A new thread for those starting WLI in Feb 2026.
Most of us are on roughly month 5 - how is everyone getting on?

Open to any newcomers too, who may have missed the boat on the first thread!

OP posts:
Rosetime · 01/07/2026 06:18

Welldone @Crossfitgirl !!! 3kg more to go! Good on you.

I have 10 - 11kg more to go.
@Castlebark , i am still here till December.

On average, I have been losing about 200g a week. Some weeks there is no change. But i am getting toned a little bit at a time and gaining muscle.

I haven't missed any days the month of June in doing over 10k steps a day. My daily average steps for June is 14,513 steps. And I have kept to my calorie limits, have been drinking more, eating more protein and started strength training in May.

During the heatwave i lost my mojo for strength training and i have not got it back. I am already starting to lose what little tone i had built. Hoping i get the zeal back.

I am on 3.75mg of Mj. My main side effect is tiredness and feeling cold. The tiredness can be quite bad, so ensuring I am eating, drinking and sleeping enough is vital.

Progress is slow (to me) but it's steady. I do look and feel better. Even though I am still losing, my thoughts have turned to maintenance. How will i maintain my new weight? Would i be able to do it without Mj?

RedApplePie · 01/07/2026 08:35

5 month anniversary today and exactly half way there. 2 stone off, exactly 1 more stone till a healthy BMI and 1 more stone to goal. Still on 3mg. It’s sloooooow but I’m (mainly!) content with it. Slower than I have lost by any other means but it does feel like a healthy, non food-obsessed process. Increasingly though I’m coming to think I’m a long hauler, possibly forever. Not because of the slow weight loss, but because really for the first time in my life I’m not fighting myself the whole time. It wasn’t really about healthy habits for me, it turns out it really was about biology.

Week 20. Scales are saying 12.8. I’m slightly bemused as I feel I’ve had a not so good week. The negatives have been too much snacking and a finding my sweet tooth has made a bit of reappearance. Two nights in a row I’ve had a mini magnum after my tea! But I need to put all that into perspective, I’m still eating way less and portion size feels under control, I’m full of protein and veg, I’m drinking plenty water and I ran my first 10k in years. I’m now a very comfortable size 16 and only half a stone overweight. Damn my apple shape though as I still have a lot of belly!

Your holiday sounds great @Saturnista I’m so looking forward to a week of not having to cook! I’m buying bikinis too @Notellinganyone as the size 20 ones I had on last year are obscenely too big!

Week 21. I’m 12.7 as of this morning. Less than half a stone to take off to make me not overweight. I’m still on 0.5 WG, I’ve not felt the need to go up to the next dose yet, and am
hoping I won’t need to. Want to lose another stone so that I’ve a bit of wriggle room once I stop the WLI. I’m hoping to do no more than a year on them but who knows. I’ve signed for more information about the WG tablet.

Good to hear your update @RedApplePie2 stone is a great loss in 5 months. I’ve found strength training has made a huge difference to my tone and shape @RosetimeI’ve never felt so strong. I need to do a class as I’d not be disciplined enough to do it at the gym on my own. Hope you get back to it.

Castlebark · 03/07/2026 08:51

It's really good to read about all these consistent loses. 😊

Week 20 weigh in for me, no dramatic woosh, but 0.7kg down this week, which is a relief after last week's gain.

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 101.7 kg (16 st 0 lb)

21kg down now (3 stone 4), but very much slowing. I've looked at my loses over each 4 week chunk:
Week 4 - 6.8kg
Week 8 - 5.3kg
Week 12 - 3.2kg
Week 16 - 3.0kg
Week 20 - 2.7kg

I've been on 5mg for the last 8 weeks, so I need to think about upping to 7.5mg. I've got 1x 5mg and 1x 7.5mg pens in the fridge. Taking 7.5mg from a 5mg pen is such an expensive way to do it! Although it's also an expensive approach to be losing so slowly when I've still got another 42.6kg to go! I know the weight loss will slow as I get smaller, but currently my BMI is 37.4 so still very much obese, or as my scales classify it "fat". 😂

RedApplePie · 03/07/2026 15:50

I edged up to 3.25mg today for the first time. 9 hours later I feel absolutely knackered but otherwise nothing too major apart from a noisy gut. If I feel ok I may risk 3.5 next week and then stay there for a bit. I want to be settled on a dose before I go on holiday and don’t change it while I’m away so after next week I’m likely to stay on whatever I’m on for at least 6 weeks.

Castlebark · 06/07/2026 08:47

@RedApplePie how are you getting on with the new dose?

I decided to jump up from 5mg to 7.5mg on Friday and oomph! what a difference. By 2pm on Saturday I was hit with feeling very full and sulphur burps. By bedtime I was quite uncomfortable and worried about potentially vomiting. All of that has settled down, and I've been conscious to eat only very small portions.

The upshot is that I've now lost 1.3kg in 3 days! But I really need to start tracking again to make sure I'm hitting my protein goals. I really want to maximise this bump and not "eat through it" as it feels like it wears off quicker with poor food choices.

