Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Evening everybody, sorry I haven't been able to get on sooner, rather hectic day - hoorah for the school holidays Xmas Grin

Those programmes about saggy skin after a big weight loss are scary aren't they? Back on 2003/2004 I had gained 3 stone after injuring my back and being off work. DH & I had set a date for our wedding and I was desperate to lose the weight. I lost just under 3 stone in about 20 months and because it was slow and steady my skin did shrink with me so I wasn't left with any access skin. The same appears to be happening now too so I think as long as you take it slow and steady you shouldn't be left with excess skin as you're allowing your body time to adjust and shrink with it IYKWIM?

I'm glad you found the photos helpful littlefish I have to admit they keep me going when I can actually visualise where I was and where I am now. You've taken the first step by deciding to lose weight and quite often that inital step is the hardest Xmas Smile

muffin well done on not breaking into the chocolate, it's torture having it in the house isn't it? Well done on staying strong Xmas Grin

How are you feeling about your work weigh in Lucky bet you can't wait to wipe the floor with your colleague Xmas Wink

How has your day been vnmum?

androbb wow those are fantastic stats thanks for keeping that up to date for us, it's so fab to see how well we're all doing! How was your works do?

How are you feeling now hmc? Nothing wrong with taking a break from the exercise for a day, it's better to get yourself well first then to wear yourself out!

Well done on another loss Wynken, a loss no matter how small is a loss and that's great! Xmas Grin I love the app too, use it every day, so handy having everything at your fingertips!

If any of you have the Hearty Home Cooking WW book I highly recommend the Chorizo Lasagne, it's only 7 PPs for a big serving, really easy to make and very, very yummy Xmas Grin

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 17/12/2010 19:44

hmc Don't push the exercise if you are not feeling well. I made that mistake yesterday. Thought I was 'over' my tonsilitis, so did a really hard spin at the gym after work, and today I feel pants again, sore throat and earache Sad. Def rest up if you are feeling rough.

I too seem to have found the switch in my head and feel so committed this time, I resis choc and treats so easily nowadays!! The weight loss itself is the best motivation I find.

androbob thanks so much for the spread sheet. Maybe we could have a virtual 'slimmer of the year' for who has lost the most since the thread started??!! It's amazing to think we have lost over 8 stone between us.

HI Norma
My friend unfortunately does suffer from very saggy skin, but she did lose 10 stone, so a phenomenal amount. She looks fine in clothes, just had to wear swimsuit instead of bikini. She is happy herself.

I realised today that I don't really have anything nice to wear on Christmas Day. Nothing fits anymore Grin. I have my new skinny jeans, but not really Christmas Day gear. I had a look in some cheapy shops today for something as money a bit tight as usual at this time of year. Couldn't find anything I liked. Was very very lovely though having to look for 10-12's Grin.
I have a new very short skirt which I could wear with coloured opaques. DH very keen on this idea Hmm but not sure I can cope with Mother's disapproving looks all day and comments on how someone of my age (36) shouldn't be wearing that.....

We're off to panto tomorrow.....(oh no you're not!!!). Snow White. My girls favourite and their first panto too. Can't wait.

OH, and re-arrogantman (as I like to call him) He did actually make a comment today about having to amputate his left leg in order to lose enough weight to beat me next week.....Grin. I think I will beat him, but the bigger the vicory by how much, the more I can gloat.....Grin.

Lucky XXX

androbbob · 17/12/2010 22:27

Evening all! Back from my works do - was a lunchtime meal in a hotel in Liverpool - was ok foodwise - soup for starters (only had half of it), roast dinner and then cheesecake for afters - I had a small piece and left half of it as I didnt like it! Drinks wise I had a glass of house wine (grim), a small Baileys on Ice (delish) and a bacardi and diet coke! Left town at 7pm and got home at 8.30pm due to poor weather -yes we have snow!!. I only live 5 miles away and should take less than half an hour on the bus but one didnt turn up and then the next one half an hour later tok 45 minutes to get home. I ohly had a thin top on with a thin scarf and a lightweight black mac type 3/4 length coat. My teeth were chattering so much when I got home and the delightful kids started throwing snowballs at me as I walked from the bus stop home (a 3 min walk). I could have cried when I got in as I felt so bad, but the kids were still up! Now sipping a Choc Options!

