It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

Well, week 1 finished and I'm down from 83kg to 79kg and am very, very pleased. I suspect at least 2kg of that is pure water weight as I've been drinking like a camel and peeing every 5 minutes it seems. The hot weather doesn't help either!

Took the second jab this morning. I'm finding it just incredibly easy to turn down seconds, have smaller portions, and not feel in the least tempted to have crisps etc. Not sure how much of that is placebo but I've never felt this way before. Also feeling full really quickly and on much smaller portions than before. I batch cooked and ate the same lunch 3 days in a row and didn't get bored!!

I've decided to treat it like liquid willpower. It's not going to make me lose weight on its own but it will give me the willpower to make long-term habit changes and say no when someone puts a bowl of crisps out!

Hi - so I am due 3rd injection on Friday. Started with Voy but just signed up to Zava instead. I don't need the Voy support and extra money - my weight went on with anti depressants and won't come of because of Peri...And I have tried !! So far 12 days in and 9 pounds down. Not even vaguely hungry - have to force myself to eat but my God the thirst !!! I'm praying this stops because I just had to give up on a run because it was that bad..

It's like food becomes just fuel i think. I eat because I need food but I'm not having big portions (and seconds) or any junk food or snacks. This morning I had 25g of nuts for breakfast and was more than happy with that. Is this how naturally skinny people feel I wonder?

I've heard lots of people get super dry mouth. Hopefully it'll adjust as time goes on.

I think it must be- aren’t they lucky?!
we had loads of cakes at work today for a birthday. Usually they would have been calling to me all day, and distracting me. But when offered, I took two mini millionaires shortbread (2cm cubed) enjoyed them and moved on with my day. Weird! And great!

I’m a dry mouth person! It seems to be one of the only side effects I’ve had so far tho - no gastric issues at all, just a bit sleepier than usual after injection and maybe some slightly odd dreams.

2 weeks and 9lbs down (according to my shitty manual scales).
I started right on the cusp of overweight/obese (BMI 29.9!) so presumably am now locked in with the same provider? Hoping to get to BMI 23.5 to give me a little adjustment room while figuring out maintenance.

I also find myself wondering if this is how people who‘ve spent their whole lives in the healthy weight range think & feel about food!

disclaimer: I had a fairly significant jaw surgery the week before I started Mounjaro - figured that doing it around the same time would give me some plausible deniability re: any losses and MJ has definitely made not being able to eat hard/crunchy things (toast! crisps! baguettes!) more tolerable. If weight loss continues to be successful I intend to be open with people who will likely benefit from the info/are considering it themselves but don’t want to admit to spending the money if it turns out to be a waste 😆

ToriMJ · 31/07/2024 19:39

Yes me too, too early to tell about my incase it's another failed attempt and I'm back with my tail between my legs.

Week 2 day 5 here - much less side effects this week which is a relief, but also much less suppression. Struggled today with feeling hungry ☹️ and wanting to snack! Gave in to a few extras but I think still kept calories to around 1200. Hope to have a better day tomorrow. I think maybe not enough protein today so I wasn't satisfied by lunch.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 01/08/2024 07:52

I ate two crisps and a slice of cake yesterday and had the fear of putting on 4kgs in response to that. Has anyone else got to the point they feel like they'll never be able to eat anything other than salad and protein without gaining everything #overlydramaticbutactuallyIthinkthis

I'm exactly the same!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 01/08/2024 08:14

Yes!

I only lost another 0.1 kilo yesterday but we did have a left over veg curry and naan bread that we froze ages ago

I've decided to make sure I get 1200 Cals a day and loose a bit more slowly as I'm afraid once I'm off I will put weight on again

Im prob going to only increase Cals by 200 a day once off and try and find my limit

I have always been good at fasting tho so I'll do that a few times a week or after xmas etc.

I think the first two weeks were a honeymoon period and goes to show all the haters of inj that we still have to work really hard at loosing.

Yes! But I ate a few snacks yesterday and have lost another kg this morning, so keep ploughing on!

I’m on holiday and didn’t bring my second dose with me. Having had a no symptom start after my first jab, the nausea hit hard on day 3 and 4. We left for our holiday on day 5 and I couldn’t face feeling sick all holiday so chose not to bring it. I’m now on day 10 and eating pretty well. The nausea stopped on day 6, started feeling more hungry on day 8 but not in the way I’m usually hungry. Calorie in take first few days of my holiday were under 1200, last couple of days it’s been about 1600-1800. I’m a self confessed chocoholic and don’t have any real cravings for it despite not having my second jab yet. Home on Saturday, which will be 12 days since my first jab and will have my second jab then. So for anyone wanting to do the same, don’t be scared of the cravings and food noise returning instantly. Hoping it stays that way until Saturday fingers crossed.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 01/08/2024 15:32

I've stalled so definitely moving up to 5mg. Hopefully won't get too bad side effects.

