Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

agree about the crumpets and the eggs though

someone in my class asked, if they could point them sepeartely if they ate them at different times of day LOL, oooh the look she got from our leader!

Well another sucessful day today - glas to hear of all the weight losses - it shows that it does work! It remains to be seen with me when I get weighed at lunchtime! In the past I have ot used my points wisely and gone over slightly a day and then only lost half a pound or stayed the same. This week I have been more careful (I know its only week 1 but still!) and thought about what I was spending my points on. I have not used all 49 - I think I have about 20 of them left (at least) but then I can have a treat tomorrow evening.

I have felt hungry a couple of nights, but then I would have had 2 packets of crisps or a couple of choccie bars, but this week I havent!

I am also Type 2 Diabetic and need to lose weight for hte good of my health, so I am really trying to put 100% in before they put me on tablets!

Will report in tomorrow with my result!

cupcakesandbunting · 16/11/2010 20:45

I don't get it wither Norma :( Our leader got loads of grief over it and she told us all to ring customer services. I laughed imagining WW customer services being besieged by lots of angry women wanting to know the points of jacket spuds Grin

A lady in my class asked after the leader had said to re-point your jacket spud after baking in the oven if the same rule applied even if it is cooked in the microwave. I barely contained my laughter...

gingernutlover · 16/11/2010 20:47

LOL norma, it made me snigger and also decide not to tell her that, that's exactly what I would do!

You should have been there the week someone admitted eating an entire victpria cream sponge cake from M and S, now that was one evil look!

androbbob · 16/11/2010 20:50

Has anyone got the eating out guide? Does it have Frankie and Bennys in it? We are going in Friday for tea and I need to pick something before I go that I know will fit into the plan! I have googled it but no nutritional information is available!

Was thinking of potato skins for starters and then pizza and salad for mains. Thanks!

gingernutlover · 16/11/2010 20:57

got it here next to me,

the skins range from 15 PP to 18PP depending on the filling

pizzas range from 18 for a margerhita to 28 for american deli.

salads are as follows
chicken breast caesar 11
crab 6
sticky chicken 15
sticky prawn 12
warm chicken 12

if you let me know eactly what you will have I can look it up

RiojaLover75 · 16/11/2010 21:10

Oh shit, oh shit Blush. I've totally cocked up this week, well part of it (Friday to Sunday) it was my birthday and despite me saying I'd have 24 hours off plan I went WAY off plan, McDonalds, lots of wine and chinese takeaway.....

Bugger, back on track yesterday and today though. WI tomorrow. Think my overindulgence will tell at the scales....

androbbob · 16/11/2010 21:12

gingernut - what would be a better choice of starter then?

Also what are the pizza or Calzone like?

cupcakesandbunting · 16/11/2010 21:12

Are you still within your points allowance if you count your 49 extra, Rioja? I had a creamy curry with peshwari naan, two jumbo hot dogs and a Nando's at the weekend, plus copious amounts of wine/cider and I stilllost 3lbs Confused I was still within my allowance though so think it worked!

RiojaLover75 · 16/11/2010 21:19

Cupcakes to be totally honest I stopped counting after 5pm Friday and started again Monday morning. I must have been over 49 on wine alone Blush.

Will see tomorrow at 6.30 pm I guess.....

cupcakesandbunting · 16/11/2010 21:22

Don't fret. If you can't enjoy yourself on your birthday Wink

Amanderrr · 17/11/2010 00:47

Androbob - The lowest PPs starters at Frankie and Benny's are a prawn cocktail for 7, a tiger prawn skewer for 5 or Bruschetta or a crab cake which are both 8PPs. Avoid the skins! Goat's cheese one is 15, BBQ chicken, sweetcorn and cheddar is 16 and the bacon, tomato, onion and cheddar one is 18.

The house pizza Margherita is the lowest PPs pizza at 18. Hawaiian, BBQ chicken and BBQ meatball are all 21 and American hot is 22. All the rest are higher. Speciality pizza start at 29PPs for the Californian club. Lowest PPs Calzone are the New Yorker and Siciliana at 24PPs each.

I went to Frankie and Benny's a few weeks ago and had the omelette and asked them to leave out the cheese. It comes with a small side salad and fries but just a handful. It's not listed in the Eat Out guide though so can't tell you the PPs I'm afraid.

Lowest point main meals are the Penne Arrabbiata for 11PPs, Spaghetti Bolognese for 16 or House Speciality Sausage and Mash for 15PPs.

Sorbet is just 5PPs and the next lowest PPs pudding is either Eli's Caramel pecan cheesecake or vanilla cheesecake both at 12PPs.

Hope that helps. Smile

Norma - 6lbs! Amazing. You must be over the moon. Well done you! Grin

The potato thing.... A raw 225g potato is 4PPs. Some of that weight is water. A baked potato at 225g (6PPs) will not have as much water in so there's more potato making up the weight. Your raw 225g potato would weigh less than 225g when it's cooked as it would have lost water during cooking.

