Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

Deafworm are you still listening to the CDs? Until you've created better neuro pathways your old way will try and reassert themselves.

And a glass of water for you at every meal with a sip between each mouthful. If that doesn't slow you down, nothing will. Wink

TwoNoisyBoys · 01/02/2011 13:34

Have just got home and ITS ARRIVED! Am excited and nervous, not sure why the nerves though? Have uploaded the cd to my ipod, and am looking forward to this evening when the real-life two noisy boys are in bed and I can have a read and a listen!

whomovedmychocolate · 01/02/2011 14:12

Twonoisyboys - you are about to change your life for the better but it is a change none the less and change makes everyone nervous. :)

FGM · 01/02/2011 14:23

OK, first day today!!!

And a good day to start since both DDs are in childcare on Tuesdays so I get some headspace and get to go to the gym. So I did Zumba this am. Anyone else tried Zumba? It's v fun and I got v sweaty and out of breath.

FGM · 01/02/2011 14:24

quickly not quickie haha Blush

whomovedmychocolate · 01/02/2011 14:25

Ah yes Zhumba - and do you have an ibuprofen for your sore arse tomorrow? Wink

CDs deffo odd if you've not listened to anything like it before. I started with Richard Bandler. Now he is totally loopy. Grin

FGM · 01/02/2011 14:38

I'll put a couple aside for tomorrow, thanks WMMC!

seriously- it's more enjoyable than a treadmill. I find gyms tedious at the best of times.

Curiousmama · 01/02/2011 19:06

well done everyone and welcome to newbies Smile

Had a good day today, ate some of the quorn bolognese for lunch, had a homemade pancake for breakfast but just the one Wink

I'm not that hungry right now so will have a glass of water and see how I feel later?

Good luck everyone keep it up!

Deafworm · 01/02/2011 19:14

wmmc the image of things falling off the fork made me giggle. I am still listening to the cd's. have done much better today, trying to work out if im still hungry right now but dont think i am so will see how i go.

ppeatfruit eating with my eyes closed fills me with fear but i appreciate the suggestion!

I suspect Deafworm that eating with your eyes shut might be a bit too much sensory deprivation if you have hearing loss. :) Sudoku - do one number between each mouthful?

Well I'm having a weird day today, fairly euphoric but really tired. I seem to have lost my entire stomach in a week, it's completely flat. Shock Grin

DH described it as 'anti-pregnant' Hmm Grin

mummyosaurus · 01/02/2011 20:17

I love Zumba, watch out it's addictive.

I am on day 9 and feeling pretty hungry today. Despite drinking lots of water. No binging though, which is amazing for me.

I am finding it harder to concentrate on the CD this week. Yesterday fell asleep listening to it, luckily woke up in time for DDs school run.

nikki1978 · 01/02/2011 20:22

Right I am very annoyed! Did one week and definitely noticed I was eating a lot more than less and really noticing when I was full etc. No snacking as I wasn't hungry and eating really nice flavourful meals.

Weighed myself at end of week 1 and no change - nada.

Peed off :(

I will be going on the 19th as got a ticket of a very lovely on here :)

Hopefully will get a better idea there as have just been reading this thread so might be doing it wrong?

nikki1978 · 01/02/2011 20:27

"Hello. Can I join you?
I've lost 6lbs in January following no particular diet, just eating more healthily and using the wiifit.
I won 2 paul mckenna tickets on here and so have picked up a old edition of the book and the CD and started reading and listening last night.
I'm 12st10lbs and 5'3.
I am going to be 10st. smile"

Ooh dragonbutter can we be buddies? I am the same height and weight as you exactly! And I will be going on 19th :)

whomovedmychocolate · 01/02/2011 20:37

Nikki - that's great - that means you didn't lose any water this week :)

Step away from the evil scales. They are no help to you.

If you are sticking with the four rules, you will lose weight. It might happen fast (like me) or slow (like others - sorry). But we all get there as long as we keep on track.

UrsulaBuffay · 01/02/2011 20:44

Funny that lots of us seem to be around the 12stone mark.

Finding it a bit bizarre that when I really think about it, I actually am not hungry about 95% of the time!

Today again have not snacked or had seconds, did have a satsuma late afternoon and am having a beer (ginger, yum!) now but at lunch I thought 'I won't eat til I'm hungry'. I wouldn't exactly say that time came, but it was 'lunchtime' so to speak. I wasn't enjoying the soup I'd bought so I gave it away, then I really enjoyed the sarnie I had but felt a bit like I wasn't exactly hungry.

Haven't wanted to eat 'just for the sake of it' though & have had 3 'normal human being' meals. Feel much more positive, but slightly worried that I 'can' eat 'anything'.

Just keep thinking, 'ooh I'll have that next time I feel hungry!' - an improvement.

whomovedmychocolate · 01/02/2011 20:50

I reckon 12st is common is because it's 20% over normal body weight. Most people in the UK are 10% over and don't really notice or care and people who do notice and care but also emotionally eat add on another stone.

One pound is 3500 calories. You can gain that in a week by eating just a bit too much, it's quite easy. We've all had years and years of overeating to get as fat as we are.

The good news is it won't take years to get rid of that extra weight. :)

UrsulaBuffay · 01/02/2011 23:10

That's really interesting WMMC, & positive. Hmm. Right well I've ordered the book, cd&dvd cos I had the old copy & have lost it.

blinder · 01/02/2011 23:11

Whomovedmychocolate will you come and sit in my house for the next month saying encouraging things? I love you and want you in my life. Smile

ppeatfruit · 02/02/2011 08:06

Well folks i'm preparing to come over england way on Fri. to help with G.D. and mum's moving and won't be near computers so see you avec pom bears at Hammersmith!! i'm getting excited nowSmile

TwoNoisyBoys · 02/02/2011 08:20

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone! I'm around the 12 stone mark too. Was 11st 3lb at christmas........Blush. (Was 10st 3lb this time last year, but lets not go there!) I listened to the cd in bed last night, fell asleep listening, and then woke up at the countdown at the end. Hoping a lot has sunk in, cause I cant actually remember any of it! Skimmed through book yesterday, intend reading again later. I'm panicking about what/when I'll be eating today, as I'm getting the car fixed, so will be out of the house all morning, then the usual afternoon madness......Might take some crackers or something with me. Trying to remember everything I read.......

whomovedmychocolate · 02/02/2011 08:38

blinder - you don't need me. Your brain is really clever. Give it a bit of encouragement and it'll set you on the right path. Think of all the wonderful things you've done in your life - you did every single one of them yourself - because your brain knew how to.

Little kids don't know how to overeat. If they are hungry they eat and if they aren't, they don't. You learned bad habits that's all. You can unlearn them too - I remember having lots of bad habits I don't do anymore - I used to tie my fingers into my shoelaces the first year or so I tied them. I learned a different way. This is exactly the same and you can do this.

But I will cheer you on if it helps :)

whomovedmychocolate · 02/02/2011 08:39

ppfruit - safe journey and we'll see you and your bear at Hammersmith.

ppeatfruit · 02/02/2011 11:48

Thank you WMMC! Smile we're travelling by train so not as much room for stuff as when we take the car. IYKWIM

nikki1978 · 02/02/2011 12:31

Ooh ooh! Just popped into Tesco and they are doing the book with cd and 90 day success planner (all in one big book) for £5.49 so grabbed myself a copy :)

UrsulaBuffay · 02/02/2011 14:34

oh ffs Nikki, I just ordered the book & cd alone for more than that from amazon! Good bargain there.
