I’ve been very lucky - slightly constipated but that’s it. I’m on 7.5mg now.

CalliopePlantain · 16/12/2024 18:35

No side effects here so far. I’ve just started on a 7.5mg pen/week 9

HansHolbein · 16/12/2024 18:37

I’ve had nothing apart from 3hrs of nausea one week very early on, and two morning headaches last week. I’m on week 10 and 7.5mg.

I eat clean and drink a ton of water. Not sure if that helps 🤷‍♀️

SnacklessWonder · 16/12/2024 18:37

No side effects here but I only went as high as 5mg.

Willowy1982 · 16/12/2024 18:38

I've had no side effects and I'm now on 7.5mg. Maybe a couple of days of mild constipation but that was normal to me anyway especially if I was premenstrual. I've been very careful about what I've eaten: very low fat, low sugar, no alcohol so I don't know if that has helped or whether I just got lucky. The only way to know whether you will be affected is to try it and see.

morbidcuriosity · 16/12/2024 18:38

Been on it since August, constipated about 4 times, had to take dulculax once, and used movical a couple times..

And sometimes I get a bit burpy after food, no sulphur burps yet, just gassy..
Other than that, all good.

BlueWalker · 16/12/2024 18:39

I'm on 5mg (I'm in my 5th week) and have had no side effects. A relative started a couple of weeks after me and they had some minor nausea for 24 hours a few days into their first dose but have been fine since.

KeepinOn · 16/12/2024 18:39

Go low and slow. If a lower dose is working, stay on it. Increase dosage with caution. Often it's people who follow the month-on-month increase without taking heed to their own body reactions who struggle the most. I've been on it since July and have spent at least 2 months on each dose. I'm on 7.5 now and don't plan on increasing just yet.

morbidcuriosity · 16/12/2024 18:40

Oh sorry and to add.. bloody freezing! .
Don't know if it's less fat or the drugs, but I feel the cold now, never used too. .

emmetgirl · 16/12/2024 18:40

Me! None at all. I know 2 others who have also had no side effects

bernadetteo · 16/12/2024 18:40

Me. I'm on week 6 of 2.5 and plan to stay on it if nothing changes for the foreseeable. I eat very clean and often bland though, nothing overly spicy or greasy - i think that helps massively.

emmetgirl · 16/12/2024 18:40

Should have said I'm on 10

Swissrollover · 16/12/2024 18:41

I've been on it since July. Just tiredness, but that could be due to a health condition. I haven't rushed up the doses, so not on 10mg yet. 4 stone lost.

WeAllHaveWings · 16/12/2024 18:42

Everyone is very different. For me the first 4-6 weeks were just a backed up/mild constipation feeling as to be expected from slowing down of everything. No nausea/burps. A bit of fatigue. No headaches. I had two single days of diarrhea, I think in week 4 and 6, but that might not even have been MJ. Nothing unmanageable and I didn't have to take anything for any of the side effects.

Weeks 7 to week 24 I have been fine, felt great. Last week had some nasty constipation, but think it is because I wasn't drinking much. Been fine this week.

My biggest issue is hair loss, but again that was a problem before MJ too and I can't be sure again it is MJ, I am in menopause now and had a bad bout of covid while on MJ which really impacted my hair that week.

The positives have been worth the side effects - good weightloss, less inflammation, hot swollen ankles gone in the first 2 weeks, high blood pressure reduced.

It is really scary thinking about whether to give it a go and it took me a long time to come to my decision, but I am glad I did. As usual with these things, there will be more posts about suffering with side effects and looking for help than those saying they had none.

crumbsonmyface · 16/12/2024 18:42

I did have side effects (although have found a low dose that is now working well for me). But do you know what, it was 100% worth it. For the first time in years I feel like I could reach a healthy weight, and feeling no food noise is incredible.

CleftChin · 16/12/2024 18:43

Same as others - slight constipation if I don't drink enough (easily fixed with a bowl of branflakes :) )

I do feel sick if I eat too much - it repeats on me in a way it never used to, but nothing compared to my friend who had a gastric band a couple of years ago and still can't have a cup of tea and a muffin without finishing with a glug of gaviston.

UngratefulOldCabbage · 16/12/2024 18:43

I had side effects - sickness and diarrhoea. I got to 5mg and stopped about 3 weeks ago. However I am missing the positive side effects - not so much the weight loss but the lessened joint pain, the reduced feeling of inflammation in my body. The weight loss is just a bonus! I am going back to 2.5 mg and am aiming to stick there if possible. I have a few autoimmune issues and it really did help ease them. I can take the occasional side effect to feel better again in myself.

Snozzlemaid · 16/12/2024 18:46

I sailed through 6 months on MJ with no side effects.
Then on my third dose of 10mg I suffered 24 hours of diarrhoea. I had this for 3 weeks in a row so dropped back to 7.5 and all is well again.
The trouble is it can be random but you won't know if you don't try.

SusanDenim · 16/12/2024 22:37

No side effects particularly but unfortunately not much weight loss either. I'm on full dose now and have lost a stone since I started.

PuzzledObserver · 16/12/2024 22:46

Would those of you on it mind telling me how you have accessed it - via GP, private clinic, or all online?

I find myself surprised by how many people seem to be on it, when my medical team have never mentioned it to me. I have type 2 diabetes and was always morbidly obese, but they never suggested it for me.

I was on another GLP-1 drug, Trulicity, for diabetes control, for 5 years. It induced a modest amount of weight loss, I’m just curious why they didn’t offer me something more targeted to weight loss.

Anyhow - not worried now as I’m doing well with low carb and fasting. But still curious.

Delphigirl · 16/12/2024 22:49

I’ve gone up through to 12.5 over 6 months and I’ve had one night of feeling faintly sick, some tiredness and a bit of constipation (but nothing that required anything more than upping my fluids)

toadinthebucket · 16/12/2024 22:54

I'm on my third month, on 5mg again. I've had some slight nausea, some constipation (started eating bran flakes and it's gone) and i have been freezing. I've lost 2 stone so far and overalll i feel fantastic.

I know you wanted to know about people who hadn't had side effects, and I have, so wanted to reassure you that they've been really minor. Feeling a little sick occassionally is well worth it considering i'm no longer out of breath and my knees don't hurt... and i still have several
stone to go!

Heard loads about the burps. I used to burp a lot but since starting Mounjaro, i rarely burp at all.

ssd · 16/12/2024 22:54

This all sounds really positive

magicalmrmistoffelees · 16/12/2024 22:55

I had some nausea and diarrhoea but I wouldn’t call them ‘bad’ side effects… the 3.5 stone weight loss more than made up for it, anyway.

Online from a private pharmacy like most people, I expect.
