting!

I don't weigh myself often though, I go by the fit of my clothes more.

ppeatfruit · 16/05/2011 09:26

have you googled I Can Make you Thin Neeps? it's very helpful to get you started I think I really got it with the 'chew 20 times' idea I get full up eating an apple using that!

knaveofhearts · 16/05/2011 09:53

Sorry FAB, it took me so long to type I x-posted with you. 3lb is fantastic, well done. Also so sorry about your M-I-L's attitude to adoption. Must be really hard when someone so important is so negative.

Am seriously considering joining whoever it was that was going to do the permanent buster for chocolate. I just can't actsensibly around it.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 16/05/2011 10:02

Morning everyone :)

Well done FAB and PA on your losses!

This morning my feet and ankles are thinner Grin

I have not done that well over the weekend, sleep deprivation is awful for making me just shovel food in randomly. I feel a bit better this morning, and have eaten a yummy breakfast.

CheerfulYank · 16/05/2011 10:05

I resolve to chew 20 times today! :)

Ali I am the same...if I'm too tired I just throw food into my mouth willy-nilly.

knaveofhearts · 16/05/2011 10:05

How to the problem with ordinary trainers is that they don't necessarily cushion correctly for the stresses of running. The other problem is that a lot of us pronate when we run, that is lose our arches, even if we're not flat footed at rest. Uncorrected pronation causes massive problems with knee pain, shin splints etc, especially if you are a bit overweight.

My advice is to go to a specialist running shop. Get them to look at your feet and gait and try some shoes on. When you've decided what you like tell them you'll think about it cos it's a lot of money and then buy them off the tinterweb. Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 16/05/2011 11:12

Thanks for the advice Knave x

knave It was me who's thinking of getting shot of chocolate. It has been a massive part of my life so am not 100% sure I'm ready to do it just yet though.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 16/05/2011 14:30

Hello! :)

I've finally started to know when I'm full...don't always stop completely at that point, but I'm doing far better and will definitely get there soon :) I've had to put my other jeans away because they just fall down all the time and even the tighter ones I'm now wearing have to be yanked up all the time ~ so annoying but it feels great! I can't quite get into my 14's yet, but it won't be long I don't think. I've lost about 1 1/2 dress sizes! woo hoo!!!

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 16/05/2011 14:52

Silvery I have stopped eating chocolate completely. It is the only thing I feel I have no control over (see prrevious comment about eating an entire box on a 20 min car journey Blush ) I think maybe when I am more in control, I can try again but when I don't have it, I don't miss it. It is eating a bit and stopping I can't do and then I feel terrible so not worth it.

My jeans feel looser and I know I am losing weight, but some days the weight I have lost just doesn't seem worth it! There is so much of me still left Sad I am not despondant enough to give up though so there must be something keeping me going.

Great ot hear all the success, keep it up!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 16/05/2011 15:05

Don't worry DingDong, I got stuck for ages and then it just kick started again and I'm doing Ok, so you will too if you keep going :)

SilveryMoon · 16/05/2011 15:13

I'm not hungry, but I fancy something. Don't know what though.
