2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

curiousmam water retention counts for a lot, several pounds, are you more hydrated than usual?

sunday lunch went well, ate about half of it and a small slice of cheesecake, but have not really listened to myself this evening as ive had crisps and dip and cereal chocolate cake slice. DH is working this evening so ive been bored and in pain (my hips). i know logically eating wont make the pain better, but my painkillers dont do the job, especially in the evening when theyre running out. i know its an excuse but its the truth!! lol.

havent managed the pilates dvd this evening, but that was a rather optimistic thing to try and do of an evening, but i have got the PM dvds and im going to watch them in bed and do what i can do make tomorrow a better day. I have a week off work this week coming so going to attempt to do more CD listening and go for more walks to try and losen by hips/back out.

tessieb · 23/01/2011 21:53

Curiousmama, I'm sure the scales will start going down as soon as AF arrives. You must be losing weight if your clothes feel looser. Also, if your scales are old they may not be that accurate. Before I had my digital scales I had some really old ones that gave me a different result every time I stepped on, so I just picked the lightest weight every time! Grin

kt at least lunch went well even though you've had a few extra treats this evening. Are you often in pain with your hips? It is difficult to resist comfort food when you're not feeling too good. Enjoy your week off work. I hope you feel better soon.

I went to the family party this afternoon and there was a lovely buffet. I was good, chose a small plate and had a couple of small slices of veg pizza and salad. Dessert looked good with a particularly delicious looking chocolate cake. Normally I would have had some, but I really wasn't hungry and decided not to. Actually, a really good motivator was the fact that I was wearing a pair of black jeans which I've not managed to get into for a couple of months. They felt fine, but there was't much room for expansion which stopped me from overeating!!! Wink

Curiousmama · 23/01/2011 22:16

Yes you're both right. Will treat myself to some kind digital scales tomorrow Wink

The top I have on today was tight on me a week ago, especially on the arms. Fits nice now Smile

Well done you two for your restraint Smile

tessieb · 23/01/2011 22:35

I got my digital scales from Lloyds Pharmacy and they weren't expensive - can't remember how much they were though.

Curiousmama, isn't it a lovely feeling when clothes that were too small start to fit again. Must admit I felt quite excited to be able to wear my black jeans again.

What I'm really looking forward to is going through the bags of smaller clothes I've been storing in the bottom of my wardrobe that I've not been able to wear for the last 3 or 4 years. Then again, when I'm a few stone lighter I'll probably prefer to go shopping and get some new ones!!! Grin

Curiousmama · 23/01/2011 22:46

Thanks tessieb we have a lloyds in the village. Never known a village like it, 2 chemists, 3 bakers, coop, costcutter, newsagent, 2 corner shops, 3 pizza shops, 2 chinese, 2 pubs, 2 clubs (workies) and at least 7 hair salons!! Plus other shops etc..

Yes get yourself something new to celebrate Grin I have a few new things I haven't been able to wear. Can get in them just my tum is too flabby (at the moment)

solo · 23/01/2011 23:56

I got my digital scales from Asda for £10 if it helps.

ktwiltshire · 24/01/2011 09:09

i have two bags full of clothes that i fit into until i was about 5 months pregnant (i lost weight at the beginning then put on sooo much more!) i was looking for a top the other day and i found a spider!!!

i have hip pain constantly, its just some days are worse than others, and its getting worse recently, either that or my pain killers arent working as well, could be the later could be both, but its constant and will take years to start to get better, thats the positive estimate!! (i have to stop myself short of assuming they will never get better, i have to stay positive)

ok first day at home from work, 2/3 kids in school, one more to go in 2 hours and then im free until 5.30ish. going to go for a couple of walks, catch up on some tv and listen to PM cds.

Curiousmama · 24/01/2011 11:02

So how are you all today? I've had a one egg omelette so far (2 egg omelette shared with ds1) and still feeling full. Protein is so filling.

I soaked a load of chickpeas last night and may do falafel or something for tea? Dss eat most things so will try them (and help make them?)

Hope you have a good day pain wise ktw? I'm in awe that you manage to work with pain and have 3 dcs! Hope you do get well.

Thanks solo will check Asda if the chemist doesn't have any?

ppeatfruit · 24/01/2011 12:45

hi curious i went to yr health thread, there's some meanies on there aren't there? IMO if changing yr diet can make you better and slimmer then what's the problem?

