Has anyone else become more critical of others' eating on Mounjaro?

Iv been on MJ a while and Im still on it now maintaining. I haven't always been big, I gained weight as I had some health issues that are now sorted.

This will sound hypocritical but I find other people so greedy now, constantly talking about food even though they have just eaten or ordering massive portions when out.
Always trying to arrange to go out for food and every outing has to have food included.

Does anyone else feel like this?

When you can afford something that will help you reach your goal faster and you’ve heard good things about it, you don’t need to 'give it a go' first.

Why are you even on the weigh loss injection section if you dont take them.... come to be judgemental yourself? Pot, kettle, black I see.

No, then.

It actually came up on Active, I read the title and post without twigging where it had been posted. So no - I didn’t seek out some Thursday judgment.

There are plenty (perhaps outside of this section!) that would consider that just entitled laziness.

Hopefully you’re accepting of that judgement, as you’re so full of your own.

You call it entitled laziness, I call it financial freedom to buy what I like.

Strange you didnt think a thread about MJ, would be in the weight loss section which you have no interest in as you want to 'try it on your own first'... yet been obese most of your whole life...

What research do I need to do? I don't need to know where you inject yourself to point out the utter lunacy of you judging these people who are just like you were until you got on the jabs?

Maybe they can't afford WLIs, maybe they are trying to lose weight without them, or maybe they are happy as they are. You're not better than them OP and starting a thread about how greedy they are certainly makes you look like a twat.

beasmithwentworth · 09/04/2026 22:37

Do you realise how hypocritical you sound OP? You would still be the people you are now judging (not so silently as you started a thread about it) had you not had your appetite suppressed.

It would still be pretty harsh to judge others in this way even if you had lost the weight by diet and exercise but to Judge people now that you have lost weight by WLI is even worse!

They are not accessible to everyone. If you aren’t ‘obese’ enough or don’t have the money then they are not an option so again, not something anyone should be judging others on. I had to read your post twice as I thought I had misunderstood, but I hadn’t.

Oof, I’d say I felt that insult in my bones if I could find them.

For the record, I am currently trying to make better choices without medication, as I think that sets me up better for actual change rather than just medicated change. If, and only if, that doesn’t work - I’d consider WLI for health reasons.

Which I would likely get prescribed, as I am obese enough.

I’d still prefer that to buying my way out of it with no real effort beforehand. Call it pride, if you like.

I genuinely could not care less about what or how much anyone else eats, bar my children. I don’t care that social events involve food, I just don’t eat or eat very little and that’s fine.

I sometimes think that portions in restaurants are very large but I wouldn’t say that to anyone else.

I think the thought processes about greed are not healthy OP and you might want to reflect on where thats coming from and why.

Just out of interest, are you on MJ?
I just have a small appetite and you sound a bit like me.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 09/04/2026 22:48

What did you want from this thread OP? A lot of MJ users agreeing with you that people eating normally is disgusting? That’s a very familiar playbook for those with or post EDs. Or have you just popped in to explain that (despite now being on the jabs) you were never really overweight and insult others being open and honest about their own weight issues? There’s some distressing self hatred exhibited here either way, I would either consider some therapy or alternatively try to widen your worldview/ interests again so that you can see people eating without projecting judgemental disdain on them.

SilenceInside · 09/04/2026 22:55

@user1464187087 I thought id mentioned it already but yes I’ve been on Mounjaro for about 21 months now. I do want to be clear that it’s not that I don’t eat or eat very little all the time, just at social events that revolve around food I tend not to as it usually doesn’t fit in with my diet goals.

