Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

In non-weight self-care news, my skincare journey continues. I've now added Vitamin C to mornings, so in the mornings it's: cleanse, tone, Vit C serum, HA serum, HA eye cream, SPF moisturiser. And then retinoltastic in the evenings.

I'm now hearing that I should be adding Medik8 peptides in the morning. Any views on peptides? And where do I add them if I decide to spend (gulp) £55 on them?

Ooh that sounds like a fab routine 👏
I prefer to use my Peptide cream - I'm currently using a Kate Sommerville one as we speak- it's my holy grail product - as my PM moisturiser as a repair product. You can apply twice a day though - but you need to give each step a chance to sink into the skin before applying the next and for me, that is easier in the evening.

Woo hoo for healthy BMI and absolutely yes 24.9 100% counts!

I'm going to treat myself to a session with a stylist when I hit goal and get myself a little capsule wardrobe of gorgeous, chic outfits

Ooh - gorgeous and chic as all the adjectives we want for our new wardrobes! 😍

Firstly, I’m very jealous of your week of less disturbed sleep… I’ve give my right arm for that! Between kids/dogs/DH, I can’t remember the last time I had two solid nights sleep in a row. Enjoy it!

It’s definitely true that Mounjaro pays for itself - as a family, there are still takeaway orders, but they’re less than 6 months ago because I tend to just do something myself from the kitchen. I don’t pop in to the bakery every week when I drive past it, and I can go to a shop for bread and milk without buying sweets/cake/chocolate/croissants (although I have a real craving for a fresh croissant at the moment!). I’ve definitely shaved over £150 off the weekly food spend.

That is going to be completely wiped out by the amount I need to spend on clothing though… I’m tantalisingly close to where I’m happy to end up, and size-wise that’s a 12. Unfortunately, I only have 1 pair of jeans (which aren’t an ’everyday’ style) and a handful of tops that are the right size… a complete restock is in order and I don’t want to go back to buying Primarni/supermarket clothing that ‘will do’ - I want clothes that will last, along with my new weight.

In breaking news today, I finally hit a healthy BMI (24.9 - but that counts, right?!) I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t classed as overweight!!

Woohoo for the BMI! Fab job.

Definitely think about how you want to present yourself and start there. I'm more about quality classics than following the latest trends. I have hand bags and shoes that have been with me for decades. A lovely pair of well-fitting jeans, white shirt and good blazer takes you everywhere - you can dress up or dow with fancy shoes or trainers.

Excellent job with the food bill! My wine bill is definitely lower 😂

@Mounjaropen Is this the Peptide K8 cream? How long does a pot last? I wonder if I can get a sample first

Are you spontaneous? I think if you go through life as a spontaneous person you can end up having too many ‘treats’ because it seems like a fun thing to do at the time. I know this is why I have eaten too many restaurant meals, maccys and my family’s favourite Five Guys. I get a sudden urge to do something ‘fun’ and eating out was a quick fix.

I need to change and find some other way if injecting a bit of fun into our lives. No idea what to replace it with though. I don’t think a trip to the garden centre will have the same effect on a pair of teenagers 🤣.

I do feel more optimistic, I feel really happy - I wish I was a deeper person but being slimmer has made me happier. To look into the changing room mirror and feel good about myself is a miracle.

Good luck with the new dumb bells! Your arms will look fab in your new sleeveless waistcoat!

You're right - I'm very spontaneous - and thankfully DH is good with that. We don't plan ages in advance for much - this is one of the rare times we have booked a holiday in advance for example. Food and eating out is a shared passion but I'm happy we can still do that but offset those meals against being healthier in the week.

I'm good with being as deep as a puddle tbh and I am enjoying actually looking in the mirror instead of avoiding acknowledging what was clearly an issue! 😂

Edited

It lasts about 2 months I reckon but I tend to only buy it if it is on serious offer (Caroline Hirons kit for example). It is unbeliveably good - but it should be. A decent dupe for me was the Inkey List Peptide cream. But I have a load of Elemis pro-collagen to use up so I don't need to purchase anything for a while.

