2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

I watched a bit of 'will my crash diet kill me' but honestly, they are all such a load of tosh. If you cut your calorie content to under 800 calories a day of course short term you will lose your mind weight. Hmm

I have had a bloody great day today foodwise. I'm in my chilled out head space where it's all absolutely fine and normal and I just keep imagining myself stepping into the body of that tiny jeaned person I once was and will be again. I'm slightly concerned you all may wallop me if I turn up having dropped a stone before the seminar though - as I'll look pretty umm well normal sized.

Despite being 11st plus I'm still only a size 12 you see. But I am a shortarse if it helps my case?

But I won't need a Pombear badge, you'll be able to spot my new severe haircut. It is a hair cut only a thin person could carry off (ie it requires cheekbones and only one chin). Hurrah! That'll force me to keep up. Otherwise I'll look like a weeble, or Mary Portas on cake! Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 26/01/2011 21:41

Oh and I won a box of Tyrell's crisps today (and a potato planter) and just dumped them in the kitchen cupboard without even thinking about eating them. Shock

solo · 26/01/2011 22:20

I've had a bad few days and am convinced I'll have put back on half a stone so am angry at myself.

ppeatfruit · 27/01/2011 09:33

Solo, chill, breath in thru yr nose for 10 and out for 10 and start again! Smile it's simple I had to do it after xmas, be kind to yr self.

ktwiltshire · 27/01/2011 10:08

solo remember that PM says you must forgive yourself for having a bad day/week and move on, tomorrow is a new day and all that.

this week i have lost 3.8lbs, which makes for a total loss of 9.8lbs. i am going to need that, as tomorrow, saturday and sunday are going to be difficult, tommorrow im off to a funeral and then spending the weekend with the in-laws, pizza on saturday Confused so im going to have to do my best!!

Deafworm · 27/01/2011 10:29

wmmc thats exactly why i watched it, im very big, 16st big and sometimes the thought of dropping 6st minimum is pretty daunting and i think ooh i could just do x,y,z, fad diet of the moment or get surgery or whatever other stupid idea is in my head that day so i watched it to remind me this is the right way to do it and it worked. im sure we wont mind you being normal sized, weve all got our own reasons for doing this none is more valid than any other i dont think. i wish id realised when i was smaller and tackled it properly.

solo im the same, i got a good loss and as predicted got complacent combined with my birthday it hasnt been a good fortnight. dust yourself off, remind yourself you can do it and if you have a gain its a lesson for the next week/fortnight. when do you weigh in? im due to weigh on sunday and just doing my best to get my head back into it between now and then.

well done on your loss kt sorry you have a funeral to go to, hope its not too bad, and good luck for breaking old habits over the weekend, i find breaking my habits with my in laws the hardest thing.

Deafworm, it is pretty daunting thinking of losing a lot of weight. I've broken mine up into half stone targets and keep reminding myself that it's better to come off slowly and steadily.

I saw the programme about crash dieting last night too and feel so glad I'm not attempting to do anything like that. The good thing about PMK is that I really don't feel like I'm trying to lose weight but I am! I had a sneeky early peek at the scales this morning and I'm 1.5 lbs lighter than on Sunday which means I've met my first half a stone target! Grin

I've not had such a good week as been feeling poorly with tonsilitus (maybe that's why I'm feeling slimmer!). I'm feeling much better now but very tired so not doing much at the moment. The antibiotics I have are to be taken on an empty stomach at least an hour before eating so even if I am feeling hungry I know I have to wait to have something to eat.

Deafworm · 27/01/2011 11:13

well done tessieb sorry you are ill, hope you feel better soon.

half stone targets sounds like a good plan, i lost 8lb the first fortnight and to be honest the way this week has been i will be happy if i can just maintain it on sunday. I set the target of 1stone every 2 months which means i want to drop another 6lb by the end of feb which should be easily achievable if i just keep at it.

Thank you ladies. I know I must just start again but I have been feeling a bit low, had the pre menstrual munchies except it's not...think I've started the menopause as my periods have been a bit wonky since December. I also have an annoying, tickly, itchy cough and don't feel great in myself and I think I'm just simply comfort eating again, which is really sad after losing a whole stone...I will try to be better today.

I weigh in on another thread on Fridays and once a fortnight at the slimming nurses clinic on a weds which is next week, not yesterday. I really do feel like I've let myself down though.

ppeatfruit · 27/01/2011 11:41

Solo that weekly weighing is getting to you IMO you know P.M. says not to!!Also comfort eating is ok as long as it's when you're hungry etc etc...!

tessieb · 27/01/2011 11:45

Solo sorry to hear you're feeling down. You have done so well to lose a stone already so be proud of what you have achieved. Is there anything you could treat yourself with that's not food if you're feeling low? How about a walk to the shop and buy a magazine? Or a nice bubble bath? Or listen to PMK's CD for motivation?

Deafworm a target of 1 stone every 2 months sounds very achievable and a sensible rate of loss.

I really want to lose 3 stone by the end of May, lost half a stone already since the beginning of January, so 4 months to lose 2.5 stone seems reasonable.

I keep reminding myself that it's the little changes that keep on adding up. I went through a pile of Rosemary Conley magazines at the weekend looking for recipes I liked the look of and also inspiration. I love reading the articles about how people have lost significant amounts of weight!

Curiousmama · 27/01/2011 16:37

Hi all, yes deafworm you can come and live with me Wink

Hope you feel better soon tessieb.