Then later on I had ordered online groceries from Tesco for a 9 to 11pm delivery slot. We are literally just off a main road but our road was very white with snow - it is approx 12cm deep at the moment. The poor driver got stuck and had nothing to help get his van out. My DH walked down to his van and got the groceries out and then helped to push him free. Apparently the driver had asked for grit and a shovel but Tesco refused to send them out with them. They were also told they had to deliver the food - I think that is awful.

Hope all have a great weekend - anyone else got snow??

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 17/12/2010 23:18

Androbbob - wow, your snow sounds bad...12cm? We have a smattering only. Lots of ice though, both my DDs went flying on it walking to school this morning! Well done on your DH helping out the poor Tesco man. Must be very hard this time of year for them. So busy and crap weather.
My DH is a paramedic and on duty tonight. Apparently the worst night for paramedics as most people have Christmas Dos tonight. It's very icy here so bit worried about him speeding around in his fast response car to probably a bunch of pissheads Hmm.
Your Christmas meal doesn't sound too bad at all pps wise. Well done. Particularly impressed with the options hot choc Wink.

vnmum · 18/12/2010 11:12

morning all,

I am snowed in at the moment (Liverpool) and DH is busy clearing the drive and road in front of out house. (if everyone on the street did this then the street would be clear and people could get out easier. i guess i'm too used to being in germany where it's law that you have to clear your path and bit of road)

We won't be going anywhere today so i may try and fit in a run on the treadmill or a zumba dvd, depends how much DH will occupy the kids.

Norma my day yesterday was ok, thanks for asking. I had a few peices of raisin bread and some shortbread but pointed it all in so i'm ok with it. I'm going to try and do some exercise this week to earn a few extra points just in case i need them for festive nibbles.

If this weather sticks around and yorkshire gets it bad again before christmas i won't need to worry about a high point christmas dinner because we will be having chicken and chips from the freezer as my parents are meant to be bringing the turkey from yorkshire, lol Xmas Smile

Lucky i know what you mean about clothes, i have shrunk out of loads and we are moving in february and i want to get rid of stuff thats too big for me, but then i'll have hardly anything to wear and can't afford to buy loads of new stuff as we're skint. also i don't want to buy loads of new stuff now the have to get rid of it when i've lost another couple of stone as i'll feel it was abit of waste of money. also last time we moved house i put on 1/2 stone as we were living on takeaways for all meals for nearly a week due to packing stuff and cleaning the cooker then unpacking etc so if i get rid of too much i might not have anything to get me over the inital weight gain from the move although it would be good incentive to watch what i eat and make healthier choices. oh what to do Xmas Smile

sorry about the waffle Xmas Smile

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 18/12/2010 12:47

vnmum not waffle...perfect sense. Luckily I'm not planning to go much lower than I am now, so I can justify new clothes...just can't afford them! Birthday in April so may have to make do til then and ask for vouchers.

It's snowing a bit here but not much (Herts). We're certainly not snowed in...yet...

I'm feeling really hacked off cos having had tonsilitis 10 days ago, my GP didn't give me strong enough antibiotics....so I now I have bloody tonsilitis again. I feel really rough, achey and 2 golfballs in my throat. No appetite (one good thing I suppose!) and everything hurts to swallow. I feel pissed off cos that's another few days of not exercising....oh well, at least I shouldn't be eating much.

