A new thread for those starting WLI in Feb 2026.
Most of us are on roughly month 5 - how is everyone getting on?

Open to any newcomers too, who may have missed the boat on the first thread!

Brilliant news @Crossfitgirl ! I hit the two stone mark yesterday- 9lbs to go.

RedApplePie · 08/08/2026 14:27

Good luck CrossFitGirl! Just done number 28 and I’m into the 160’s for the first time in eleventy billion years. (Only by half a pound but I’m taking it!). 10 lbs to a healthy BMI and probably about 24 to goal. Still on 3.5 for now but as soon as I can clear a couple of weekends for the inevitable side effects I’m going to move to 5mg. Or at least 4 (wimp!)

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 16/08/2026 15:24

Bit of a milestone for me; put a size 12 denim shirt on today and it fits! Down to 9 stone 9 from starting point of 12 stone 3 six months ago. BMI gone from 30.2 to 23.9. It's well over 10 years since I’ve put anything size 12 on my bottom half! 😂

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 16/08/2026 15:25

Skirt not shirt. 😂

Castlebark · 16/08/2026 18:59

@RedApplePie and @Notellinganyone congratulations on the losses! 🎉

@Nocameltoeleggingsplease brilliant to read about the NSV, that must be lovely feeling. And a good reminder we're 6 months in!

I'm officially down 4 stone down today. Sadly that's only 39% to goal, so not quite halfway yet. But still fairly consistent.

I've been off this week after surgery, so really trying to keep my eating under control as I'm not nearly as active as normal.

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 16/08/2026 22:04

@Castlebark hope you recover quickly. Just keep in mind that it would have been harder to recover with those extra 4 stone so well done! And if you can lose 4, you can lose the rest. I believe in you

RedApplePie · 17/08/2026 09:23

Castlebark, that’s fabulous, well done, you must be so pleased. Hope you recovery quickly.

RedApplePie · 17/08/2026 09:25

This morning I saw an 11 on the scale for the first time in a very long time. It’s was 11.13.8 but I’m owning it 😀

That’s great. I’m still not quite in the healthy BMI range. I’m not sure I’ll ever be back into a size 12, you must be thrilled. Well done.

soupmaker · 17/08/2026 15:09

Well done @Castlebarkthats a lot of weight come off. Hope you recover well.

Crossfitgirl · 18/08/2026 22:49

Well I had a repeat blood test for my cholesterol 6 months after initially seeing it was really bloody high and deciding to go on the jabs. And it's gone down! I'm so pleased! I have lost about 1.5 stone, have been off the jabs about a month now (ish?) and haven't gained it all back yet, although I have noticed I'm able to eat bigger portions again so I'm keeping an eye on that.
I've read that once you stop, you should focus on more low calorie high volume foods when eating if portions are larger, so I've stocked up on veggie crudites in the fridge. I haven't stopped eating my sweet treats, (and since I've been on holiday this has definitely started to creep up) but I think getting in the habit of weighing myself really regularly is helping me to be more mindful. For example when I've crept up a bit, I've focused on protein again and haven't spiralled.

Great to hear you are all continuing to lose and getting back to healthy BMIs!

I am very short, and my highest weight was just over 10 and a half stone with a BMI of 27 (and high cholesterol). I'm now only just over 9 stone, and my scales tell me my BMI is 23. So many people have told me I look great and commented on my weight loss, and I actually saw a photo of myself from last year and I couldn't believe how different I looked.

I'll try to keep updating as the months go on, I'm hopeful I can maintain this new me.

My BMI is 26 this morning. I’m astounded really. Obviously I’ve been here before (many times!). Happy if it’s on the way down, despair if it’s on the way up. This is the first time the process has felt relatively painless, apart from the Sunday GI horrors which have largely subsided. I’ve been thinking about this ‘easy way out’ business. Yes, compared to every other time, it’s been easy but I’ve still worked as hard. That hasn’t changed. What’s been different is the drivers. This time I haven’t felt like a fat person fighting my natural instincts every single minute of the day. My relationship with food feels normal for the first time ever. Hunger feels different, it’s no longer this ravenous beast that follows me around all the time, taunting me, it’s just a reminder it’s nearly time for a meal, I eat and then it goes away again for four or five hours. No one really understood how hard I actually worked to hold a BMI of about 31, that was a constant struggle, and actually losing was horrific. If I took my eye off the ball at all, I could easily (and frequently) climb to 18 stone. I really never understood that this is what normal should feel like or how someone could say ‘eat less, move more’. If they feel like I do now, I can understand how that statement might have made sense to them. I’m sad it’s taken a drug to get here, I hate the expense and the secrecy but at the same time, MJ feels like liberation right now. When I think of the horrors I’ve put myself through. Low carb bootcamps that buggered up my cholesterol, 800 calorie fast diets, every slimming club available, orilast, the practice nurse who lectured me about cutting down on chips without believing I never ate them anyway, etc etc etc. I was terrified about taking it, convinced it was some sort of vanity drug that might kill me. Now I don’t ever want to have to live without the peace it’s given me.

