Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@MelissaLouRocks so pleased you are out and doing so well

@ObsidianTree we are thread twins - I'm also 12 stone 2, my BMI is 25.2 so I'm getting there. Weight loss stalling a little even though I'm eating very little and the right stuff Confused
My size 16 jeans are now loose and I don't have any in smaller sizes because it's so long since I've been close to a 14. My wardrobe is that typical one with sizes 16-22 in it. I need to have a good sort out and not just think I'll keep the bigger sizes "just in case" as that's defeatist talk.
Taking my bonus dose of 12.5 today then it's on to 15. Time to order another one and take the risk with the short expiry dates I guess.

There are some amazing weight losses here, well done!

FlappyFish · 07/09/2024 11:57

I’m in two minds about maintenance. I can show the prescription history, but I’ve not bought a pen in three months now I think. I worry that maintenance will become a crutch for me. That I need to have a jab to do this.

Maybe I do? I just don’t know. I’ve kind of forgotten what non-MJ life is.

I am eating a lot more coming off, but my weight is staying the same. But equally I wasn’t eating lots before.

I guess the option is there. As a recovering alcoholic I know I need to be careful. Heck, I’m ex bulimic too lol. I know how my head works with things like this.

I am bordering what I feel is too slim. I need tone. That won’t come from loss, but exercise. Which is fine. :)

Me these days. Wearing all black and black suede knee highs just because I can. 😅 I only did it for an up to date photo. I’m 9.9 now and 5’7.

Well done everyone on your loses!

I’ve got an appointment with Oushk on Monday. I’ve been maintaining on 10mg, I think I’m going to do 3 months on 7.5mg and then come off it and pay the £20 a month, but will see what they say. Especially a I overeat over Christmas!

Wonkypictureframe · 07/09/2024 12:03

I’m just under 10 stone, BMI 24.1, and would like to lose a little more. I’ve gone down a dose to 7.5mg and have some appetite for the first time in ages. I’m trying to welcome it and not panic, and when I eat, I’m definitely still not ‘normal’ in my intake. I’m torn between wanting to go back up to 10mg to lose the last few pounds for sure and thinking I should stay here and start to work out my new normal.

I’m now size 10-14 depending on garment and brand, and would be really happy to stay here. So happy.

Let us know how you get on with your consultation!
Funny you should mention Christmas - I was just thinking this morning how, whatever happens, I need to be on flab jabs through the winter as I can't imagine sustaining the motivation to get through til next Spring otherwise - I get so low when it's cold and dark, and alcohol and stodgy food have always been my crutch.

Moanranger · 07/09/2024 14:20

Well done to all on losses & NSVs & hopeflouncy finds a solution.
Not much to report here ATM. I am completely stuck at 73.3 kg, very frustrating! And I never get whooshes, just v slow downward drift, eventually. I am mainly watching to see how all you lucky ones nearing or at goal handle maintenance- there will probably be different strategies.
I am sticking with 5mg as suppression is good. I really don’t want to be eating so little that I starve myself in order to meet goal weight. I also get bouts of severe fatigue on MJ which would probably get worse on higher doses. I will, however, go up if suppression falls off. Today I feel ok, yesterday I was wiped out! (Injected Thurs)
Also, oh, to be tall! I would need to lose over a stone to get to below 25 BMI, so I am trying to completely ignore that.
Finally my needles arrived from Health Express after several chasing emails. They sent 2 boxes, though, so now I am well supplied😊

I haven’t posted for ages, I took a reaction to the jag after accidentally taking too much of out of date stuff.

i haven’t re ordered, I’m wary of having the vomiting back. It’s probably not rational, but I still haven’t got my appetite back properly so thought I’d wait for that. Perhaps my stomach has shrunk?

instead of buying the drug I have been spending money on going swimming. I need to tone up anyway and swimming is exercise that I actually enjoy.

I think I’ll give this a month and review. It’s possible what being 3 stones down means my body and mind are just working more efficiently so I’m less inclined to binge.

Im a comfortable 16 and bought a size 14 dress for a new year party. so, that’s motivating.

confrats to all the losers. I especially enjoy your NSV stories.

BatFaceGrrrll · 07/09/2024 15:55

May I ask a stupid question? The oushk packages ... what do you get for the £20 a month? Is it just the option to reorder a pen should you feel the need to?

I'm almost 5 stone down now and considering maintenance. I started out at nearly 15 stone and am now low 10s - I'd like to be 9 stone 10 ish. Something like that.

Although need to start adjusting my thought processes as I still feel I look a bit chunky when really, I'm probably just fine

Well done to all the losers! Looking brilliant

The £20 is pretty much just a guarantee you can go back on it with a lower than 30 bmi. Personally I’m happy to pay that, as if my weight goes above say 7lb of my target weight I want the option to go back on and as far as I’m aware, no other provider has said they will let you yet.

KrankyKumquat · 07/09/2024 16:45

@BatFaceGrrrll Well done, you look fab!
You get lifestyle coaching and on-going support with maintaining weight loss, including monitoring weight, diet, exercise, symptoms if you have other health conditions that MJ was helping with. I don't know what that would look like in reality, monthly consultations have been mentioned, but I'm guessing you'd be able to contact if you needed to, as a patient of theirs, more often as this is very much how they work now, they're very responsive to any questions. I know some people don't think it'll be a problem to get re-prescribed by any pharmacy if you need to if your bmi is, say, 21 but that's not a risk I personally want to take at least for the first 3-6 months when/if decide to go this route (although I'm intending on staying low dose for the forseeable..) According to the prescriber at Oushk, you would need to be a patient of theirs, being actively managed by them, to get re-prescribed at such a low bmi - I guess the cost enables them to cover themselves if this was questioned. However, they're the first to come up with concrete plans like this including the re-prescribing scenario so others may follow with something similar and maybe at no cost. Don't know...