Weigh in day and only half a lb off. A bit disappointed but at least it’s a loss.

Still suffering from the after effects of covid 🦠 😷 and still wanting to eat rubbish.

So my hairdresser told me she on MJ and she also told me about someone else that we know is in them as well! I was so tempted to tell her but I didn’t! Everyone would know then! 😂

Della82 · 16/04/2025 21:39

@Mounjaropen yay for the new dumbells! And for the positive vibes! I’m loving my slimmer self, although not so keen on saggy inner thighs and my squishy stomach! But I’m working on that 😂

Well o can recommend the bio oil body lotion to make the skin on the saggy thighs and tummy feel as soft as a newborn’s. Mine look dreadful but feel fab 😂

Obviously I’m researching body treatments to resolve this (my new hobby) but hoping the consistent exercise plus the loss of a further stone or so will help resolve it to a degree. 🤞🏻

I’m on the bio oil lotion too! It’s lovely.

i look forward to the fruits of your treatment research! It’s all a bit alien to me but I think I need some extra help! Post 40 skin is not so kind as the skin of my youth 😂😂

DarkForces · 16/04/2025 12:21

That's so kind @Arglefraster . They're pretty wobbly irl but I'm delighted with them. It's very strange to look in the mirror and be pretty happy with what I see

That's a lovely thing to be happy with what you see, how fucked up it is that we're not usually!

I don't remember ever liking what I see but I do remember how good it feels when I don't care what I see😃
There used to be an advert with a baby saying something like "was this the last time you were comfortable with your body" (possibly not a great advert as I have no idea what is was for...) & that really resonated with me.

I try to remember that all the trees are beautiful; no matter how wind blown or scarred they are all awesome parts of nature.

Waffle over 🙈

My spontaneity / hideous lack of self control has definitely wanted on the food front but sadly not on the jewellery front 🤦🏻‍♀️ I successfully stood in front of the donuts in Sainsburys earlier though and didn't buy one. I let myself properly consider if I wanted done, and I did a little bit, but not enough to want to buy one. Now to transfer that willpower to gemstone rings because those little bits of sparkle get me every time.

Morning fellow death jabbers.

So thus morning could have taken a very different path....I stepped on the scales after a week of being stuck and have put on a kg!! Wtf?! Then I remembered I have had 2 nights of pasta cooked in very salty water (gnocchi - my absolute favourite). And my thighs and butt still ache from a heavy weights session on Sunday. So lots of water retention going on probably.

So I decided to have a trying on session as dh keeps telling me he's never known me so skinny. Well! NSV everywhere this morning! The skirt dh bought me 15 years ago and I could never do up fully and I thought was a poor fit because of my belly fat - now zip up easily but still looks shit because it's a shit design. The hip to waist ratio is ridiculous and I could smuggle 4 peasants underneath it and still have space for more around the hips!

The skirt i wore the winter before we got married, bought on a day i was feeling very skinny, now zips up like a dream and looks great. Oasis sure 14 but really a 12 imo.

The skirt I wore on our 1st wedding anniversary (and was cutting me in half by the time we finished our meal) now goes on without me having to even unzip it!

And my skinny trousers, which were nowhere near being able to button up last month now do up without even a muffin top.

Happy happy happy! Not fat. Just retaining water 😂

This was EXACTLY what I needed to read this morning!!! Those celebrations are all just so brilliant and exactly put into perspective the fact that weight does skip up and down for reasons that have NOTHING to do with fat!!! Mega congratulations 🥳 🎉🎉🎉🎉 And your well deserved happiness about your success and your wise perspective on those non-fat fluctuations are happily contagious.

Well congratulations to you! I totally needed to hear this also! I stepped on the scales this morning convinced I MUST’VE lost something this week only to find….I am 1.2lbs heavier than yesterday 😭😭😭 AND despite doing 11k steps, a tennis match and a 30min Pvolve class yesterday.

Going to try on some clothes later after the cleaners have gone inspired by your trying-on sesh. I think I have some Oasis bits at the back of the wardrobe 😂

Hope you find some peasants to smuggle today - seems a shame not to use the roomy skirt 🤣
