Anyone not lost weight on wegovy pill after 2 months?

BountyChoc · 24/09/2026 11:34

I've been following the wegovy pill threads here and am seeing lots of people post about their weight loss.

I started 2 months ago, did the 1st month at 1.5mg, went up to 4mg in the second month.

I've lost zero pounds over the 2 months, so am going to try 9mg but I'm assuming this just might not work for me.

Take it first thing in the morning with a sip of bottled plain water, don't eat or drink anything after for at least 30 mins.

Maybe it just doesn't work for me? I'm thinking if I continue to have 0 weight loss next month on 9mg to give up.

I could easily eat a massive meal I've not noticed any effects of feeling too full up to eat.

I've also had two bouts of 24hs of vomitting and diarrhoea 30 days apart. I thought I got norovirus the first time but since it happened again a month later it is making me wonder whether the wegovy pill might be reacting with something I've eaten?

Just a bit lost atm and don't know whether to give up on it.

I'm 5'3" and 14 stone. I was 14 stone when I started at the beginning of aug and I'm still 14 stone. I guess that's a good thing that I haven't gained?

Im a few days in on 9mg and have not felt like eating for the last 2 days. Not eaten since breakfast and really dont fancy dinner: ill have something small and nutritious.

this is what i was hoping it would be like

AnythingPeachy · 29/09/2026 00:37

I did the wegovy injections a long time ago when they were once a day and steadily lost 30% of my body weight in 9 months, had no appetite immediately after my first injection and zero side effects. It was so effective on me I had to basically force myself to eat and remind myself to drink water. I started the pill the day it became available in the UK hoping it would be the same result but I'm 3 weeks into the 9mg and have gained a tiny bit of weight. I'm going to try a month or two on 25mg but I suspect my body just doesn't absorb pills very well.

I disagree with all those who say you should be proactively changing your diet/what you eat. The tablets should suppress your appetite which then causes you to eat less. I have been taking them for 3 months now and have lost 1.5 stone. I only want to lose 2 stone so I am almost at my goal weight. I haven't felt like eating much which is game changing. I have a sedentary job and was eating for the sake of it. I honestly forget to eat some days. I am eating healthier & smaller portions because of the lack of appetite. For me the food noise has disappeared. Also things don't taste as appealing eg birthday cake. I had the tiniest piece and found it far too sweet which never happens.

bananaobama · 29/09/2026 20:44

i have done 7 days of 9mg and it’s finally working

I cant eat much. I think i may actually drop a few
pounds in the next couple of weeks

if you are eating less then you’ve changed what you eat. When you stop jabbing if you go back to the old ways of eating then you’ll gain it back, if you stick with the reduced calories then you won’t - that means you will have changed your diet.

Anyone losing weight on the jabs and pills is doing so because they’ve reduced either the volume, and/or the calorie count of the food they are eating. You don’t lose weight without getting a calorie deficit, to think you aren’t dieting and haven’t changed your eating is fine, but it doesn’t make it fact.

And realistically, those with only a stone or two to lose will see less change in what they have to take out of their diet, because to only be 1-2 stone above goal weight they aren’t eating a hugely excessive number of calories, so the difference will always seem less than someone eating enough calories to get to 5-10 stone overweight won’t it?

But the OP isn't getting any suppression which is vital to successfully losing. It's not about planning what to eat etc it's more to do with portions.

Yes absolutely, but that is still proactively changing your eating, you have to choose to eat less. I could very easily eat through my Mounjaro if I wanted to. I could very easily eat a Chinese every night if I wanted to, you still have to choose not to, it’s just easier to stick with the choice when you are on the jabs or tabs

But obviously it isnt working for OP if she isnt getting that suppression. Maybe you are talking about down the line , yes down the line I probably will need to make choices but that will be the maintenance side once I get to my ideal weight. You can keep taking them for maintenance which will still suppress. If it was all about choices , choosing not to eat etc there would be no need for weight loss drugs. Right now though, I have no cravings which shows that they are effective for me but maybe not for OP. Maybe the injection might work better.

I am so confused by you…I didn’t say that it was all about changing your diet. I’m just stating a fact, you cannot jab or take the pills and lose weight without eating at a calorie deficit. That happens with diet change, either by eating less, or eating better, exercise, or a combination of all three.

The jab does not make you lose weight, you must eat to a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. The jab helps you to eat at a calorie deficit by reducing your appetite (amongst other things), but it does not make you lose weight, changing your eating and exercise habits are what is making you lose weight.

You said yourself that you have reduce the amount you eat. Well that’s why you have lost weight, the jabs/pills have simply made it easier for you to reduce your calorie intake.

My point is that it needs to suppress appetite to work. So the op is throwing away money by not getting a suppressed appetite. I was disagreeing with all those of you who are saying SHE alone should be doing this , that & the other. You are missing the whole point of taking it. If we could all just change our diet and eat less/ exercise more then we wouldn't need it.

