Thread 2 because we have reached our goal weights and we want to maintain not regain. We might be going cold turkey or titrating down or staying on!

Can't believe we filled up a whole thread! Welcome to thread 2.

On a positive note to start us off, I've lost 1lb of the two that I gained from my autumnal apple crumble caper. Filling full of resolve and pleased to know I can gain a pound or two (which is of course completely normal) and then lose them again.

Would appreciate an update about your maintenance consultation. Was the registration process for pharmulous easy? Is it photo of scales and full body?

Yes easy to register. I’m not sure they called me as not on my Phone log

I applied for so many after the price rise news

I think I had to send in pics of me on scales and then pics of me front and side plus previous box with my name /doseage

they reply quickly and pen sent next day

Welcome @flobbynomore and congratulations on your loss. Glad to hear you are happy with the Oushk maintenance option.

With regard to hair, are you eating plenty of protein and have you checked your ferritin levels? I'm guessing at 58 you are not still having periods, so you shouldn't have low iron, but it is always worth checking. Even though I'm menopausal, I drink gallons of tea, which inhibits iron absorption and so I still take an iron supplement twice a week to help me stay in range. I have fine hair and it did fall more while I was on MJ. That stopped when I came off. Maybe as you reduce doses it will help.

Room for one more?! I'm currently at target - started MJ in March and have lost 3 1/2 stone. I'm now 9 stone 11 which I'm very happy with. Max dose I hit was 10 mg which I was on for 3 months and this month I've gone down to 7.5mg, and it will be my last pen as I cant afford it with the new prices. I have 3 doses left in the pen so I'm going to split each dose to 3.25mg and make it last for 6 weeks rather than 3 - I'll then be going cold turkey.

Welcome @EchoNova and congratulations on your loss. Keep us posted with how you get along reducing and maintaining.

Hi all, I have been lurking but wanted to officially join the thread. I started in January at 12st 2 and now I’m 8st 9ish. My ‘official’ goal was 8st 7 but I’m not really that fussed over an extra 2lbs so I’ve stopped actively trying to lose now. I started at a size 12/14 and now wearing 6/8, which is crazy to me!! I’ve been a size 12 or above since being a pre-teen, so pretty much 25 years of being overweight and never being a healthy weight as an adult. It feels strange and my head hasn’t really caught up with my body yet. A lot of days I still feel fat to be honest. I think maybe because I have loose skin and I’m still very wobbly, so my body doesn’t really match up with what I imagine an 8 and a half stone woman to look like. I do look good in clothes though so I will give myself that!

I had originally planned to stay on for as long as possible as the lack of food noise has been transformative for me, but I’m another who can’t afford the price rises. I’ve started titrating down from my highest dose of 10mg, and I’m 2 weeks in to 7.5mg. I have a 5 and a 2.5 ready in the fridge.

Honestly I am worried about coming off completely. I haven’t calorie counted at all, and have just been more mindful of eating less carbs/sugar and more protein. I don’t want to have to calorie count as I see it as such a chore. But bad habits have been creeping in recently and I’ve definitely got my sweet tooth back. I’m worried I’m going to pile the weight back on!

20bloodypounds · 08/09/2025 21:56

@discov I started in September 2024, and have lost something similar to you (from a higher starting point and end point). With regards to body, body shape, loose skin etc. I've found there have been periods of consolidation when I haven't lost weight, but body measurements have changed, and things have 'tightened up' a bit. I had a long stall in the first couple of months of this year when I didn't lose any weight, but paradoxically that was when people were like 'wow, you've lost weight!'. And my clothes fitted better (or worse, if they were bigger sizes - hanging off me).

Mysticmaiden · 08/09/2025 23:25

@Blondeshavemorefun juniper are subscription based, so I'm not looking for that's, thanks though.

Azuresky68 · 09/09/2025 06:52

@Blondeshavemorefun Many thanks for the price comparison collage, that's really helpful.
I have enough to last until just after Christmas and am spacing jabs out, but looks like I will need to change from Oushk, as I don't want to come off MJ. I am hoping to use 5 as a maintenance dose eventually, but going to be on 12.5, then 10 for the rest of this year.
It took me a few weeks on 15 to get to my goal.

