2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

refusing to be weighed is tempting, i havent had a great time with midwives and i suspect theres a fair bit of past history making me maybe a little irrational about it but it just feels like if i can get a few stone off then i can hold my head high and genuinely tell them theres nothing for them to be concerned about. I labour ridiculously easily (sorry!) so that isnt an issue but i actually had the midwife at my booking with dd3 ask me why on earth i was having another, i was so shocked she didnt get the response she should have! and yes Bloomingnora, absolutely insane, was it not already obvious?

wmmc shivering boosts your metabolism according to something i saw somewhere (im really good at scientific backup, can you tell :o) think it may have been that crash diet programme, so an hour of it, well done!(tongue firmly in cheek)

hope your date is soon blooming and that you come to the show, would be nice to meet you.

welcome fgm we have varying degrees of success and aims here, the rules work, i think everyone on the thread has seen evidence of this, unfortunately we dont always! im a sahm to 3 dd's and losing weight in a bid to ttc no4 and ultimately get the weight off and keep it off. DH is in the RAF and claims to work hard :o

FGM - you are very welcome! :)

Emotional eating is a problem you can fix. Honestly you can get through this. Start off by listening to the MP3 every night and following the four golden rules: (1) Only eat when you are hungry; (2) Only eat foods you really enjoy (3) Eat slowly (4) Stop when you are full.

That's it really. There's a track on the CD called 'tackling emotional eating' which will probably be very pertinent to you. :)

In terms of successes, I've used the CD four times now, each time losing about twenty pounds in the first month. In the past I haven't kept up with it because I forget to play the CD which is why I'm going to the seminar to see if that does the long term for me.

How much do you have to lose?

Curiousmama · 31/01/2011 00:32

hi all and welcome FGM, hi to arthur

I'm also a sahm but am looking through my fingers for work. I'm not used to working for someone as I worked in a salon for years before dss and was more or less my own boss. I tried mobile hairdressing but the (large) village I recently moved to has at least 7 salons! Anyway fancy a change so will probably need to re-train at something?

Last night I was out with a good friend until 2am Blush got to bed 4am. I did dance so burnt off some fat hopefully? but did have a few drinks. Was good today though once we got up we went for a long walk along the clifftops with my dog Smile Very hilly and bracing, just what you need with a hangover Wink Have eaten sensibly today so am happy with that.

Hope everyone else is doing ok? I have at least 2 stone to lose WMMC how much have you to lose? I must say you look slim on your pic?

ppeatfruit · 31/01/2011 09:01

hello arfur!! I hope you're feeling rich! 'cos you probably don't know there was a webchat with P.M. and he gave away tickets to a few lucky ones of us!

ppeatfruit · 31/01/2011 09:03

How's it going? I've lost about 5 kilos!

itsonlyajob I do P.M. and loose weight without the books and C.D.s i watched the T.V. progs. and googled I Can make You Thin. There is a lot of info on there. Smile

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 31/01/2011 13:46

Oh my word WMMC you are so beautiful (Swoons)! As are you children.

It was DS1's birthday party this weekend and I managed to not gorge myself on cake and ket but I have felt a little less in control this weekend. On the up side, my jeans that I was on the verge of not being able to do up are fitting much better so something must be happening.

I haven't been listening to the CD either as I've lost mine and I'm hoping we another at the seminar but I do think it helps with motivation. Speaking of which, has anybody found an itinerary for the day? I'm going to need to feed DS3 at lunch time or I'll be having an embarrassingly leaky time Blush but I can't find any info anywhere.

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 13:48

I've still got the hairy bloke picture on my profile haven't I? Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 14:18

CuriousMama - umm well hard to say given I haven't weighed myself for over a year! Wink

But I started out at 11st 7lbs and I reckon I'm just about 11st now and want to get down to 8st 13 pounds by June.

I do look a lot thinner than I am on photographs - it's v odd. I seem to have the reverse adds ten pounds thing Hmm

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 14:20

I mean I look thinner on photographs than in real life.

Curiousmama · 31/01/2011 16:24

Wow 8st 13lbs is light!! How tall are you WMMC?

Not sure what's going on today but haven't been hungry at all?? Am making quorn bolognese for tea and will have to force it in. I'm out tonight doing church stuff so can't go out without any food in me.