NormaSknockers · 18/12/2010 14:55

Lucky I know exactly what you mean, DH is a copper and is a response driver too, I owrry at the best of times (even though he's an excellent driver) but in icy/snowy weather like this I worry even more. Especially when like your DH he dashes about to deal with drunken fights Xmas Hmm He's working Christmas again this year Xmas Sad

It's an incredible feeling to look at all the smaller size clothes isn't it? Really spurs you on and keeps you going doesn't it? Did you find yourself anything to wear? I've bought myself a nice cream top in a size 14 but I'm not sure cream was such a good choice with a 2 and a 5 year old Xmas Grin

androbb well done for being good at your works do, sounds like you did really well, helps that you didn't like the cheesecake Xmas Grin Good on your DH for helping out the Tesco delivery guy, how bad of Tesco to make him go out in that weather totally unprepared!

vnmum it's not waffle at all, it's tricky like you say, I've just invested in belts as I'm loathe to spend loads of money on new clothes for them to only fit a short while. I bought the jeans a few weeks ago and some skinny trousers for Christmas but got cheap ones in the sales and didn't bother with tops - I'm rocking the baggy look at the minute Xmas Wink

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 18/12/2010 20:12

Norma Sorry to hear your DH is working Christmas. My DH has worked 5 out of the last 7...he's working a night shift Christmas Eve. It was supposed to be Christmas Day but he managed to swap it.

We now have 10cm or so of snow!! Just made it to the panto, which was great and the girls both loved it. Well, DD1 aged 4.5yrs did. DD2 aged 2.5yrs not so sure!!

Dosing myself up with strong painkillers but feel weirdly hungry yet nauseous (from the AB's I guess). It's like being pregnant! Helping me to keep in points though!

NormaSknockers · 18/12/2010 21:30

Same here funnily enough Lucky night shift Christmas Eve, I doubt very much he'll be home on time (6am) hes back in 5am Boxing Day so we'll see him for a few hours in the afternoon on Christmas Day so not all bad. DH had Christmas off last year so we got lucky, it averages that he gets one off in every 7 - is that much the same for your DH?

I was feeling very smug about having only a smattering of snow but in the last few hours we've gone from almost nothing to about 4 inches and it's still falling Xmas Shock I have a feeling my WI will be cancelled on Monday if it keeps up as no-one will be able to get there Xmas Sad

Sorry you're not feeling great, hope it doesn't last too long and you soon feel better.

How's everyone's Saturday been? Found it harder to stick to points with the cold, horrid weather or has it made no difference at all? I slipped up and ate 7 chocolate digestives without looking up the points value first Xmas Shock I'd had a rather stressful afternoon with the DC and just reached for the biscuit tin without thinking. I did stop however, previously I would have eaten an entire packet without giving it a second thought! I've pointed them, given myself a telling off and decided to let the guilt go as it's not going to help. I'm still within my weekly points so that is a plus at least Xmas Grin

androbbob · 18/12/2010 21:49

vnmum - are you in Liverpool?? I am just north of Liverpool!

We have progressed to 19cm of snow overnight and it is now very ery cold! Dh is driving be bonkers twittering on about the weather - he is off this weekend, was supposed to be going to the footie today but the game was cancelled. So we cleared the drive (exercise!!) and then I made a snowman with the rubbish powdery snow (more exercise!!) and then later on went for a little walk in the snow and all he has done is moan all day! His sister is up from London and staying at his brothers (about 5 miles away) and he wanted to go and visit them today rather than tomorrow. I wasnt too keen about going out unnecessarily in the car, so we didnt go. Me and the kids watched a DVD in the warmth! Been good foodwise today - lovely soup and roll for lunch. Home made curry for tea with stir fry veg for me rather than rice - sounds odd but was delicious!

Time for a hot choc - 1PP so no problems!

lucky - are you feeling better yet?

norma put those biscuits down! The one good thing about being in all day is not eating rubbish! My shopping that was delivered was a deliberate choice of healthy stuff in an attempt to fill up on good things before Christmas day! So far it is working! I was going to a WI today but thought it not the best idea with the weather, so texted the leader to let her know! There is one on Weds that I can go to - not my usual one - but local enough to get to! Hoping for my 5% this week - need to lose 1lb so better not pick at anything over the next few days.

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 18/12/2010 22:35

Me again....not doing much other than surfing the net!