Furball · 17/11/2010 07:26

well....I'm in!

Joined yesterday - bought the magazine, the 'shop' book and the calculator.

I haven't done WW for a few years so obviously it's all different.

yesterday I had a Jacket Potato with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch

and a jacket potato with beans and a smidgen of cheese.

that........was all my points if I included milk and breakfast!

I did lose 2 stone with Slimming World a couple of years ago - If I convert what I ate to SW points - the potatoes, tuna, sweetcorn and beans would of been compeltely free and I could of eaten a car boot full of it and would still lose weight Confused

anyway - I'm not doing SW so I used all me points.

Today........will make a veg soup for lunch, so will be free

NormaSknockers · 17/11/2010 07:49

Morning all,

Welcome Furball good luck for this week Grin

Amanderrr that makes sense about the potato thingy, quite pleased I bought my scales now though, will make it a bit easier!

I barely managed 12 PPs yesterday, not sure how I'll get on today going to try & eat here & there if/when I feel like it. I just hope it doesn't cock up my weigh in next week, if I could lose another 1lb next week will be my first silver 7 Grin

bigTillyMint · 17/11/2010 11:10

gingernut in my book it said a 225g jacket potato was 8pps Shock I think it's because the starch changes to sugars when you cook it that way?

Well done Norma - v Envy

bigTillyMint · 17/11/2010 11:12

furball that's just what I don't understand - how can yo eat so much on sw and still lose, when on ww jackets are 8pps without any fillings!

Furball · 17/11/2010 11:53

don't question it bigtillymint - tis magic!! - I lost 2 stone and it really does work.

Sw is also about fibre and shifting things that way. You have to have fibre things like All Bran instead of rice crispies.

But the grass always seems to be greener. there are good parts to every diet, but if you put them all together you'd end up the size of a house.

vnmum · 17/11/2010 12:04

i have done SW three times now in the past and it worked for the few first few weeks and probably lost 1/2 stone each time but then the weight would just start creeping on again. i think it was because i eat too much on it and take the piss out of free food. it just doesn't seem to work for me whereas every time i've done WW (this is my third time) i've continually lost. I also found that after doing SW my portion sizes were the same or bigger than when i started the diet and therefore when i stopped the weight came on quicker.

Anyway, i made a yummy 0pp soup in my slow cooker today. I just put 2 onions, 2 red peppers, 2 carrots, whole butternut squash, 2 pints of stock using 1 veg and 1 chicken oxo cube and cooked it on low overnight. then blended it when i came in from shopping this morning. yum!!

With regards to the crumpet thing, I track online and if i have something that is 1 pp for one and 3pp for 2 then if i've eaten them at different times i put them in seperately because online you track meal by meal and snacks. I track as i go along rather than input it all at the end of the day and i'm sure the tracker doesn't add up the same foods if entered as different meals, IYGWIM.

Well it's WI for me in the morning so I will see how i've done for this week, also our leader says it's question time tomorrow so if anyone has any questions i will try and remember to ask them

NormaSknockers · 17/11/2010 12:19

bigtillymint it's only 8 points if it weighs 225g once cooked (meaning it was much heavier when it was raw)

Vnmum you know stock cubes are now a point each?

thighsmadeofcheddar · 17/11/2010 12:59

Hello all,

Back from my weigh in and dropped 4lbs. Phew. I was thinking to myself, so I should, I've been frigging starving this week Grin
Next week will be the acid test as I'm out tonight for dinner and have a friend for dinner on saturday. How I'm going to ask for no chips is tonight is beyond me!! I'd really like to drop 6.5 lbs now before xmas. Got my SHRED dvd yesterday, looks a killer. Must start soon (and find my motivation along the way).

Good losses everyone! Norma, hope you feel better soon.

Today
B: fruit & fibre
L: 2 lean sausages, grilled tomato, 1 toast,
D: ?? probably chicken option

S: fruit and 1 pt soup later
Booze - a few!!

Furball · 17/11/2010 13:04

wow thighs - well done! You'll have to change your name soon to Thighsmadeofdairylealightcheese Grin

Amanderrr · 17/11/2010 13:08

Vnmum - Could you please ask if draining and rinsing tinned fruit makes it 0PPs. I keep looking in the supermarkets for rhubarb in fruit juice but no luck as yet. It's always in light syrup. Thank you. Smile

NormaSknockers · 17/11/2010 13:18

thighs well done you, brilliant loss Grin

Oh bum Amanderrr I forgot to ask last night for you :(

Amanderrr · 17/11/2010 13:21

Oh Thighs, very well done!

Let us know how you get on with the Shred workout won't you?

Blush Up until yesterday I thought Shred was one of those chopped up veggie liquid diets. I kept seeing the '30 day shred' thread and thought it was a month of spinach juice so avoided it.

Clicked yesterday to see what it was all about as there was a mention of it on another thread (Someone was raving about it) and felt like a total wally. Just had a look on Inspired I tried the touch your toes and do a press up move and got jumped on by four dogs.