KeepingUndercover · 07/09/2024 17:45

I'm quite grateful to be a good 4 stone away from goal so I can see how it works for all of you before I get there!

NCfor24 · 07/09/2024 18:30

I'm with MedExpress (mostly!) and thoughts are turning to maintenance though I'm still probably 20lbs or so away from goal. MedExpress say they support it and will continue to prescribe, but I feel like the £20 a month plan from Oushk is a good back up for going it alone but having access to Mounjaro at a healthy BMI should it be needed. I'd love to think I will manage without one day yet at the same time right now I can't imagine it and the other benefits I'm feeling mean I think I want to be on a low dose forever anyway. Since Oushk do the consultations for people moving over at maintenance weights I'm happy to titrate down with MedExpress when the time comes and see what happens. I'll have evidence of my prescription in my online accounts and from the GP letters anyway, as well as my weight loss journey graph on my tracking app so I feel confident about moving later on if I need to.

After a minimal gain on holiday I've been back a week and lost the gain plus some extra. I definitely think there is a whoosh when getting back on it after a week of slightly higher calories!

KrankyKumquat · 07/09/2024 09:05

@ObsidianTree
Morning Obsidian. Just a little update - there was another FB live with Hira last night (you can access the recording on their FB page). Plans are live and once again, she was very open to discussing sub25 bmi on a case by case basis. Website has been updated with full details of plans and examples of how it could work. Some good news I hadn't realised - the cost of the initial consultation will be deducted from cost of first pen (guessing they're charging to cover cost of 'no shows'). Prices 15% below normal price plus no postage. Longer dated 12.5 and 15mg pens expected Monday and all current Oct dated pens have now been withdrawn as they don't have 6 weeks left on them.

Thanks for the info.

How much is the consultation?

Snap! Maybe try and eat a bit more? See if that gets the weight moving? Although, being so close to goal, might be slower now anyway.

I hear you with the clothes sizing! I took a pair of cropped trousers for my recent holiday and they were falling off me. I don't know why I packed them as they are a size 20. For some reason I thought they would be fine even though I am a size 14 now! I am starting to buy a few bits of smaller clothes now. Going to feel weird when I do a proper clear out of my clothes!

You're looking good 😊

I think it sounds like you should be ok going it alone so it's worth a try.

I think there are good options out there now to go back on if you start regaining. So maybe give it some time trying to be off of MJ and see how you get on.

@Seriestwo sorry you had a bad reaction. How much over 30 days were you on the pen?

@BatFaceGrrrll looking good 😊

OP posts:
Choux · 07/09/2024 20:02

@Seriestwo how much did you take as you said you took 'too much'? Did you increase the dose because you thought it wouldn't be as strong as it was out of date?

Hope you feel better now? Do you think you will restart on a low dose again?

NextPrimeMinister · 08/09/2024 10:11

Hi everyone, I've been away on hols but back now, and only 1lb gain. I've pretty much stayed at 10.7 for 4 weeks now, and have 3 doses left in a 10mg pen. Am toying with the idea of moving to 12mg now as even with holidays or work trips away I expected to still lose? Or am I being unrealistic?

My BMI is 26, so not like I have reached my ideal weight. I'm still a size 14.

Choux · 08/09/2024 10:21

@NextPrimeMinister I came back from my summer holiday 7lbs heavier than when I left. I ate more carbs, sugar and drank more wine than I do on my high protein, low carb Mounjaro diet. But I lost it within 10 days of getting back to my usual Mounjaro food.

How much did you gain last time you went on holiday before you started Mounjaro? I bet it was more than a pound. So Mounjaro helped you be more restrained.

Have you done 4 weeks on 10mg or is that your first 10mg pen? If it's your first 10mg pen I wouldn't go up to 12.5mg just yet. Get back to eating well and you might see a whoosh.

Choux · 08/09/2024 10:22

Another thing is that at a BMI of only 26 you don't lose as quickly as when your BMI is 30 plus.

BlackFriYay · 08/09/2024 10:54

Brilliant news about your surgery Melissa, i bet you're over the moon! ☺️

I think I'm experiencing the 'new set point' I've heard about. I've stayed between 9.2st and 9.3st for weeks now which coincidentally was my goal weight, so I'm happy with that.

I began titrating down as of yesterday, took about 8mg from the 'bonus dose' of my 10mg pen.

We go on holiday tomorrow so I expect I might put on a few lbs over the duration but it'll soon come off again I'm sure.

AgathaMystery · 08/09/2024 10:55

Girls girls girls.

BMI is 29.9 today. I am overweight. I can’t believe it!!!

Wonkypictureframe · 08/09/2024 11:05

Woo! Amazing!

I’m a week into 7.5mg and have put on a pound. I have about two days to reorder before my six weeks runs out and really torn about going back up to 10mg to feel more confident of losing the last 7lbs, or just learning to eat more.
