Can't believe we filled up a whole thread! Welcome to thread 2.

On a positive note to start us off, I've lost 1lb of the two that I gained from my autumnal apple crumble caper. Filling full of resolve and pleased to know I can gain a pound or two (which is of course completely normal) and then lose them again.

Hello, Can I join you?
I have recently switched from 'operation get slim', to 'operation stay slim' and am now aiming to maintain my 5 stone loss.
I would love to read how all of you are doing!
Would it be possible to have a link to page 1 of your group so I can see how you got on at the start, and see what tips I can pick up there as well.
Thank you! 😁

Slimhopes · 03/09/2025 11:38

Hello! I’m on the auggies24 group and have lurked around this one as I approached goal so popping on to join also please.
Really helpful to hear positive stories of maintaining off mounjaro as that’s what I hope to do. I’ve lost 6st 10lbs since last august and BMI now 21.9 (down from 40😛). I’m on my last 15mg pen and then have pens to titrate down which will do me until March and then hope to manage without it. I’m nervous even going down the doses as I’m scared of regaining but it’s been great to see those managing to stay within their goal weight so thanks everyone for sharing their stories as it really helps😊

Congratulations on all that you have lost. That is fantastic. What is your plan for this stage?

Hello @Slimhopes fellow August2024 starter! Incredible weight loss. You've also got a really good supply so that you can take it slowly and get used to establishing what maintenance looks like for you. Lovely to see you here 😊

Waves. Thanks for new thread

im maintaining and reducing dose. Now 7.5

I will add that juniper are actually very helpful and I said website seems to imply subscription is locked in for 6mths and he said that isn’t the case. You can cancel pause anytime

as I cancelled they have given me £60 off next pen and £40 off the 2nd one with my use by date

so will go back to them once used my stash

That is good news @Blondeshavemorefun . Out of interest, is that for MJ or Wegovy with Juniper?

Mj

DareDevil223 · 03/09/2025 13:46

I think it's time for me to join this thread. I've lost over 9 and a half stone over the last 2+ years (Wegovy, then MJ as I neared maintenance). I have gone from a BMI of 44 to 23. I'd like to lose a few more lbs but timescale is not an issue as I am now very fit and healthy and a size 8-10.

I never went higher than 10mg and have now gone down to 7.5. I'm planning to stay on long term but will titrate down to 5mg I think.

WLI have changed and probably saved my life.

1clavdivs · 03/09/2025 13:56

Hello, also joining from the Auggies thread as I’m 1lb away from goal at BMI 23.5. Intending to finish the 12.5 I’m on (four weeks left) to see where that leaves me, then drop down to 10. Terrified of regain but hoping the fact that my loss has been super slow (less than 1lb a week average) is making me hope it might be slow to go back on too…..?

MargoLivebetter · 03/09/2025 14:02

Welcome @DareDevil223 and @1clavdivs . More great successes. 👏👏Hopefully lots of inspiration here and from the last thread to give you faith that you can maintain too.

Hi all, I'm currently tapering down from 15mg, which I used for one month because I found it super strong suppression, nausea, could only manage 700-900 cals a day and that was with forcing food in and was losing a lot of hair. This was all unexpected as I went up from 12.5 at bmi 25 because I was getting super hungry and craving carbs early on after jabbing after only 7 weeks on it, did the rest of pen with jabbing every 5 days to finish it off which helped bring back suppression.

I'm now down to 10.5mg, used clicks to dose 12.5mg and 12mg, which were still really strong! Then 10.5mg on Saturday morning expecting to be starving but it's now Wednesday and I've been exercising regularly since last week and did 2hrs DIY painting gloss with a brush yesterday was exhausted but still only managed 1069 cals, not sure what is going on, but I was prediabetic for years before starting so the doses didn't do much and wore off quickly until 10mg and that resolved my high blood sugar symptoms, so I can only guess now I'm 9st 9lbs bmi 23.9, my prediabetes and insulin resistance is reversed so the higher doses are too strong for me. Has anyone else experienced this?
I mean it's good to go down doses with current prices but completely unexpected, I'm not even hungry on a morning, just have a coffee and forced a slice of toast with marmite today! I do eat more protein 60-80g a day so maybe that's helping?

MargoLivebetter · 03/09/2025 14:21

@Mysticmaiden is there anyway you get some blood tests done to see if you brought your prediabetic readings back into normal range? Do you get checks done via your GP? Could also explain why you are not feeling hungry.

Protein makes a massive difference for me. If I don't have enough, I soon know because I get hungry really quickly, so that might be helping too.