MzHz · 01/08/2024 16:10

The 2.5 is an intro dose and not really for actual treatment, the medicinal doses are after 2.5mg

im going to go for it too. Next payment happens on 5th and then it gets shipped

im down 4.5kg in total, week 3.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 01/08/2024 17:32

I've already bought the 5mg but am also clear I will not go up any further.

walttynutcade · 01/08/2024 17:35

I am in my 3rd week and have lost 6lbs which I am very happy with taking into account a very busy time socialising and no side effects, I am debating whether to have another month on 2.5 or go up to 5, I do realise the low dose is only your body getting used to it but something is working

ToriMJ · 01/08/2024 20:17

I'm week three, jab on Tuesday lunchtime so day three. Definitely not feeling as much suppression as the first two jabs, either I'm getting used to it or the but I shot across the room Made a difference. Am certainly not eating tons though, am still averaging about 900 cals a day comfortably but I'm
Getting hungry for my meals rather than pushing them in because I need to.
There's a bar of choc in the fridge and pre mj that would have been gone as I'd have popped back and back again for a chunk but it's just not crossed my mind. No symptoms so far this week either which is wonderful. I've gone super low fat which I think helps.
I have another 2.5 in the fridge for weeks 4-8 then will re evaluate. If at end of week 4 I need to I may go up to 3.75 by counting clicks.

Oooh also
My Voy coach got in touch this week for some WhatsApp counselling. We talked about my Motivation and goals and next week we will Be talking about nutrition.
She sent me a voice note so I can see she's real and not a bot. I liked that with Voy you can choose your coach based on their credentials and info which was nice,
https://www.joinvoy.com/team# here's all the coaches you can choose from. Daffodil

That's my discount Code if anyone is looking for one, although I know we are awash with codes now Grin

I'm really impressed you started before holiday, that's a really bold thing to do. It's so easy to put it off until after x y z but there's always something coming up. Hopefully you've enjoyed your lovely holiday food but in a more controlled way, which I think is probably the goal for us all.

I read a thread in Actives with a few posters fat shaming and insistent that we all overeat. Today I had 2 spoons of protein yoghurt with a tablespoon of flax seed and strawberries and grapes. Lunch was a sour dough (home made roll) with lettuce and tomato, no butter or anything else. Dinner was green salad plus tomatoes, 4 cubes of feta, some dressing, a spoonful of pasta with pesto and a small fillet of mackerel. Generally I wouldn't have the sourdough roll. Otherwise this is fairly typical meal plan. So the posters describing us losers as cheating can f off and then f off some more.

Scales tonight show me losing 0.2kg since Monday. Yeah great cheating. Sooooo easy

ToriMJ · 01/08/2024 22:02

If you've not been overweight you just don't get it. People can mind their own judgey business.

An ex smoker of many years ago it's very similar to how I felt when I craved nicotine. An almost unsettled feeling, like you're not quite 'satisfied' or comfortable or relaxed, just thinking a little bit of cheese or crisps or something will fill that gap. It's definitely an addiction.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 02/08/2024 07:34

I do not wish to be on MJ for life ( I can not afford for one thing), but aside from that, I feel my body should be able to process food as it used to. Until pregnancy and menopause I ate as I liked. Later on, bereavement made me overeat, but prior to that, something had changed anyway... I could no longer eat as I wanted.

The result was a need to comfort eat because of bereavement made worse by the knowledge (belief ...call it what you like) that depriving myself was pointless because I put on anyway. Knowing I shouldn't made the need greater. I became a binge eater when I had the opportunity

On MJ, binging has gone. I eat healthily, but it's certainly not the wonder drug for weight loss. I'm having a restricted diet some days and a VLCD others and not losing as I might expect for that. Still glad I've taken action because at least I'm losing.

gimmemounjaro · 02/08/2024 08:05

Yes, MJ has not been a miracle cure for me either - although I am still on 2.5mg, so that's fair enough. I actually put on 0.8lbs this week for no discernible reason so overall I'm losing more slowly than I have before without the drug, 5lbs in 3 weeks and I have 6 stone to lose. But I'm taking 3.75mg on Monday and then up to 5mg after that so will see what happens. I felt some suppression in the first week or two but not recently. It may not be right for me as I think my overeating is not related to hunger, it's more complicated. MJ has not stopped me thinking about food, eating more than I need, or eating when I'm not particularly hungry.

I do overeat though, always have and that’s why I’m overweight. I just love food.

Since my late teens I’ve dieted, lost weight, then gradually put it back on because I eat too much. I used to be great at losing weight in a calorie deficit, but every year older I get, the harder it gets. My body seems to want to ‘settle’ at a weight I feel fat at. When I was in my 20s that weight was around 10st 10 (oh to be “fat” like that now! That is now my goal weight), and now I’m pushing 50 it seems to want to be 13 stone, which definitely doesn’t look good on me!

How many of our ‘naturally skinny’ friends actually are? Probably not that many. I have a friend who has always looked amazing, and she gets so annoyed when people tell her how lucky she is. She’s not lucky, she works bloody hard, consistently. If her weight creeps up a couple of pounds she works even harder to get it back off. She’s at the same miserable level of body/food obsession that I am, it’s just that she looks fantastic and I look like the honey monster. Hopefully MJ will give me the same level of discipline that she managed to have.
