Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I recommend the Farmer J chain for London salads that may do more for you. My new lunch obsession, there is one 2min from my office (expensive but worth it).

Thanks to some very long working hours plus kids I'm doing zero exercise at the moment. Not good.

Will definitely try Farmer J next time!

Another day, another weigh in of 11st 0.6lbs 😭

That is a zero loss since Monday morning which is a first for me. Not gonna lie, bit disheartening as that was 4 Pvolve classes ago, 2 hours of tennis and 4 incline walks of at least 45 mins each. I’ve had OMAD, no booze and eaten low carb, protein rich foods. No naughtiness. Only difference this week is that I went up to 6.25mg. No change in suppression but no side effects either.

DD is back from University tonight for Mother’s Day weekend (🥰) so I was planning a nice glass of rose if I had got to under 11stone…. Looks like that is off the table now 😢

I know I’m being ridiculous and I will do a MeThreeSixty later to check any inch losses but for now I’m in a pity party for one 😂

Feel for you @Mounjaropen. Why do we always get stuck just above a stone bracket? It is never - 'how annoying I have been x stone 13 for two weeks'. I think you still deserve the wine 🍷

IKR? I seem to skip down once I get over the stone barrier hurdle. And this stone coming will be the hardest to lose so I need to pull on my big girl pants and keep buggering on 💪🏻

@Goldleafcat I had my hair cut last week. It’s always around the between the shoulder blades length. Haven’t had it above shoulder length since I was a teenager. Now 48. Had it chopped to a long bob last week, one that is a little longer around the face. I love it. Think it must be me not feeling like I need to hide my double chin behind my hair any more 😆

Aaaaaand another 2 referrals this morning…..

Yay it sounds lovely! So pleased you like it. So nice for us to not want to hide behind hair!

Goldleafcat · 28/03/2025 07:53

Happy Friday all! I had lost another pound again (taking me to 38 guinea pigs) but on weighing myself this morning I’ve put one back on. But I did meet a friend at the pub last night and 2 large wines, 2 pints later, this morning I’m feeling distinctly like a badger’s arse 🦡.

In hair news I’m now extremely blonde (keep jumping slightly when I look in the mirror) and am the proud owner of a very subtle long fringe. Took quite a few inches off the length too.

I’ve got reformer Pilates later but not till lunchtime thank the gods. My DH is out tonight for a work reunion thing so I’m looking forward to an early bedtime with my toddler 😆

Will try to not eat all the carbs under the sun today!

I feel your pain, I’ve been 10.4.2 or 10.4.4 since Sunday. My period came this week, though, so I’m putting it down to that. Flipping biology!

MsRumpole · 28/03/2025 08:16

@RayonSunrise I think it's entirely possible. If you use Shotsy you'll see that the base/permanent amount of MJ in your bloodstream goes up incrementally every time you inject - obviously that will peak at some point if you don't start using a higher pen, but I am still on a 5mh pen and suppression has definitely continued to go up over time for me so far.

Skincare: I listened to a Zoe podcast featuring a consultant dermatologist who says that the evidence shows that the things that work for skin are: sunscreen, antioxidants such as Vit C, and retinol. She says the jury is out on collagen but your best bet is probably to try to get it through diets such as the Mediterranean diet.

Finally, I am within a whisper of dropping from the 21stone bracket to the 20s. I'm very happy with my weight loss which so far is a steady 2lb loss per week. Sticking with 5mg for the moment.

After last week's slow down I've knocked off 2lb this week and am loving the difference in scans between Jan & March. 11.5.6 stone so chipping away. My healthy BMI starts at 10 stone.

I've lost a smidge over a stone in that time. It really shows! I've celebrated with a coffee and 2 prunes 😂

Oh that’s frustrating. Enjoy your Mother’s Day weekend with your DD. You’ve lost loads and your fitness journey is incredibly impressive. You will look fabulous in your new blouse too.

no loss here this week either. It’s a marathon not a sprint. And we are all closer to the finish line than when we started.

TeenLifeMum · 28/03/2025 09:06

KBO! You will get there. I've been interested to read about body set points and how sometimes stalls are a product of that, it just takes time for the body to adjust to its new weight. I try to keep in mind that SO many extra calories are needed to put on a pound of fat, so when I see a small gain or a stall, it must be water etc etc. I know it is disheartening though, and completely agree on why it seems so hard to go through the stone barriers!!

That's interesting. Recently I've been getting night time cramps and diarrhoea which wake me up (I'm on my third week of 7.5). Today is jab day and I'm feeling a bit anxious about it, but think I will go for the full dose as I had similar on 5 but persisted and in the end was fine.

Della82 · 28/03/2025 09:54

late update for me!

Am on w20 d2
my total loss for w19 was 0.1kg 😂😂😂 😭😭😭
SW 90kg
CW72kg

trying to not be too despondent
onwards and downwards!
a loss is still a loss!

I did have a tough week and I didn’t fall off the diet wagon so that is good. I am due my period so blaming hormones.

I am definitely feeling the benefits of the weight I have lost so just need to KBO 😁

well done everyone for being in the journey 💪

After my whinging this morning I popped into a dry cleaners I haven’t used for ages and the woman behind the counter said “if it wasn’t for your voice I would not have recognised you at all! Everything about you is different - even your fingers are thinner”

Obviously she checked i hadn’t been ill first, but it was a really surprising reaction and I don’t think I look that different!

On the downside I had a pelvic ultrasound scan this morning for gynae reasons… consultant asked me how long I’d had the gallstone for? I was completely unaware I had any at all as to my knowledge I haven’t had any symptoms.! so now I’m off to Google how to control them… which I understand is through diet, but my diet is already low fat 😩

Amazing NSV! Congrats. At least your gallstone is not causing any symptoms.

I think lots of people have them, even quite big ones, and they're largely asymptomatic and discovered during other examinations. I have them and I think they grumble occasionally but it's totally manageable.

I've just googled, and they seem pretty common, including in those who lose a large amount of weight!

PinkArt · 28/03/2025 10:31

Weighing in.

W19D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 8lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 3st 1lb

Woop, that's better, it's going back down again.

Re the gallstones, I was told that most people have them but only usually find out through scans for other things. The five factors that make them more likely are 'Female, Fertile, Fat, Fair, and Forty', which I would imagine is a fair few of us here! They are only a problem if they're creating a problem, but tiny ones that just pass through your system or big ones that can't leave the gallbladder usually don't tend to create any issues.

Your gallbladder will normally let you know if something is wrong. Because I've got IBS it took me a while to work out that the gallbladder attacks were something different, but I'd get horrific cramping all round my torso and then throw up, just once or twice initially but all day by the last one. That was happening maybe a couple of times a year.

The point I talked to a doctor about surgery was when I developed what felt a bit like a permanent light stitch or bruise. It wasn't especially painful but I was very aware of it. After I had the op the surgeon said it was very inflamed so I think I was lucky it hadn't been more painful than it was.

jay55 · 28/03/2025 10:57

@itsnotagameshow have the same midnight runs on 7.5 a couple of nights a week, glad to hear I’m not the only one.

Fatigue is the biggest issue for me right now and it zaps motivation to eat well. Have made sure I have a load of fruit and protein friendly snacks in to help.

Have decided on a fancy pair of shoes when I hit my next big goal. So hope that will motivate me to keep going.
