Anyone not lost weight on wegovy pill after 2 months?

BountyChoc · 24/09/2026 11:34

I've been following the wegovy pill threads here and am seeing lots of people post about their weight loss.

I started 2 months ago, did the 1st month at 1.5mg, went up to 4mg in the second month.

I've lost zero pounds over the 2 months, so am going to try 9mg but I'm assuming this just might not work for me.

Take it first thing in the morning with a sip of bottled plain water, don't eat or drink anything after for at least 30 mins.

Maybe it just doesn't work for me? I'm thinking if I continue to have 0 weight loss next month on 9mg to give up.

I could easily eat a massive meal I've not noticed any effects of feeling too full up to eat.

I've also had two bouts of 24hs of vomitting and diarrhoea 30 days apart. I thought I got norovirus the first time but since it happened again a month later it is making me wonder whether the wegovy pill might be reacting with something I've eaten?

Just a bit lost atm and don't know whether to give up on it.

I'm 5'3" and 14 stone. I was 14 stone when I started at the beginning of aug and I'm still 14 stone. I guess that's a good thing that I haven't gained?

Are you in a calorie deficit? If so, then it does sound as though the Wegovy pill isn’t working for you and you might consider another option.

I've not been tracking calories so much. I was hoping, and from what I read on other threads, that wegovy is supposed to suppress your appetite to a level that you naturally go into a calorie deficit. I've felt very little appetite suppression. I'm just stuck wondering whether that means I should stop or carry on spending money on this going up in the doses.

Well, some people don't get the appetite suppression effect until the higher doses, so I would persist through the 9mg and then the 25mg if necessary. Surely you'd always be wondering if it was about to kick in if you stopped before getting to the 25mg tablet x 4 weeks?

Also, you could try calorie counting and see if the current levels of medication make it possible for you to stick to a modest calorie deficit. You may not be getting noticeable appetite suppression but there might be enough impact to mean that you can cope with eating in a deficit.

Thank you for the suggestions. When I read the wegovy pill threads it's full of people delighted at how much weight they've lost even at small doses. So it's making me think that it's just not working for me.

@BountyChoc individual experiences will vary, a lot. Just because it isn't working in that way for you yet doesn't mean it won't at the higher doses. The only way to find out is to try, and you are already half way to the highest dose so imo you may as well continue.

I think you should calorie count, I was on MJ for 8 months and still calorie counted.

It doesn't melt weight, you still have to watch what you eat.
You might be able to eat a massive meal, but you aren't going to lose weight if you do!

I do get this but it's supposed to make you less hungry and less physically able to eat a lot no? If it's not doing that then it's not working surely?

I will start doing this. Was it a lot of effort and willpower still to keep to the deficit when you were on MJ?

It has not yet started to noticeably work for you. You can't say that it doesn't work for you until you've done 4 weeks on the 25mg dose and still not got any noticeable effect.

Is there a reason that you don't want to calorie count and try to stick with a small deficit? Not even 500 cals a day deficit, something 250 cals deficit and see how you go?

Or, rather than calorie count, you could try reducing your current portion sizes which would have the same effect.

I am just puzzled why you wouldn't even try to reduce your food intake over the course of 2 months even if you felt the medication wasn't yet working for you.

It's not that I don't want to calorie count. I was hoping the medication would reduce the need to. I'm still feeling the same levels of hunger from before starting the medication. I can still go into a binge. I'm still thinking about food all the time. It's just not what others are saying happened with them when they are taking it. And I do not have unlimited money to keep spending on a medication that doesn't seem to be doing much for me?

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 24/09/2026 12:34

What are the options though? Stop altogether and be in the same situation as you are now but with definitely no chance of being supported by medication to lose weight? Or, stop and start Mounjaro which may be more successful for you, but is more expensive which might be the reason why you didn't choose it over Wegovy?

Or, give the 9mg and if necessary the 25mg a proper go and see how you get on? You can keep the costs down by changing pharmacy for each month's order if you aren't already doing that.

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 24/09/2026 12:40

What kinds of things are you eating? Describe a typical day's food intake (including any drinks that aren't calorie-free)?

I've been on Wegovy injections for 2 months and am losing between 0.5kg and 1.0kg a week but was already losing weight before that I started the meds as part of the nhs tier3 weight management programme so I don't know how much is down to the better decisions about what to eat and how much is due to the meds.