I haven't lost any weight but tbh have been feeling quite tired and not exercised. I was supposed to go to the gym today but felt exhausted. The world and his wife have one bug or another so maybe I'm coming down with something?

I'll still manage to eat my dinner tonight though Smile Am eating even more veg and salad lately and not adding butter to potato mash etc.

Hope you feel better soon solo? We'll get there one day soon Smile

whomovedmychocolate · 27/01/2011 18:01

Deafworm - thanks for your kind words. I've still got a lifetime of crap thinking about food to contend with. I'm the only person in my entire family who weighs less than 12 stone. :(

And in any case, I'm just a bit further down the same road than you. In lots of ways it's harder once you get nearer your goal as the temptation is to say 'good enough'. But I can imagine having lots of stones to go (I still have over two) is very daunting. But hey, weighing more, the exercise burns more calories as you are moving more weight around so that's great.

I've been up since 3am with a sick DS (who is also flipping irritatingly bright in spells so he wails for an hour then runs round like a headless chicken cackling with his sister Hmm) And it's still going great.

Didn't have a chance to listen to the ipod last night so must do that this evening.

Am thinking of going through my wardrobe and putting the clothes that will too big in a few weeks on one side so I can only look at the smaller ones. To inspire me some more.

tessieb · 27/01/2011 18:11

Hope you're not coming down with something, Curiousmama, there are a ridiculous amount of viruses around at the moment! I think you were right not to push yourself and try to exercise if you're feeling so run down. Keep up the veg and salad - hopefully all the vitamins will fight off those nasty bugs.

Whomovedmychocolate how much weight have you lost already and how long has it taken?

I'm looking forward to going through my wardrobe too when I've lost a bit more weight and getting out all those clothes I've not been able to fit into for ages. Grin And it will be so nice to take all my larger sizes to the charity shop as I will never grow into them again!!! Wink

whomovedmychocolate · 27/01/2011 18:15

tessieb - I've got no bloody idea - no scales. But I've gone down a dress size in about five days. I do have a WII fit but the numbers don't matter really.

tessieb · 27/01/2011 18:53

Wow, fantastic whomoved!

whomovedmychocolate · 27/01/2011 18:59

tessieb - the first ten pounds always drops off me within a week. I'm lucky I guess but it's mostly water and the next ten pounds may take another month.

Deafworm · 27/01/2011 19:05

tessie it would work a lot better if i focussed more on what im doing, its just not clicking this week, like today i felt ill this morning so didnt eat then by lunch time i was over hungry ate too much and now im still full from lunch and im trying not to get back into a vicious cycle. have drunk 2 1/2 pints of water today though and done half an hour on the wii fit small victories and all that.

fantastic curiousmama im packing as i type Wink hope you arent ill and feel better tomorrow

you are welcome wmmc well done on your loss so far, my family are similar and im working quite hard to make sure my girls dont join us, my dd1 eats quickly so im working on discreetly slowing her and trying to stop pushing dd2 to eat as we have done in the past. hope your ds is better soon, my dds have been similar for the last few days and off school, i hate keeping them off and feel really bad about having them off since tuesday :(

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 27/01/2011 19:48

Their health is more important than a few days off school deafworm :) DS has an ear infection I think.

My family has always overeaten and comfort eating was drilled in from an early age. When my mum came back with my grandmother from an appt at the hospital when they told my GM she had terminal cancer, their first reaction was to have milky coffees and toast with loads of butter on. It is so deeply ingrained in my family's culture.

Got dumped -have a kitkat etc. I'm trying to put all that aside. I can see the pain it's caused to my mum and several members of my family have already died because of this - if we all don't fix this, the cycle continues and our children will be trying to fix it themselves. Or worse, they will go through their lives feeling crap about themselves. :(

On a happier note, I can say that having done it before, it is possible with this system and not that hard either, as long as you are vigilant and keep listening.

But it's hard.

Curiousmama · 28/01/2011 08:19

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Am still tired but am sure I'll be ok?

I ate too much at teatime yesterday. Ok so it was chicken veg and rice but I had a huge portion Blush On the plus side I only used a little olive oil to fry the veggies and the chicken was breast from a whole roast chicken. I didn't feel stuffed though? But I must've eaten too much? Also had a few sweets at the panto. Then around 10pm dp went to the chinese for a snack and he bought chips and pancake rolls and curry sauce. He gave me half and I ate it all Blush This is most unlike him (or me) so will make sure that's a one off. Dp works nights so think it was just him having a rare treat seen as he was off? Anyway I ended up talking about waist measurements and how mine is too high. Then ended up measuring us both and his is too big too although he knows that. His dad had diabetes and mine heart disease so we need to get our waist measurements down.

There's some chicken left so will make something healthy with that for dp and me today.

Good luck to everyone else Smile

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 09:12

i always use olive oil instead of butter on toast etc. curious. My DH has a large belly he's a "mood" eater, will have a coffee instead of a meal we eat different meals but he IS leaving some ATM.

Curiousmama · 28/01/2011 09:37

I hadn't thought of that ppeafruit will try it. I must admit I have to force myself to eat breakfast as I never fancy it.

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 11:55

Doesn't P.M. say to drink water and eat ONLY if you're hungry curious have you tried waiting till you feel hungry?

solo · 28/01/2011 13:57

I was really hungry last night and so had a glass of water before bed. Didn't eat extra.

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 14:53

yeah solo i don't eat after 8 however hungry I get I find that really helps the weight loss. I've made my pom bear brooch!