Curiousmama · 24/01/2011 14:33

I know I've heard it works and does make sense tbh.

ktwiltshire · 24/01/2011 16:52

CM pain has been copable today, had a sleep over lunch time to try and catch up, i work 2 full days a week and two half days normally, but i have to go for a 10/15mins walk every few hours to stretch myself out, i cant walk very far and i cant do hill, but i cant sit still for long without siezing up! my DH is brilliant and does most of the runs up and down the stairs for me if i need things as stairs are difficult. my pain is a thousand times better than when i was pregnant, so i suppose i put it into comparison.

ok enough rambling, i have had some pringles today, but nothing else so far, not sure what we're going to do for dinner but i think i can eat consciously, as im in an good frame of mind for eating slowlly etc!

might have egg mayo sandwich, i really like them, and they are filling...

ppeatfruit · 24/01/2011 17:26

Curious i was very sorry to hear about yr. sis. my ds had (and survived) breast cancer and like you I'm on the blood type to make sure I stay healthy and it's working!! Touch wood!!

Deafworm · 24/01/2011 18:46

hi all, been a long few days here and i havent really been in the right frame of mind but im back on track now.

curious go with what the clothes are telling you Grin i weighed on friday as it was my birthday and it said i was 3lb up but at the same time i was in the middle of the first week, looked in the mirror today and realised my silhouette was much better so hoping for something positive on sunday (i think) though i dont expect too much as there was possibly a little too much birthday indulgence!

i weigh on my wii fit and it gives me a nice graph of how im getting on which i like, my house scales arent great either, im not sure why i still have them. going to come have a nosey at this blood typing thing. hope you have all had a good day?

OP posts:
Curiousmama · 24/01/2011 19:57

KT did you mean you'd only had pringles all day? Glad you're pain hasn't been too bad.

pp thanks, yes was awful. Mum will never get over it.

Deafworm glad your silhouette is getting better Smile

I've had a good day, made a chickpea morrocan thingy stew, was lovely, low fat, filling and cheap Grin We did have chips from the chippy though but I only had a few Wink

I must do some exercise tomorrow though. Treadmill and rower methinks? good luck all.

whomovedmychocolate · 24/01/2011 20:18

Keep it up you lot. You're doing a heck of a lot better than me. :)

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 24/01/2011 20:29

Sorrythat I have been MIA Blush. Ive pulled my finger out now though, and have been following The Rules yeterday & today. I can show my face again lol

Curiousmama · 24/01/2011 20:36

Grin Glaikit.

Does anyone else feel their appetite changing? I used to be bit of a pig much hungrier.

ktwiltshire · 24/01/2011 22:00

deafworm bear in mind that wiifit scales arent very accurate, when i had a wiifit it told me i weigh about 2 stone lighter than i actually was, i kinda liked them, but terribly inaccurate!!
i had pringles during the day, and had half a chicken korma for dinner, really not that hungry, which i spose is me really listening to my body, i have a lot more energy than i used to when i was eating a lot more, i think its probably my body adjusting to tell me what it needs after me ignoring for SO many years!!

remember that bad days need to be forgiven and put behind us, tomorrow is another day, tomorrow i have to go over and look after my mum, she had a mini back op today, also have youngest DD at home till 1pm, so its going to be a busy day!!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 25/01/2011 09:30

My wii board once told me that I had lost 13 lb overnight Grin

Curious - yes, my appetite reduces really quickly when I follow the rules properly. I used to have a massive plate filed high, now I am satisfied with a side plate Shock

Deafworm · 25/01/2011 09:35

when i did sw in the past my wii fit and her scales were within a couple of pounds of each other but i don't mind them being inaccurate on the actual weight as long as they're giving me an idea, im honestly much more interested in the clothes im wearing, im only bothered by the weight from the perspective of ttc again. my personal goal is a size rather than a weight as long as i hit that 'healthy' weight for the midwives! Ive been measuring my hips, waist, bust, upper arm, and thigh every week and have lost 9 inches overall since new year which im over the moon with!

glad to have you back how to

is anyone else getting a bit nervous about the 19th? im really looking forward to it but its got me nervous too Blush

OP posts:
Deafworm · 25/01/2011 09:36

wow howto that would be pretty impressive

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 25/01/2011 09:57

IMO deafworm you're soo right about clothes 'cos they say that muscle weighs more than fat don't they? And congrats on the loss of inches!!

ktwiltshire · 25/01/2011 12:01

inches and how your clothes fit is worlds more important than lbs.

im getting nervous about the 19th, especially since i will have to leave the house about 5am if not earlier!

Deafworm · 25/01/2011 12:16

we will be the same kt, iv just got visions of getting there and being told 'no we dont have your name down'! wish it had been a post out the tickets sort of a scenario!

I've been lurking as I'm coming to the seminar in London. Haven't started the system yet as I have the old CD and I think my issue has always been sabotage.

I also find it hard to distinguish between hunger and tiredness. My insomniac very active toddler makes sure I am tired (and therefore hungry) all the time Grin.

But reading all your stories is giving me lots of hope that this system will sort me out!

How are you all managing to distinguish between hungry and other things?