All sounds really positive though.

Thanks for advice, long story so in June 22 I had nhs health check at 40 yrs old was told all liver, kidney, heart tests fine just low haemoglobin so take iron. In Sept 23 went to GP as had frozen shoulder, had high bp for years in and kept getting respiratory infections, 7 in 6 months June to Dec 22. GP asked for HBA1C test as not been done with nhs test, week later receptionist told me was normal.
A few months ago, changed GP, all results uploaded on app, lo and behold my nhs had abnormal liver result, hyperchromic cells very high, low haemoglobin and plasma glucose top of range 5.5. The found out my HBA1C was 45 which is actually close to clinically diabetic, which is 48 and above. Had no follow up with previous GP, they were really bad. April 24 I went with symptoms lump under armpit, shaking hands, exhaustion and dizziness, GP told me blocked hair follicle and take iron, asked for blood test, GP said symptoms not linked to lump and take iron, symptoms continued.
Haven't been to new GP yet as work mon-fri and when I don't I'm busy, but I really need a check up. Either way, the doses are too strong so I'll keep going down for now!

MargoLivebetter · 03/09/2025 15:06

You have my sympathy @Mysticmaiden . You really have to be your own advocate these days! It feels like you are caught between a rock and hard place because so much is dismissed or overlooked and yet when you do get assertive and knowledgeable, they get the hump!!!!

I hope you can get an appointment with your new GP and get some appropriate investigations or diagnosis. At least you have control with the MJ you can react to your own physical responses and titrate down.

Thank you, appreciate it. It's quite sad the state of healthcare now and I've worked for nhs for over 20 years and even getting a GP appointment or referred is really difficult and frustrating when you know something is not right/have symptoms.
I do believe in listening to my body so for now I'll use intuition, suppression and calorie intake as a guide!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/09/2025 16:23

Nice to see my auggies 😍

Witchyandtwitchy · 03/09/2025 17:09

Can I join?
I hit my goal today! 🥳
I started in Sept last year and I’ve steadily lost 4st.
I can’t believe I did it and fairly easily too.

Im now BMI 24.8. I’m happy to lose a few more pounds only to give myself a buffer as I want to stay 12st or under. I’m 55 so don’t want to get super slim and saggy faced!

I’ve got one more 10mg to take, then planning on slowly coming down the doses.

Does anyone understand much about set point theory? Just wondering how you alter your set point? And how long you need to stay a lower weight for your body to accept it?

RightImDoingThis · 03/09/2025 18:05

Hello thread!

I have lurked on the first thread but have decided to start weaning myself off. I have lost 2st 8lb and ideally I would have lost another stone. But, health concerns and Mounjarogeddon have forced my hand.

I am finishing off a pen, split-dosing, and probably going to do 4mg, 3mg, 2mg, 2mg (I have never gone above 4mg).

@Witchyandtwitchy I am 90% sure I read that ideally you'd stay on a low dose for a year to set a new weight set point and maximise your chances of maintaining. As I'm not able to do this, I am really trying to do what I can in terms of good habits.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 03/09/2025 18:29

Talking about methods of maintaining @MargoLivebetter and set points @Witchyandtwitchy

This time last year I was absolutely miserable.
Late into the Autumn I decided that I wanted to know more about WLI's so booked an appointment with a bariatric consultant at our local private hospital. I had no idea that you could get WLI's from legitimate on-line pharmacies, I just heard of people getting them 'on line' and then being admitted into hospital with the dire consequences. So I wanted to actually be 'looked after' by a proffessional.

I saw a really lovely, understanding Doctor and he has been prescribing me MJ ever since.
I have lost over 5 stone, feel like a new woman (My husband says I feel like a new woman as well!), BMI 23.7, and now own a whole heap of new clothes!

The consultation routine is that one month I have a telephone consultation with my Dr, the next month I just email him an update, and so on.
Last time we chatted he mentioned that his maintenance plan is to stay on the same dose to start with(12.5mg in my case), but to slowly spread out the doses.
So over a month or so I am spreading out the doses until I get to every 10 days, stick there for a couple of weeks and then continue increasing the gap between doses until I am injecting every 2 weeks.
At that point I will start to decrease the dosage.

He explained that this process will help to re-set my set point.
Basically having been overweight most of my life, with occasional periods of successful dieting but always slowly regaining every pound and stone, my body/brain/psychae thinks that over 16 stone is my healthy weight and will fight to get back there. That is my current 'set point'.

