2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

this thread is so large now it's getting confusing shall I start a blood type thread?

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 21/01/2011 14:20

That's really interesting about the blood type thing although I'm A+ and I'm a little Sad at the thought of no meat! I love chicken, mmm. That said, I have been thinking about cutting down and trying to add more vegetarian dishes to my repertoire - I must buy myself a good veggie cookbook, any recommendations?

ppeatfruit · 21/01/2011 14:57

Alwaysbe you can eat a little chicken and fish so don't have to cut it completely Smile Gillian Mckeith's books and Madhur Jaffrey's World Vegetarian are good.

Foreverondiet · 21/01/2011 15:17

solo I am doing the tesco diets totals plan. I guess a bit like weightwatchers but cheaper! They calculate how many totals you are allowed and you input what you eat and it calculates how many calories/totals that it.

Alternatively you can choose a plan that instead gives you diet plans ie tells you exactly what to eat.

Curiousmama · 21/01/2011 16:35

ppeatfruit I already started a blood group diet one a few weeks back, I'll link it and we can chat on there about BGD to save confusion.

Blood group diet thread

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 21/01/2011 16:39

Thanks ppeatfruit, I'll be damned before I give Gillian McKeith any of my precious dosh but I'm going to google the other one now.

Curiousmama · 21/01/2011 16:47

Google Delia's vegetarian shepherd's pie, it's delicious!! Much nicer than meat one.

Curiousmama · 21/01/2011 16:50

Actually I just did a google and it isn't the same one we have in our cookbook? If anyone wants it I can put it on here.

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 21/01/2011 18:11

Yes please and thank you Curiousmama.

Curiousmama · 21/01/2011 20:15

Vegetarian Shepherd's pie

6oz brown/green lentils
4oz split peas, green or yellow
1 pint hot water
1 oz butter
2 celery stalks
1 med onion chopped
2 carrrots chopped
1/2 green pepper chopped
1 clove crushed garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
2 pinches of powdered mace (we use nutmeg if out of mace)
1/4 tspn cayenne pepper

For the topping

8oz tomatoes sliced
1 small onion chopped
2 oz butter
1 1/2 lb cooked potatoes
2 tablespoons of top of milk?? I use single cream.
3 oz strong cheddar grated

Wash lentils and peas, put in saucepan with water simmer gently covered for 45 - 60 mins until water's absorbed and are soft. pre-heat oven to gas 5, 375 F (190C)

Melt butter in frying pan, add celery onion carrots pepper cook until softened. then add to lentil mix (mash lentil mix little first tho) Add garlic herbs spices salt and pepper to taste then spoon the mix into large pie dish (3pint) and arrange sliced tomatoes on top.

Next, soften onion then mash the potatoes add cooked onion, butter (top of milk??) and grated cheese mix thoroughly. Season. spread on top of lentil mix. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with tomato sauce of choice (jar if you like?)

itsonlyajob please don't be so negative. I haven't done that well and am sure I haven't lost an ounce but I will!

Are you listening to the cd daily? I haven't been but will listen tonight when I eventually get to bed Wink

solo · 22/01/2011 00:19

Thanks Forever :)
I'm looking forward to getting the CD.

Mum bought fish and chips tonight for tea. I wasgood though, I had plaice and only a handful of chips. Had a piece of Christmas cake too though...

Yes itsonlyajob you'll be Ok, just focus on doing something and you will. I've only cut my meal portion size down and lost a stone; it hasn't been difficult really :)

yesterday was a better day for me, finally got my head together and stopped and listened to the CD, found myself waking up on 4..3...2... so i think that means good things!

Good luck to everyone for the weekend, we must remember (including me lol) to eat what we want, only when we're hungry and eat consciously!!

Curiousmama · 22/01/2011 11:40

You can get the book and cd in the library or they'll order it for you.

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 22/01/2011 14:28

itsonlyajob - I think the problem is that your still thinking about good and bad food and beating yourself up for eating what you think you shouldn't. As I understand it the PM system means that you HAVE to eat a brownie if that's what you really want, as long as your hungry and you stop eating when your full, it will still work.

I think the point is that if you stop policing what you eat and judging yourself then you will eventually stop compulsively eating and go on your body's cues. Sometimes that will mean a brownie for breakfast sometimes porridge, either way you shouldn't be feeling the guilt you that you are.

For what its worth, I have in no way been saintly this week. I had a coffee and biscuit at the playcentre as I was knackered and needed a pick me up. The only difference from my usual behaviour was that I ate it slowly and made sure that I really enjoyed it - doing that meant I happily gave 3/4 of the second one to the kids (normally I would have inhaled both in about 20 seconds). I've also had cake and Chicken and chips AND I haven't always been spot on with following the rules. It's going to take time to undo all the bad behaviours, baby steps and all that.

Chin up kid - you can do it.

Sunday is here, and its Sunday Lunch with the extended family as per usual. I had a really good day yesterday food wise, hoping to do well today and resist the temptation to shovel the roast too fast.

have a good day everyone

Curiousmama · 23/01/2011 11:24

Good luck itsonlyajob hope you get one? You can probably order it online if you go to your local council site click on leisure and culture then libraries?

Yesterday I had a good day. If I was following the traditional diet it would be seen as bad though. But, I had friends coming over last night so did a big tidy up. Dp and I love a chicken parmo now and again so ordered a large one to share seen as I didn't have much time. I also ordered a salad box. I had half the parmo and a few chips but loads of salad. Ate very slowly and really enjoyed every mouthful as opposed to shovelling it in and not really tasting it.

I made choc chip biscuits for friends and ate 3 but really enjoyed them. I feel no guilt Grin Overall I didn't eat a huge amount in the day but with other 'diets' I'd feel such guilt.

Good luck everyone for today. Hope you resist extra lunch kt Wink

tessieb · 23/01/2011 12:53

Hi everyone. I've not been online for a few days as my internet has been playing up. Had a lot to catch up with on this thread!

I'm really happy today as I've lost 2 more lbs, making a total of 6 lbs over the last 3 weeks. Smile I didn't think I'd have lost much as I'd lapsed quite a bit over the last week so it's been a nice suprise to find myself a little lighter. I feel so motivated now and even did a Rosemary Conley Salsacise DVD this morning. Grin

Hope you're all having a good weekend. I'm off to a family birthday party soon and there's sure to be lots of food. (Must remember to eat consciously, stop when full etc etc!)

ktwiltshire · 23/01/2011 13:01

thanks curiousmama i had a small piece of garlic bread (tear and share type) whilst doing some vegtable preparing for the roast, and it was really yummy. sounds like you have done fantastically as well!

i know im not meant to count weight loss until an entire week has gone by, but i am now down by 8.4lbs, it will probably stay the same or even out at 8lbs by midweek (when my actual weigh ins count(!))

DH is out working tonight, have downloaded the PM dvds, going to watch a couple tonight and attempt to do a pilates for dummies dvd also!!

well done tessieb sounds like you did really well, congrats, hope you have a good time at the party

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 23/01/2011 15:10

Thanks for the recipe Curious, I'm going to give that a try this week.

Well done on everybody's weight loss. I'm avoiding the scales for the time being - I'm feeling quite positive but I don't want to bring myself down with the reality of what I actually weigh Blush so I'm just going to see how my clothes fit for now until I feel a little braver.

Curiousmama · 23/01/2011 19:56

I weighed myself and it's up! But AF is very close and I always get water retention. But, my clothes aren't so tight? I know I look lighter yet the scales say no? They aren't digital and are old so maybe I should weigh myself on different scales?

Well done everyone else though Smile