Ineedanewsofa · 09/04/2026 22:57

It’s definitely changed my view on portion size which is a good thing for me because eating massive portions is what got me to an obese BMI in the first place!
I will sometimes see someone’s plate and think “that’s a lot of food” but I’m not judging them, more I’m reflecting on what my eating habits were like and how much has changed for me.
Pretty goady thread though @appn8 almost like you want to give folks the opportunity to slag off WLIs…

Sorry I wasn't being rude and must have missed when you mentioned it.
I'm not on weight loss jabs and would like to put some weight on.
I don't really like eating infront of a crowd of people particularly, I do it but don't particularly like it.
That has come from me having a small appetite and being slim and people saying, often loudly 'Get some more food down you! you need fattening up'.
Imagine if I insinuated that an overweight person should eat less.
Anyway I do mean that light heartedly, and I do need to get some weight on.
You sound like you are doing great.

JLou08 · 09/04/2026 23:09

I've not used weight loss injections. I've not needed them, still, I've never watched what other people eat and judged them as greedy. I have always disliked the culture around food being a social event. Luckily I have a couple of friends who prefer to do something active to socialise. I don't understand why eating out is the go to for socialising with so many people. I get that some really enjoy it if they're in to fine dining and/or trying new foods, it's a hobby for them so fair enough, but that can't be everyone that eats out, no real foodie is going to Wetherspoons are they?

imgonna · 10/04/2026 08:13

I’ve been on WLIs for about a year and recently at a carvery, I did notice how much people piled up their plates. It wasn’t a judgement though because a year ago, I’d have done the same and I know that once mounjaro is out of my system, the desire to do the same will likely come back.

For most people I’d suggest it’s not that they’re greedy or lazy, just that (like me) they developed bad habits over a long period of time. There’s also sometimes the idea that if you’re at a carvery or buffet that you need to get ‘value for money’.

For me, WLIs have snapped me out of mindless eating and showed me that I don’t actually need anything like the portions I was eating. I’m not naive though - without the drug, it would be very easy for me to slip right back into that mindset. So no, I don’t judge others - ‘there but for the grace of God etc’.

morbidcuriosity · 10/04/2026 08:37

Not critical, but its made me aware of how much I used to .

Firesidechatter · 10/04/2026 08:43

No of course not. How horrible of you. For me, I’ve been there, I understand what it’s like to over eat. Like you. And I’m fully aware it’s the meds that prevent me doing that now.

it’s abhorrent to sit and judge people like that. And I’m goin to assume it’s not the only thing you judge people on.

northernlight20 · 10/04/2026 08:50

very goady. you deliberately wanting a reaction? if so, you must be pleased with yourself as you have got exactly that.

ahshggs78 · 10/04/2026 08:51

My guilty pleasure is watching “I’m a big girl, this is what I eat in a day” videos online and sitting there in smug (silent) judgment.

What are you smug about?

ahshggs78 · 10/04/2026 08:55

@Dragonscaledaisy that I don’t eat like they do! Just a sort of validation really…when I’m feeling guilty for how I’ve eaten that day, realising I could be worse! Just to be clear these are rage bait videos, they know what they’re doing lol. One I watched yesterday she had a a king size Burger King meal for breakfast! (They’re always American).

towhoknowswhere · 10/04/2026 08:56

Pinkywoo · 09/04/2026 19:12

I used to feel like this when I had a raging eating disorder, be very careful OP.

This!! Be careful op

GetOffTheCounter · 10/04/2026 08:57

Op deliberately created an inflammatory thread and now insults posters who responded with self righteous and self congratulatory bullshit.

See it for what it is, posters.

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/04/2026 08:57

No. Not at all. I have managed to maintain my empathy for those struggling with food issues.

Dragonscaledaisy · 10/04/2026 08:58

@ahshggs78 Ah, I get it! 😊

IsItSnowing · 10/04/2026 08:59

I kind of get it actually. But I think it's that when I see people eating loads of food like that it reminds me of what I was like. And I'm judging my old eating habits more than being actually interested in what other people are eating.
I still quite enjoy eating out though. You don't have to eat huge portions to enjoy going to a restaurant with family.

Buzzlightfear · 10/04/2026 08:59

No I don't. Also I still enjoy going out to eat, I just eat less.