Week 25. 12.5 this morning. Other wins include getting into a dress I bought 15 years ago, in a size 14! Have ordered one last pen at 0.25 and then will go it alone but keep an eye out for the WG tablets. I plan to keep
losing, in an ideal world I’d be 11.7 by the end of the year, which would be the lightest I’ve been for over 25 years. Either way I’m definitely at my fittest. I feel incredibly lucky that WLI have worked for me.

Week 27. The scales say I’ve put on 2lbs but for the first time in over 8 months I ate junk food last night from a drivethru and I suspect that may have something to do with. It wasn’t great so not doing that again! Got a wedding next week and bought a gorgeous satin dress in a style I could never have worn at 3 stone heavier and I feel amazing in.

That’s fantastic @RedApplePie

Castlebark · 28/08/2026 08:36

@Crossfitgirl that's a wonderful result on the blood test. How often are you weighing now, daily? Weekly?
@RedApplePie your description of "I haven’t felt like a fat person fighting my natural instincts" is a brilliant way of describing it.
@soupmaker I hope you have an amazing time at the wedding!

Week 28 weigh in for me. Only 0.5kg down this week, but pretty happy with that after the downtime for the operation.

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 97.4 kg (15 st 5 lb)

Week 28. Scales back at 12.5. Only 4lbs away from being not overweight.

Wedding was spectacular thanks @Castlebark I felt amazing and danced about 2.5k so treated myself to a bacon roll at buffet time!

WLI have been so life changing for me, the change in my portion size has been the biggest change along with not eating rubbish and running at my fastest pace ever. Will keep checking in to see how everyone is doing.

RedApplePie · 29/08/2026 10:11

Oh dear. I haven’t had an alcohol at all since I started MJ. Not really a conscious decision, just haven’t fancied it. Was at a wedding yesterday and over the course of about 6 hours had three flutes of Prosecco. Ate pretty moderately as the portions were very small although also had dessert, which was a creamy tartlet thing. I have been up half the night with the most unpleasant and urgent GI issues. Google tells me Prosecco and MJ don’t mix well (sugar and carbonation) and 8 months of abstinence probably exacerbated things. Lesson learned. I’d even decided yesterday to delay the jab till today, thank goodness, or no idea how much worse it might have been.

Just a little update, not sure how relevant it is as we've been on holiday in Cornwall this past week, so I have definitely eaten a lot more crap (fish and chips, meals out, ice creams, cream tea etc!). And also the school holidays take away my normal gym times, so I haven't been for a month.

I feel like my hunger levels have fully returned now, I didn't feel much different when I first came off, but now I feel like it's worn off completely and it feels like I've been ravenous! I have been eating bigger portions than I could eat on wegovy, and I have weighed myself today and I'm about half a stone heavier. I'm hoping this is purely holiday weight though, and I did expect some gain while away.

One bonus is that my stomach problems have totally disappeared now - I'm not worried about diarrhoea or stomach cramps, I haven't felt sick or nauseous. My appetite is much better for actually wanting different foods to eat - on wegovy I struggled to find things I actually wanted to eat, as I just didn't feel like eating a lot of things - a bit like when I was pregnant, I just went off stuff. So now I feel like I have a lot more freedom with what I can eat.

I've planned out my week already in terms of a meal plan, I will be going to the gym at least twice this week so I will update again and see how the next week goes!

@Castlebark I'm just weighing every few days - didn't weigh at all on holiday though 🤦

How are you answering questions/ comments about weight loss? Mine is visible now and I feel like I’m sort of stuttering and mumbling when people make what are perfectly nice comments about how I look. Am I just being too British about complements? I go back to work on Tuesday after 6 weeks off (am term time only) and I know some lovely colleagues will say something; do I just say ‘thank you?’