Please don’t include me in ‘those of you’ because I haven’t at any point said that she alone should be doing this. In fact I don’t actually think that there really have been people saying that.

I’ve consistently said that the jab is a supplementary tool but that the person has to make changes to their diet, this is fact. You cannot eat at the same rate you were prior to the medication and expect to lose weight…am I wrong?

You seem to be missing the point, I haven’t ever said that we can just change our diet. I’ve actually said on more than one post on this thread that where normally I would have struggled to stick to a diet for more than just a couple of months, I have been able to stick to it for far longer thanks to the jabs. I’m now 4st down after 20 weeks (4 of which I’ve spent on holiday), because I have reduced my intake, and stuck to it because the jabs have suppressed my appetite, so it has been easier to eat at a deficit.

Just consider these next 2 statements before replying, because I don’t think you are getting what I’m saying:

  1. To lose weight, you MUST eat at a calorie deficit, which can be achieved by reducing intake or increasing output (via exercise).
  2. Medication does not MAKE you lose weight, however it allows you to stick to a calorie deficit more easily due to appetite suppression (amongst other things)

You can’t possibly disagree with that.

But what does your waffle do to help the OP? It's completely pointless jibber jabber. The only point OP needs to know is that the tablets are obviously not working and she could perhaps try the jabs instead.

SilenceInside · 30/09/2026 17:00

They aren’t working, yet. They may well kick in at the next dose level or the one after that. Worth trying, imo, before deciding that it’s not working at all.

Because the point is they only work in combination with calorie and portion control. The jabs/tablets don’t make you lose weight, they just make it easier for you to stick to it and to eat less.
The jabs won’t work longterm without addressing the diet issues that caused weight gain in the first place. If they really were a magic pill that could do all the work for you then they’d be a hell of a lot more expensive than £100-£300!
Expecting them to work with no attempt to improve your diet is a bit like going to the gym without exercising but still expecting to get fit!

I gave up, but this is exactly what I was saying.

A lot of my unhealthy eating is habitual, I’m not actually hungry, I am just used to eating or drinking the wrong thing so I crave it. The suppression absolutely reduced my cravings and my hunger, but the first few weeks when I didn’t feel sick I still struggled with making the right choices. The longer I made the right choices, the less I was driven by habits, the easier it became. The suppression was more effective because I had reduced the amount and type of food my body expected, and my appetite was also reduced…changing my eating was working in tandem with reduced appetite which in turn helped me to stick with it.

I see the rude response from bananaobama, I’m not tagging because I don’t need acknowledgement, but I will say that the advice isn’t useless. When you have people posting that the jabs are going to do all of the work, or the tablets mean you don’t have to change your eating, the wrong message is being sent. The facts remain, you still need the deficit, medication or not. And yes Banana, I’m saying this as a person who has yo-yo dieted through boredom and difficulty in sticking to it long term, but who has now lost 4st and honestly I’m not even close to being bored of it, it’s just my new way of eating. But feel free to aggressively respond telling people to bore off 🤷‍♀️

@Boreded
Exactly! You were pointing out facts but received some unnecessary rude replies! I’ve always struggled as well and have yo-yoed since having kids over 25 years ago. I’ve never stuck to a diet for this long and I’ve never been able to keep it all off longterm. Almost 10 months in now and I’m 5 stone down and I’ve massively changed my eating habits. It has taken a massive effort on my behalf to do this and I feel that comments such as ‘I expect the pill to do the hard work’ etc diminish my achievements. Read any story from people who have lost significant amounts of weight on GLP 1s and you’ll see that it involved hard work, discipline and huge changes to diet and exercise regimes. Anyone thinking otherwise is in for a huge disappointment!

The title is

“anyone not lost weight on the wegovy pill”

and there are loads of responses from people saying they have lost weight on the jabs

that wasn’t the question though

this is about peoples experience of the pill. If you haven’t tried them, how can you possibly answer?

😡

The jab and the pill are essentially the same thing, hunger suppressants. Often what works for one will work for the others.

In this instance, the poster is not losing weight on the tablets, if only people who have not lost weight on the tablets rocked up then we would only have a view that they don’t work etc.

There are two facets to this question, one is about the tablets, and one is about not losing weight. It was erroneously pointed out by a previous poster that you don’t need to diet to lose weight, but we know this to be untrue. If people don’t point out the error, and provide correct information then it could be that the right changes are not made.

Have a nice day 🙂

Please stop telling people what they can and can’t talk about in threads, mumsnet is supposed to be a safe place for people to speak.

As I have said, a previous poster was saying you didn’t need to change your diet, this is not factually correct, so it needed to be discussed here. Or would you rather have people continuing to overeat and not lose weight because they thought the tablets were going to do it all for them.

Have a nice day.