He believes that this way of maintaining with WLI's re-sets ones set points, so that eventually my body will be happy at 11stone something, and not fight tooth and nail to pile weight back on.
As well as lots of successful patients he has a close family member who has done it this way.
Some patients come off it entirely, some stay on a low dose at 10 day/2 weekly intervals for the foreseeable future.

When I emailed him recently I said that I had got to my target weight and would start to spread out my doses very slowly. However, I haven't spoken to him about the fact that by doing this I will eventually be using the pen way beyond the 30 days.
The current pen will only be used for 35 days, which I am happy with.
When I talk to him in a few weeks, that is exactly what I am going to ask!

Last week I jabbed after 8 days, and still lost 1lb. This week I will jab after 9 days.
What I find tricky is adding a bit more food on the days that the MJ effect is lighter. I have not counted calories at all, so I am sticking with mainly protein and fibre and a few glasses of wine at the weekend. But inevitably some hunger will creep back in and I will have to make healthy choices and resist the 'food noise', knowing that in a few days the MJ will be at full effect again and life will be easier. At least, That's the plan!

Witchyandtwitchy · 03/09/2025 18:50

@MagnoliaTreePetals
That’s really interesting thanks for explaining that.

I currently have 4 pens in the fridge as I ordered every month and used 5 doses.
So I could do another month on 10mg, then start spreading them out as I step down the doses. 7.5mg and 2x 5mg.

This approach could give me another 7 months or so on MJ before going it alone. Hopefully getting used to coping with a bit more hunger in a controlled way.

I’d be interested to hear what your consultant says about the 30day rule.

gimmemounjaro · 03/09/2025 19:12

Ooh, checking in. Thanks for the new thread.

Choux · 03/09/2025 19:46

Checking in. Currently taking 10mg doses from a 12.5mg pen. BMI of 24. Thinking of trying 7.5mg next week as I want to wean myself down. Still have two 10mg pens in the fridge and will buy a 7.5mg at end of Sept. Going to play it by ear in terms of how low I get.

With my first ever pen I took the bonus dose after 42 days. Back then there was no 30 day guideline. It still suppressed me. My immune system is good and I practice good injection hygiene so am ok in theory with getting 10 x 5mg doses from a 10mg pen which is 63 days.

Tohaveandtohold · 03/09/2025 21:36

@Mysticmaiden I am similar to you - 15mg too strong, so I went back to 10mg and stayed there for a few months. It started to feel too much though, and as I was approaching goal I started to reduce very gradually. I have been on 7.5mg for a month or so and even that feels too much now, so yesterday I took 7mg. I am still finding it easy to eat well with small portions, not really getting hungry, it’s working just the same as ever, only it’s less than half of my highest dose. Like PPs I have a bit of a stash from ordering at the first reminder and using the 5th dose, so was planning to reduce super slowly over several months, but I’m not sure I’ll tolerate MJ for that long, it really does feel like my body might have had enough. So fingers crossed I can manage without 😬

This is exactly how I would describe it, like my body has had enough, but I couldn't find the right words for what I was feeling so thanks for that and thanks for sharing your similar story too.
Glad I'm not the only one with the weird body going up to high doses because they wore off quickly then can't tolerate them going down!
What is your bmi and weight? Did you have prediabetes or insulin resistance? a big sign can be carb or sugar cravings. I'm wondering if we are healed and back to 'normal' so it's too much for us or maybe out pancreas is finally working as it should so doesn't need the extra GLP activation and insulin??
I've just done 3 hours DIY and physically exhausted yet only managed 1100 cals and I'm super full! I'll be glad to drop down to lower doses and stay on them hopefully until Xmas and my birthday in December is over!

I'm doing 10 doses of 2.5 from a 5mg pen, I don't store it in the fridge, I probably should but I'm a secret jabber.
I've been on 2.5 since I got to my goal at the end of may. I've done a couple of weeks at 3.75 when I felt I had started to eat too much sugar (previous binge eater). My plan was to stay on the jabs for a year because I was with SheMed, I think my intention is to at least do that, if not maintain my weight for a year, so be on them for 18 months. I like the idea of slowly extending the time out. I probably wouldn't do this whilst I have the 5mg pens but once I've exhausted them (one on the go, one in the fridge and waiting for one to be approved) I think I will order 2.5 and give that a go. I have autoimmune thyroid disease and I think mj helps with that hence not really wanting to come off or try wegovy. I definitely feel like my body can use food for fuel better and I don't binge eating sugar (although eat a lot more on 2.5 than I do at a higher dose)