There are lots of viruses flying around people are dropping like flies so could be that? Anyway have still had fluids.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 31/01/2011 18:04

Hello. Can I join you?
I've lost 6lbs in January following no particular diet, just eating more healthily and using the wiifit.
I won 2 paul mckenna tickets on here and so have picked up a old edition of the book and the CD and started reading and listening last night.
I'm 12st10lbs and 5'3.
I am going to be 10st. Smile

anyone find the CD a bit weird to begin with?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 31/01/2011 18:15

most useful thing that i read last night was, 'are you hungry or do you want to change how you feel?'
Asked myself at 3pm which is usually when i cave and want a chocolate hit. I always get a bit anxious around that time at work.
Didn't have any today.

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 18:29

I'm 5ft 3. It sounds light but it's one pound under nine stone. It's a healthy weight. BMI will be about 22.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 31/01/2011 19:28

at 5ft 3 i'd like to be 9 stone too, but getting to 10 stone would be a major thing first of all, will worry about the last stone once i get there.

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 20:16

If you are going to aim, shoot for the stars and all that Wink

bloomingnora · 31/01/2011 21:00

I'm 5ft 3 too! And frankly I would be happy to get to 10 stone 13.5 because at least it would start with the right number. I was 10 stone 7 and a size twelve when I was fourteen and frankly did not appreciate it at the time.

Guess what though? I've lost another three pounds! GrinGrinGrin One happy face for every pound!

UrsulaBuffay · 31/01/2011 21:43

Hi, can I join (intermittently, I admit I'm not the best at posting!)

Have been on SW on and off and have done my first ICMYT day today. Quite successfully I think! Haven't snacked or had seconds just by listening to my body & really enjoyed my food.

If I can release myself from the guilt and stop obsessing with the rights & wrongs of eating that would probably be as good as losing weight to me.

I like the sound of your Bear brooches btw!

TwoNoisyBoys · 31/01/2011 22:08

Hi, can I join too please? Have ordered my book/cd and am eagerly awaiting delivery! Am doing SW (unsuccessfully at moment) and Shred (day 4 - VERY PROUD!) and really need an extra something to help me....am hoping ICMYT is going to be "it" !!

whomovedmychocolate · 31/01/2011 23:00

Well done bloomingnora. :)

Ursula - welcome - well done on your first day. Keep it up. :)

TwoNoisyBoys - we're all getting so thin we need some extra bodies for warmth Wink so welcome. You will have to ditch the SW if you want this to work. Anything that ascribes values to food 'sins' etc is verboten for ICMYT.

Well I've had a splendid day today. I think I've finally sorted my head out. Someone bought me a box of chocolates and I smiled politely and gave them away at the first opportunity - postman now thinks I'm barking but ho hum - wasn't phased by not being able to eat at lunchtime because of well stuff and had a snack later instead and that was fine actually, it's okay to be hungry for a little while.

I think the kids have even noticed. Went to M&S cafe and DD nicked my mini biscuit and when I pointed out she'd nicked it, she replied 'but you don't eat biscuits mummy, you only eat proper food' Grin

Deafworm · 01/02/2011 10:01

glad you hada good day wmmc your dd sounds entertaining, i can imagine mine doing similar.

welcome ursula and twonoisyboys im an ex sw member and really ICMYT is just so much better. i had a countdown when i started this the first time and did both ish while it ran out but really you cant do both properly it does have to be one or the other, i would recommend this :o

well done bloomingnora thats great news

right now, can i please have a virtual kick up the bum, im not concentrating, im not eating slowly and im not stopping when im full but i am driving myself up the wall. I dont quite know why its what ive done every time ive ever tried to lose weight, i get a good start under my belt and then i stop paying attention and just gain it all back, i cant do that this time, i have to get it off so im trying to get my head back into it today. :(

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 01/02/2011 11:24

Deafworm - stop beating yourself up. Focus on your goal - where you want to be when you have lost all the weight. Do the stepping into that person thing, it really helps.

And use smaller plates and small cutlery, even child sized cutlery if you need to - which will make you pay attention and concentrate so things don't fall off the teeny tiny fork Wink

ppeatfruit · 01/02/2011 11:57

yeah good idea WMMC ! Deafworm You could try eating with yr eyes closed a few times I know not easy with D.Cs about Grin or you could do it with them!!