Looks like Pharmulous is a good option for the future.
Thanks again for all the information Blondes 😍

Azuresky68 · 09/09/2025 06:56

Remember my panic over gaining 4 pounds after 5 days away? Thanks for reassurance and support. You were right of course and in my head I knew it really. I have lost 3 of the 4 pounds and when I weigh again on Friday I am hopefully back on track 🤞

discov · 09/09/2025 07:36

Thanks @20bloodypounds, I do suspect I have lipedema as I have most of the symptoms so that may also be a factor in why my arms and legs are so bad. Stomach is a weird one, I’ve always had pockets of fat on my upper abdomen where my ribs are and it’s left droopy skin. I can cope with the lower stomach since I have grown a baby in there (albeit almost 12 years ago!) but the upper stomach really bothers me. It looks like a melted candle! I showed my DM and she said it looks like the stomach of someone who has lost at least double the amount I have. Maybe my skin just doesn’t have much elasticity.

I have been dry brushing and moisturising a lot to see if it helps. I am hoping it will settle and maybe improve slightly over time as you say. To be honest, I think the only way to fix it would be surgery which I’m 100% never going to do so I probably just need to work on accepting myself a bit more!

Fairyflaps · 09/09/2025 08:24

@20bloodypounds I've barely lost any weight since the end of June - a kilo at most. This is fine as I'm now at a healthy weight, but the clothes I was wearing then are now hanging off me. It's like my body takes a while to catch up.
It's taking my head longer. If it wasn't for what clothes fit me, I don't really see/ feel much of a difference to how I was when I was overweight.

I feel the same, it’s odd! Do you ever catch your reflection in a shop window and have to do a double take because there’s a slim person looking back at you? 😄

Fairyflaps · 09/09/2025 08:44

@discov no, because (to me at least) I still look the same.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 09/09/2025 09:17

@discov & @Fairyflaps It's both! When I glance at my reflection I switch between 'Oh my goodness, that slim person is me', to 'Meh! can't see the difference' I think it has a lot to do with what I am wearing. If it is new clothes, then I can really see the difference, but if it's old familiar clothes that I have adjusted & taken in, then my brain doesn't seem so impressed!

I have bought a couple of things in the end of season sales which fit perfectly and are flattering, but they are quite lightweight and will soon be wrong for the time of year.
The clothes I have adjusted are all warmer clothes and fit OK, but not brilliantly. In time I will probably replace them (hurrah for Vinted and pre-season sales) especially what are now big baggy tops and jumpers which are more difficult to adjust.

I think that after 40ish years of self criticism (not to mention criticism from the world in general) it is really hard to get out of the habit. I always look firstly for the flaws and 'problem areas', and am in the habit of judging myself harshly.
This is all part of the psychological aspect of obesity and something I am working on, or at least trying to.

Pleasure

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2025 10:43

I still look in the mirror and think I look fat /chinky thighs deffo.

yet in my brain I know I can’t be if buying size 12 and was 20 and have lost nearly 7s

i look back at older ‘fat’ pics of me and think wow. I was a def porker. But I didn’t see it then

it I don’t look at other people and think wow you are big /fat
that’s just me

MargoLivebetter · 09/09/2025 11:23

I think I'm used to seeing myself now, but I still find it really difficult to remember to pick the right size clothes in the shops to try on!

Well I ordered a pen from pharmulous in the end, just to give me the safety blanket of jumping back on within a year if it all goes terribly wrong. I'm hoping I'll be able to maintain though 🤞

Also been clearing out my clothes as everything is hanging off me. I'm nervous to give away/donate in case I need them again, but I'm determined not to 😬

20bloodypounds · 09/09/2025 13:35

@KenIsAnAccessory I really want to manage to maintain (more or less at the same weight) without MJ, but it's a scary thought, so I'm with you on the 'just in case' approach.

Go on, get rid of the clothes. I always feel mentally lighter after a clear-out. Someone else can have the pleasure!

It's 8 days since I jabbed 15 and I have managed to consume an average of 1100 calories over 7 days, despite being away for 5 days. Going to jab now and see if I get suppression for 8 days again. I need some wriggle room as I am away for 18 days in just under 3 weeks and I am already dreaming of the cocktails 🌞🍸🌞🍸