Cookiedough123 · 06/07/2026 11:00

Morning hope everyone is ok! After moving up to 7.5 I’ve had great losses over the last 5 weeks. I’m currently down to 11st 9.6 and my goal is 11st 7. I said my last pen was my last but ended up getting another 7.5. Not sure what to do after that as I am definitely going to hit my goal using this pen. I know a few people who have been on it and some have kept it off and some have regained. I wish I could live like this forever.. the willpower and not feeling hungry helps so much! I am actually a very good dieter and I know how to lose weight as I’ve done it multiple times over the last 15 years I just absolutely love unhealthy food. I am down since Feb a total of nearly 50lbs. I just hope I can keep it off as the long term cost of MJ is just not sustainable although it is absolutely worth every penny.

I’ve actually been ok, thanks. None of the drama of my last increase when I went to 3mg. So I think I’ll try 3.5 this week, or 3.3 at the very least. Do you feel your weight loss on the 7.5 is down to eating less or is it something else going on with the increase?

Week 22. Scales say 12.10. I’ve put on 3lbs. I’m not exactly surprised as I’ve been away visiting friends and there was wine and pizza and eating out. My once a week treat habit needs reset as it was more like a once a day treat for a week! I’m not beating myself up, just resetting. I’m also mindful that the losses when I had food poisoning weren’t real. So, back to it. Wish me luck as I’m about to go on holiday again but am taking the running gear with me.

Notellinganyone · 09/07/2026 10:21

Still pootling along on 2,5 MJ here. I definitely feel hungry but while I’m losing I’m not going up as I’m hoping that it will be easier to stick to maintaining without staying on it. Start weight 12.5 , current weight 10.7 - started on Feb 12th. I went to my son’s graduation yesterday and felt great in my new dress. Last time I lost serious weight was 10 years ago and I have noticed that my dress size is not going down as quickly as it did last time. I was an 18 ish on top and 16 bottom and now am 16/14 depending on item. Am about a stone from goal weight but happy to lose that slowly.

Also considering getting a PT as am clueless with gym/weights etc. Has anyone else done this and how did you find it?

soupmaker · 09/07/2026 11:26

@Notellinganyone do you do any exercise already? Do you a pal who could chum you to a class? I’ve not used a PT but I did consider it at one point but ended up doing body pump classes for strength training and I’ve found them way better than being in the gym. Me and a few pals go. I rarely do weights in the gym. Way cheaper than a PT, and booking each class a week in advance makes me go.

TwoNicePuppies · 10/07/2026 11:08

Good morning, I love reading your updates but don’t post often. My wonderful husband had lost 2 stone and I’m very proud! Slow and steady, on 5mg MJ, very up & down but the big gains are holidays where he’s less careful. Finds it very difficult to eat on days 2/3 after jab, sticks to eggs, yogurt, game meat those days. Still a way to go but not in a hurry!

Castlebark · 10/07/2026 16:01

Weigh in day. Sadly the big loss over the weekend didn't stuck, and I bounced up again. However I have officially lost a more sensible 0.6kg this week, which does take me under 16 st. And edging closer to under 100kg. It's a good reminder for me to not pay too much attention to my daily fluctuations.

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 101.1 kg (15 st 13 lb)
GW 60kg?

Castlebark · 10/07/2026 16:14

@TwoNicePuppies glad to hear your husband is doing so well. My DH has recently mentioned potentially joining me and starting the jabs, so that could mean a big (positive) change in our household.

RedApplePie · 13/07/2026 18:16

It’s gone very quiet here 🙂. How is everyone getting on? I’m now up to 3.33mg and have been fine, no adverse effects at all so I may go to 3.5 this week and then hold it there for six weeks till holidays are all over - not so I can overindulge but because I can’t risk a repeat of earlier weeks on a plane! I’m now 12 stone 3 with a BMI of 26.8. I’m delighted. I have 170lbs firmly in my sights and I’d love to be in the 11stone bracket before I go on holiday but not expecting that to happen realistically as I’m losing around 0.8 a week and I don’t want to hang my happiness on the scale. If it happens it happens.

It has gone very quiet! I've been pretty busy though, is it the time of year? So much bloody school stuff going on in last week of term!
I am stretching out my final pen and have been taking 0.75 from a 1mg wegovy pen, but I'm debating dropping to 0.5 from next week to taper down. I am just 1kg from target now, which is amazing! I'm worried I'll pile it all back on again though.

I go away to France in a few weeks so ideally I'd like to be off by then. I wonder if I'd be able to get back on them at a lower maintenance dose, if I do gain after say, a month? Does anyone have any experience of going back on once they've stopped - as I absolutely won't be in the criteria at this point.

OP posts:
WhoInvitedHer · 15/07/2026 09:41

I’m maintaining for the last month on 0.5 Wegovy and planning to keep on that for now indefinitely or will maybe go down at some point to 0.25 but can’t see me managing with nothing as I know what I’m like.

