Has anyone else become more critical of others' eating on Mounjaro?

Iv been on MJ a while and Im still on it now maintaining. I haven't always been big, I gained weight as I had some health issues that are now sorted.

This will sound hypocritical but I find other people so greedy now, constantly talking about food even though they have just eaten or ordering massive portions when out.
Always trying to arrange to go out for food and every outing has to have food included.

Does anyone else feel like this?

I also notice other people talking about food and making arrangements to eat. I call it expectational eating as I’m expected to go out and eat huge portions.its not just the injections but I no longer fancy a huge carvery and I’m shocked how I used to eat. I had got into the habit of eating too fast and too much and feeling stuffed was normal for me.

You would go out with people who would force feed you?! 😬

queenceleste · 09/04/2026 20:19

I used to feel like this when I smoked fags.

Everyone seemed like really greedy pigs to me. I was very disdainful 😆. But mounjaro only works while you’re taking it. It’s also making you good, you can’t really look down on those of us who have to grapple with an unmedicated appetite.

Zippidydoodah · 09/04/2026 20:43

Just get off your high horse. Find some friends who do that competitive under eating thing, and you’ll be fine.

incidentally, I had a friend who since starting the jabs has become skinny, very judgemental and horribly mean. No longer a friend.

Nanof8 · 09/04/2026 21:06

Not sure why this would bother you. I don't worry about what others put on their plates or how much as long as they eat what they take.

timeforteaandcakes · 09/04/2026 21:14

I understand where you are coming from @appn8, but it’s the meds acting on your brain making you feel this.
I can feel like this too, repulsed by people’s overloaded plates, or my own plate if given a large portion in a restaurant.
But I recognise it’s a me issue not them.
Although I don’t like to see lots of food waste at all inc buffets, that does get to me.

Im not on injections . But i kind of get what your saying . I judge myself alot. I judge other people a bit but. I know my thinking isn't logic. And I would never say it to someone because I know its more about me than them. Plus for all I know in several months I could be struggling with portions and eating habits.

I agree its a me thing and not a them thing, I just wondered if anyone else thought the same.

I was at a Chinese buffet the other week, I was too busy enjoying the company and chat to be watching the quantities that others were eating.

Although some of the combinations I did laugh at - egg fried rice with macaroni cheese on top 🤔. Don’t think I would have eaten that pre Mounjaro either 🤣

It is very easy to become immersed with your weight loss and dramatic changes to how you see food, don’t let it become an unhealthy obsession, try to divert your interests elsewhere.

Shame there isn't a 'self awareness jab' 😂

The only thing separating you and these people is the the injection in your arm every week OP. Have a word with yourself.

appn8 · 09/04/2026 22:04

PoppinjayPolly · 09/04/2026 19:18

@appn8 is it because you observed that before you had weight loss that you were judged by people judging you for being overweight and continuing to eat as you did and they called you greedy and wondered why you were eating as you did?

ha ha no... like I said... I wasnt big for long and no one ever said anything to me however, I thought it about myself when I overate as I was hungrier due to medication I had to take,

It’s interesting that you think it’s important for people to know that you weren’t obese for long and that it was due to health issues that are now resolved. Would it matter if you been obese since childhood and without any direct health issue causing it?

appn8 · 09/04/2026 22:09

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 09/04/2026 19:57

I think it's a bit rich to consider other people greedy when you're too greedy to lose weight without an appetite suppressant.

At least Iv done something about my greed 😘

Well I may think differently If I was always obese. Who knows

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 09/04/2026 22:15

It seems like you place a value on the cause of obesity and the ability to have addressed it quickly, albeit with the assistance of WLI.

I don’t know if you’d have a different attitude if you’d always been obese. Certainly I have no judgement or repulsion from other people’s eating choices, having been obese for most of my life and now on Mounjaro. No idea if that’s typical.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 09/04/2026 22:15

I have been obese most of my life, and I’d still rather try and lose weight myself before injecting myself.

Maybe if you had been overweight for longer, you’d have a better understanding of how other peoples relationships with food are different to yours.

What absolute judgemental nonsense.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 09/04/2026 22:17

I’d be interested to learn if OP tried to lose that “temporary” weight independently first without turning to jabs, because health issues aside most people have at least given it a go before going on them.

SilenceInside · 09/04/2026 22:20

I don’t think that matters, really. There’s no requirement to have tried and not succeeded first.

WhatNextImScared · 09/04/2026 22:20

When I was young I had a friend with such severe anorexia she was sectioned for a long time to keep her alive. About a year before this point she had a lot of opinions about everyone else’s food choices. It’s a hyper fixation that can become dangerous. Lots of psychologists have warned about the risk of GLP use triggering eating disorder. If you’re not already in therapy I think it sounds like this might be a good time to explore it.

There isn’t, I’d just be interested to see if she places a value on that too, or just on other people’s potatoes.

When you can afford something that will help you reach your goal faster and you’ve heard good things about it, you don’t need to 'give it a go' first.

Why are you even on the weigh loss injection section if you dont take them.... come to be judgemental yourself? Pot, kettle, black I see.