Yes Norma, DH works on a 4 on/4 off shift pattern, so he tends to work 4 years in a row, but just when he was about to get 4 off in a row, he changed jobs and went onto a new shift line, so bang on Christmas again Hmm.
Well done on putting the choc digestives down...that's still an improvement on what you would have done, as you said.
I just worked out that I had enough pps left (using bonus pps for the week)for a 135g bag of maltesers. I had about half the bag, but wasn't really enjoying them due to sore throat, so just decided to stop. Previously I would have just kept going. Long-term changes I feel.

Supposed to meeting up with some uni mates and hubbies and kiddies tomorrow for a Christmas meal at Pizza Express (yes, again!). Not sure if they're gonna make it now with snow.

My meeting is Mon am. Hoping I can still go, will have to see what the weather does tomorrow.

androbbob loving the snow exercises!!!
Keep strong in the cold ladies!!

vnmum · 19/12/2010 09:32

morning all,
Androbbob I am in a borough of knowsley just outside ormskirk (without giving too much away, lol) until feb when I will become a southerner.

I also went walking in the snow and as I was walking across a field in virgin snow of about 10 - 12 inches, i thought "i wonder how many exercise points this would be" what with the weight of my walking boots and having to lift my legs much higher out of the snow Xmas Smile

DH cleared our drive and helped next door clear theirs and abit out the front of the houses so we could both get out then the cheeky bloke from across the road and further up who couldn't be bothered to clear his own drive then parked his car on our cleared bit! I just thought "you cheeky bugger, why not just clear your own drive instead of taking advantage of DH's sensible hard work". It did annoy me quite alot though, but maybe IABU

Hope everyone has a good day today

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 11:07

vnmum YANBU re the cleared drive. Cheeky sod!

Regarding your activity points, i have to refer to the guide which suggests to questions yourself as to how out of breath you got....could you still talk....could you sing?? . Always makes me chuckle when thinking of sex and how many points in would earn me (propoints, not brownie points from DH Grin). I often imagine breaking into song during the act to see how many points I should award myself Grin.

We've had to cancel our pizza express meal out as my friends can't get here in the snow. I think DH might suggest we still go when he wakes up (on nights tonight). We have already allocated all our points so it's tempting.

vnmum whereabouts (roughly) 'down south' are you moving to?

vnmum · 19/12/2010 12:26

Lucky I am moving near Amesbury, wiltshire

vnmum · 19/12/2010 15:17

well I have just finished sorting through my wardrobe. I got rid of loads of stuff that is too big, fits but don't like anymore etc. I have also discovered a load of stuff that i can now get into comfortably and some that was now too big ranging in size from 14 to some 12s. Some of the stuff that now fits me i haven't been able to wear since 2004!! I am so pleased.

It has given me extra motivation to carry on losing and sticking with it through xmas and onto 2011. It has also given me the motivation and determination to get exercising instead of making excuses. Quite liberating really. I even found knee high boots that now fit and i can zip up so that's fab.

I packed most of the stuff for use after the move and hopefully i will be having to get rid of more stuff by summer coz it will be too big Xmas Grin

boodleboot · 19/12/2010 15:32

hey all...sorry ive been quiet all week i have felt pretty pants....had that awful 48hr flubug which just wiped me out and then the baby csme down wiv it, poor lamb. its been a bit of a grind of a week and feel like ive got loads to do still with a very small budget to do it!! maternity money truly sucka but i wouldnt swop being at home wiv alice so i guess something has to give!! all the main pressies are bought and it feels quite good to not be splurging unnecessarily...

i lost 2.5 at weigh in yest which was amazing as i really thought i would have put on....felt really sluggish so v pleasantly suprised.....still cant fit into my pre preg 12/14 clothes now but am a standard 16 now and as am 5ft9 dont look really fat anymore....its such a great feeling to see the weight coming off....10.5lbs in a month is great and steady weightloss so hopefully will stay off.....another 30lbs to go to pre preg weight!!!

thanks for helping me stay motivated....i love reading all the updates (but am thoroughly shit at namechecking...sorry!!)

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 15:46

vnmum I'm from Wiltshire. Don't live there now, but I grew up near Swindon. Wiltshire is really lovely. Well done on your clothes cull!!