BountyChoc · 24/09/2026 12:23

I’d say it was 50% willpower 50% MJ. For example when I went out for dinner with friends once a month (been doing this for years) I could have ate the dessert at the end of the meal, MJ wouldn’t have stopped me from being capable of eating it but I chose not to, again MJ helped me to stick with that choice.
I decided at the beginning that I could afford to spend a certain amount on MJ, for me that was 8 months and I used that time to change my lifestyle completely.
3 healthy meals a day, minimum snaking and I joined a pure gym and do 3/4 strength training classes per week. I lost 4 stone and my bmi is now 21.
The thread I’m on also had people using Wegovy instead of Mounjaro and have all done similar. The meditation won’t do the work for you, it’s just a tool to help you get to where you want to be.

BountyChoc · 24/09/2026 13:12

I'm fully aware I'm still eating too much. Sorry maybe I didn't make it clear in my OP. I'm not claiming I'm eating less on wegovy pill and don't understand why I'm not losing weight. I mean the wegovy pill has not had any noticeable effect on my appetite so wondering if it's worth continuing on it.

Ah ok that makes more sense. I have a friend it had no effect on either. Is Mounjaro an option for you?

bananaobama · 24/09/2026 13:18

Same here

i lost 5 pounds in month one but that could just have been water weight as it was hot in July when i started

nothing in month 2

im two days into 9mg and so far feeling queasy and full after meals

i dont want to have to count calories. What’s the point in that?

bananaobama · 24/09/2026 13:19

Im definitely definitely eating less than i used to. But perhas im still consuming too many calories to lose anything

i csnt overeat any more but really i need to under eat and its hard after a lifetime of eating due to boredom

BobbleBear · 24/09/2026 13:22

The Wegovy pill is one of the lest effective methods of weight loss behind the Wegovy injections and Mounjaro injections is the most effective weight loss drug currently.

I’ve been on MJ for about a year and lost almost 5 stones. Would you consider swapping over to Mounjaro from the pills?

loveev · 24/09/2026 13:23

i have had to have a complete lifestyle change . I started dieting at the end of May (before the pill) and overhauled my diet , I lost nearly two stone by mid August . Then I started the pill and have lose 14lbs since I started , but I’m now prioritising protein , low carb diet . I did have appetite suppression on 1.5. But it’s been stronger on 4mg. I’m also walking approx 15k steps a day . Im not calorie counting , but before the pill it was down to will power, cutting all the rubbish , crisps cakes, chocolate , sweets out of my diet . You have to be proactive . Iv lost at total of 33lbs since May.

What is your plan for when you’ve lost the weight? If you don’t change your lifestyle now, you’re simply going to gain all the weight back when you stop taking the drugs.

I'm not talking about food volume - I agree that calorie counting can be detrimental. But the actual choices for what goes on your plate, regardess of serving size, is really important. I wasn't asking you what you are eating in order to tell you to eat less - I know how unhelpful that is! But without reference to any kind of arbitary idea of "too much" the amount you need will vary wildly according to the nutritional value of what you are eating.

The things I am learning about on the Tier3 nhs programme are really helpful and I suspect that those paying for their meds aren't getting the support needed to make it really work. But my coach really emphasises that it's not about calorie counting or ensuring a calorie deficit but about maximising the nutrition of what you eat and giving your body a chance to get what it needs to be satisfied - weight lost through a regime that keeps you hungry and unsatisfied never stays off for long so there's no point trying to lose weight that way.

Vianeeta · 24/09/2026 13:38

OP I was the same on 1.5 and 4mg, it had absolutely no effect on my appetite, no side effects either. Now been on 9mg for a couple of weeks and I am finally starting to notice subtle effects. Nothing drastic like other people seem to, but I’m finding myself not wanting to finish meals, for example and I think I am eating noticeably less overall without feeling hungry. I’m also not counting calories or even weighing myself really, can’t be bothered. I’m not looking to lose a lot of weight, just 5-10kg I put on over the last 5 years and 2 pregnancies and I’m fine if it comes off very slowly as definitely don’t want the ozempic face or similar. My diet is already healthy (limited sugar and fat, loads of veg and protein) and I exercise, so for me the only way to lose weight is by eating smaller portions, which is why I decided to try the pills.

Venusunbroken · 24/09/2026 13:41

You could be someone it doesn’t work for, but no one can guess you need to keep moving up the doses, and in the meantime diet.

Well it's an aid to help you eat less, you still have to eat less, and make better choices.
If you carry on as you were then that's on you.
