Starting Mounjaro 21st July 2024

Hi all,

I previously had gastric bypass surgery in 2020 and lost 15st. I did the surgery so I could get pregnant, and in 2023 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. With the pregnancy I gained 7st 😵

So now, I'm looking to apply everything I learned with my surgery (high protein, low carb, chew for 1 min etc) to Mounjaro and hopefully lose this weight again.

Anyone with me?

Height is 5'6
Weight 20st 4lb

Goal 1: 15st
Goal 2: 12st

12st was the lowest I got down to before I became pregnant and that suited my body and my frame. I'm not sure I'll get down that low again, but I hope I will!

Hi all. I did my first job in Saturday evening.

Didn't have a great day food wise on Sunday as was out for tea with family. Stomach felt a bit crampy and a bit solid.

Better food wise today. I feel mildly hungry but am resisting. Maybe I am one of those that will take a while for the appetite suppression to kick in?

Tummy a bit achy today otherwise all good.

My pen has now been delivered and is sitting in the fridge, waiting for me to build up the courage to use it!

I think I'm going to go for it tomorrow evening, as Wednesday seems like it'd be a good day for me. I WFH, so any initial stomach upsets will hopefully not cause many issues and be over for the weekend. Meanwhile, any appetite suppression will hopefully still be there for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when temptations are everywhere. 🤞

First full day after injection yesterday at 8am, no appetite suppression and no side effects apart from needing to pee alot yesterday but that might just have been me increasing my water consumption.
I could still easily eat the same as I normally do. Hopefully things improve as the week goes on but I'm only 50% hopeful.

I’m hoping that those us with less suppression now are just living up to the ‘2.5mg isn’t a therapeutic dose’ spiel, though it’s hard when you see other people having big changes straight away.

I think I’m feeling fuller sooner, though I don’t think I’ve actually gone and listened to that and stopped eating 🤦🏻‍♀️ no more metal mouth today so pleased with that

Mounjaro looks to have the least side effects. How are you all feeling?

Are you planing on taking on holiday?

Small well balanced meal last night and a glass of wine.
Oh boy- won't be doing that again.
After several hours of stomach churning have surrendered

@GlitteringUnicorn hope you are feeling better now, sounds hideous.
I woke up in the night feeling quite sick too but managed to not be. It's a feeling I've had before when I've overindulged too close to bedtime but this time I'd only had a cup of tea and a protein bar.

I’ve got 4 weeks and then on holiday, so will
it be ok to miss a week and carry on when I get back do you think? I can’t take it with me as have no where to store it.
And also, how long does it last in the fridge as not sure when to order my second batch?

Well, I got impatient yesterday evening so started my pen then instead of waiting until today. 😅 I'd watched a video beforehand on how to do it, but TBH the paper instructions included were also very clear. I injected into my stomach, and I couldn't even feel the needle - but I don't tend to have any issues with needles.

I feel no different today, still hungry, and gained 0.5kg overnight. 😑 So no immediate changes! I shall have to be more patient and give it time to work.

The documentations say the pen can be kept at room temperature once it's started, but I feel I'd rather keep it chilled where possible. I'm travelling around quite a bit over the summer to various places for leisure and work, so I've ordered myself a little insulin cooler travel case, which has gel packs I can freeze to use when transporting the pen. Once I get to my destinations, I'll either have access to a fridge or I can take my own tiny mini fridge with me.

You can keep it out of the fridge once opened although with your 4 weeks it might be when you’re starting your second pen so wouldn’t work out anyway? I’m not sure on missing a week but I imagine it would just mean maybe you feel the side effects a little more when you restart.

I think I’ll order my next pen when I do the last dose #4 so it has the week to process and ship, I’m injecting on Sundays.

Just jab the bugger! 😄 I honestly couldn't feel the needle at all when I did mine, it's such a tiny little thing. It genuinely didn't hurt at all. I just grabbed a pinch of the squidgy bit of my stomach and went for it.

I’m be just done my jab today, first time. Just had slice of bread as forgot to eat first was going to do it after dinner but got carried away & just did it. Feeling fine so far. Been eating very cleanly & low ish carb not no carb for a few days. Fingers crossed it works!

I was also apprehensive but I didn't feel a thing. To the extent I keep wondering if I actually injected myself with anything 😂😂

Feh. I ate less than usual yesterday, all healthy things, and still somehow managed to gain 0.2kg overnight. I know I need to be more patient, I only started 36 hours ago, but I want to see some positive results so I know this isn't just another expensive failure. 🥹

I'm in a similar position to you, currently 73kg and want to get to around 55kg, I'm also petite and struggle to lose weight on a very low calorie diet.

I had my first 2.5 shot on Tuesday, no side effects yet other than a headache, but this could be sugar withdrawal, I'm going to use Friday as my official weigh in day although I do find it hard not to weigh everyday.

Morning everyone, my first pen arrived yesterday and I took it at about 4:30pm in my stomach. Didn't feel it go in and didn't feel any side effects last night. I ate a healthy meal of fish, vegetables and a couple of new potatoes- managed to eat it all. I definitely had my usual food noise while watching TV, but I ignored it and stuck to water.
This morning I've had a smoothie made with fruit, chia seeds and protein yogurt, it took me a while to drink it, but I wasn't "full"
I've noticed my heart was beating faster than normal- 110bpm and I have a slight headache/ neck pain.
So far so good 🙂

I have lost 2kgs since Sunday
Not good really and am still struggling to eat- have managed 2 hard boiled eggs today.

I took my first dose on Wednesday night and everything was going smoothly until last night (about 24hrs later). I thought I'd got away with no side effects. But now have bad cramps, and let's just say I don't want to find myself far from a loo any time soon!
I also feel quite sick, have zero appetite but not in a healthy way.
Have also had a headache, but not too bad and not for long. Got the weird taste thing too.
Hope it'll all ease off soon. Feels like this is powerful stuff if this is all happening from the smallest dose.
Hope everyone else doing ok. I'm trusting things will settle down soon!!

Ok - so one week in today - and 7 pounds down! I can’t quite believe that - one thing I would say is I am managing to resist all snacks between meals - which is massive for me. Also - I have been religiously drinking 2litres of water a day - which is loads more than I drink normally- just took 2nd 2.5 dose - it’s feeling ok.

Just ordered first pen 🫶🤞

not much suppression for me this week, but disappointing but I’m holding out to see what 5mg will do before i decide if I keep going or not. Hopefully I’ll see an effect then.

Second dose of 2.5 just now and I didn’t bleed at all and now I’ve convinced myself it didn’t go in 😩 not that there’s any liquid on my skin or anything but the one last week bled. Anyone else had a phantom injection site??