Littlefish · 19/12/2010 15:53

Hello ladies. This thread really does help me stay on the straight and narrow!

I went out for a meal last night and managed to be good. I had gin and tonic, and then lamb stew with mashed potatoes and NO PUDDING. Everyone else had pudding which was quite hard!

Never mind, it will be worth it when I get on the the scales on Tuesday!

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 19:07

Well done on resisting pudding littlefish, must have been hard! You're right, it will be worth it!
We ended up not going to pizza express, but had nothing in for dinner so had to resort to freezer food, fishfingers and chips! DH and I laughed as we actually weighed out 200g of oven chips each, separating the 2 different amounts with a 'line of chips' down the middle of the baking tray.....LOL! 200g of oven chips and 4 fishfingers 15 pps, so not too bad, really filled me up. Better than going to P. Exp too!

Littlefish · 19/12/2010 19:56

Ha ha ha Grin.

I wish that WW would give all their foods/points in their cooked weights. It would make it so much easier when cooking for a family because you could weigh out your own portion after cooking.

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 20:09

oh we've done that too....weighed out mash potato on a piece of grease-proof paper.

Type A personality - MOI?

How did you guess Grin

Littlefish · 19/12/2010 20:57

I weigh out everything at the moment. I don't really have a clear idea of portion size yet, so it's the only way I can be sure.

NormaSknockers · 19/12/2010 20:58

Lucky you are not alone, I weigh out my mash potato/chips/roast pots etc each meal Xmas Blush Grin

Well done on your clothes cull vnmum well done on fitting in some of those old clothes too, fab work Xmas Grin Bloody cheeky about the chap over the road parking his car there. I'd be fuming so you're not BU at all (or if you are you're in good company Xmas Wink)

Well done on being sensible on your meal out and not having a pud littlefish no easy task when everyone else around you is scoffing it!

Brilliant weight loss boodle you're doing so well, keep it up!

Had a much better day after biscuit-gate last night, I'm hoping my WI will still be on tomorrow and not cancelled due to the snow, really would love one more weigh in before Christmas!

androbbob · 19/12/2010 21:01

vnmum - I am Knowing where you are I think! I am a stones throw away from where you are - just down the A59 from Ormskirk just by that Big Island. We have been here for 15 years but I am from the North East!

Had a fab food day today - been really healthy and moved some more snow! Not an obsession but my car was buried and I am out with the kids tomorrow so wanted it cleared today so I can get out late morning with not too much hassle! Took half an hour of brushing and shovelling! I am wishing we had a sledge as I could have pulled the kids around the area where we are (no hills sadly) but would have been good exercise! It turned out that the gym was shut today - not sure why - we were supposed to be at an 8.30am swimming lesson for DD but decided last night we werent going. We drove past the centre at 2pm and it was shut! So we will get a credit for the lesson! She was also supposed to have a horse riding lesson at lunchtime as well but we cancelled.

Going to the gym tomorrow - I am in work on Tuesday (last day hurrah!) but the kids have finished school so mum is having them. She is about 15 mins drive away so not too bad. They are staying overnight so I am going to the gym after leaving them at my mums. Planned an easy stir fry tea and some home meade tomato soup for lunch - having a low carb day!!

Heres to the final push of the week for some great WI's just before christmas [fgrin}. My post christmas WI is on the Tuesday (my usual leader but at a different class) so need to be good!! I will be going regardless - to get back on the straight and narrow!

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 21:44

androbbob Isn't the Tuesday after Christmas a bank holiday? My meetings are Mon or Tues (same leader). I don't think either will be on due to BH's, but not a bad thing if I miss a week as I am planning a little bit of naughtiness over Christmas...Not gonna go mad, cos I don't actually enjoy 'over-eating' anymore. I def have a smaller appetite.
Well done on all your exercise...you are on a roll girlfriend!!!!

Missing my exercise Sad. I do like to do a good spin prior to any weigh in, it's probably psychological, but I feel it helps!

Only one day left until 'biggest loser' weigh in at work Tuesday!!!