Tbh if I thought there was a possibility of wanting to restart really soon I’d probably just order another pen to keep to hand so I maintained a prescribing history. Although that then means storing the damn thing, doesn’t it.

soupmaker · 19/07/2026 12:06

Just a quick hello. No weigh in for me on Thursday as we’re away on holiday. Didn’t bring the WLI with me to missing a jab this week. I’m not feeling any more hungry. We’re in seafood heaven so eating a lot of fish but also a lot of bread and morning pastries as it would be rude not to. However also snacking on fruit not rubbish and limiting the amount of alcohol. Will be interesting to see how the scales are come this Thursday!

Week 24. Didn’t weight last week or jab as was on holiday. Very happy to be 12.9 this morning. I don’t think the 3lb increase in week 22 was real, may have been bloat and the heat. Had a lovely week away eating out every day, pastries for breakfast with fruit, seafood for lunch and dinner, few glasses of wine. Felt easy to make good choices and not overeat. Think I’ll do one last pen, then go it alone. Have really got into my running groove and enjoying being fit and healthy, and looking so strong. Bought a summer dress from Asda in a size 14, almost had to pinch myself to make me believe it. Hope everyone getting on well.

Saturnista · 23/07/2026 19:46

@soupmaker hope you have a lovely holiday and yes, it’s dispiriting when you gain after only a little indulging….my holiday gain was gone in a week though so hope yours is too.

@Crossfitgirl have you made it to target as recall you were really near?

@Rosetime well done on keeping your your step count and calories, your June average is epic.

@RedApplePie well done on your 2 stone loss, halfway there must feel great.

I’ve just forked out for a 7.5 mg pen and upped my dose to 3.75 mg. I’m shattered but that’s really my worst side effect so that’s still positive. I’ve been out in a knee length skirt, dress and long shorts that is something I haven’t done for probably 25 years, feels amazing and people are really noticing. A tad fed up that I’m not at a 2 stone loss yet, tantalisingly close as that’ll be my halfway point to a healthy BMI and I’ll absolutely be stopping after a 4 stone loss.. Feeling more impatient as I don’t want to go back to feeling freezing cold when the weather cools down. Counting my blessings though as my step-Mum made it through her major cancer op and my elderly and illl Dad is coping OK too.

Castlebark · 24/07/2026 08:33

@soupmaker that's really positive that you've made enough changes to go it alone.

Week 23 weigh in, 0.9kg down, which is a relief. I think I was getting a little down after a gain one week, and because my average loss had dropped below a kilo a week. But so far this month I'm averaging .83kg a week which is 1.8 pounds, so definitely still a decent loss. I may need to switch to measuring in pounds!

SW 122.7 kg (19 st 4 lb)
CW 99.2 kg (15 st 9 lb)

Officially 23.5kg down which puts me at 37% of target. So still a looooooong way to go, but I'm feeling much more positive.

However, I'm now off for a week's holiday. I'm hoping I can up my activity levels as I know the diet will slip slightly. It's so much easier to manage at home, but that's not real life.

Rosetime · 24/07/2026 13:54

@Saturnista , thank-you. My July step count has not been so great but I have kept up with calorie counting and strength training.

@Castlebark , well done on your progress!

@Crossfitgirl , are you at target weight? How are you doing? I know you were a slow loser like myself.

@RedApplePie , how is the journey? What dose are you on now? How are the side effects?

@soupmaker , enjoy your holiday.

I am 6.1kg away from my initial goal weight. But thinking I may be too skinny. So i am 4.1kg away from new target weight and starting to look to maintaining.

I am on 3.75mg but from this week going down to 3.5mg for 4 weeks then 3.25mg for 4 week. I want to slow down my weight loss. Then 3mg for another 4 weeks. I hope to have reached my target weight in 12 weeks time. Then it will be all about maintenance and how i will handle it.

I feel so happy and just want to keep this new me.

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 25/07/2026 12:30

I haven’t posted in ages but wanted to give an update.
I started MJ Feb 26 and just took it for 2 months on 2.5 to prove to myself how little I ‘needed’ to eat and how everything else was just noise. I was 12 stone 3 and BMI just over 30 then (I’m short and have a small frame so weight sits badly). Those two months were my birthday present to myself but no one else knew (they still don’t). I lost a stone in those 2 months.
After that it was on me. I was worried about putting it all back on, mainly because in the past I have felt so helpless around food and weight. However, I have found that if I stick to what I ate on MJ I can still lose weight. I’m now 5 months on and 9 stone 13, so BMI within ‘normal’ range. I want to be around 9 stone 7.
My only warning is; I can’t divert at all. I log everything I eat and stick to 1200 calories a day. Nothing over. No ‘average over a week’. To be honest, I’m not enjoying food really and meals are something I need to get through. We went away for a few days and I found myself seeking out food where I could easily work out the calories (luckily DH is easygoing and will eat anywhere!). So yes, I’ve lost weight, I love how much better I look and feel and I’m proud of myself but it’s not easy to maintain and people coming off the jabs need to know that.

soupmaker · 25/07/2026 19:31

@Nocameltoeleggingsplease thank you for your post. I’m on WG 0.5 so haven’t titrated up much at all and am intending to stop after my next pen as I feel I need to go alone having made some radical changes in my eating habits and have taken up running again, to see if I can keep losing with my new way of life.
