It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

I'm going teetotal as it's easier than having alcohol open (yelling FINISH ME)

I've justveaten lettuce that tasted horrid. It took me a whole fajita to realise the lettuce wasn't just strong tasting but was vile and bitter. I think I may have off lettuce consequences worse than any side effects from MJ 🫤

Wishthiswasntmypost · 23/07/2024 22:06

So I've definitely put on weight despite exercise and minimal food. I'm devastated because this is my experience of diets....lose weight. Plateau. Its so hard to lose and just piles on. I'm having 3 healthy meals. Fruit and protein yoghurt breakfast. Either hummus and veg or ham salad pitta for lunch. Dinner is salad and fish/chicken/mushroom. Reasonable small portions. No alcohol. No snacks. What else can I do?

I will persevere but am really ☹️

One week down, the day I started I had visitors arrive to stay , all week additional visitors every evening plus big weekend event 😳 diet has not been good however shocked that I have lost 2lb rather than have gained , not felt hungry or any side effects, but have eaten rubbish from tomorrow I am going back to sensible eating

I read visitors as code for period 😂 glad u had a loss well done you'll double that next week if stick to being good

Second pen sticking to 2.5mg Ordered and through same provider

Those of you that move provider. If you have lost some weight so no longer in obese category do they still accept you?

Good question actually never thought of this

ToriMJ · 23/07/2024 22:32

There's a maintenance thread. There's different rules for different suppliers about how low a bmi they will accept. Some offer maintenance for a couple of years I think.

@MyPearlMentor - thank you.

Symptoms of diarrhoea have improved today with cutting out caffeine and definitely no cheese. I've not eaten much but it's been very bland. Tuna and crackers and a tomato!

There are small help sections on Voy about side effects and you can also WhatsApp a dietitian or arrange a call back from a 'clinician' which is helpful.

Yeah Juniper has a chat function which is a real help and there are medical people you can call on too if needed

I know they’re a bit expensive but I do really value the support

it’s clear I know nothing about nutrition

Wishthiswasntmypost · 24/07/2024 07:27

Tori not calorie counting each day no. I did one day and was on 880. Decided to increase to 1000. Haven't counted since but will have a go today. I find it really hard. Log a spoonful of yoghurt (look up brand), count grapes, count strawbs, spoonful flaxseed, coffee with milk....and so on. Time is an issue.

I appear to have static bowels which might not be helping. I think the day I was really busy I didn't drink enough

slummymummy35 · 24/07/2024 08:35

Morning losers 😘 second jab day for me today, I've lost 7lbs in week one, yay! Going to do my injection mid morning. Hope everyone is having a great day x

I'd suggest trying nutracheck, the app is free for seven days and everything is exceptionally easy to log. You can bar code scan anything that comes packaged and basic foods are really easy to find.
Do that for a couple of days and it'll give you an idea of cals and protein which might help with figuring out how to get a loss. The other thing you could look at is a TDEE calculator which will tell you what calories you burn in a day at rest/exercise. I think you have to drop 3,500 calories to lose 1lb.

MyPearlMentor · 24/07/2024 08:47

@Wishthiswasntmypost is it possible you aren’t eating enough? If you were on a very low cal diet before MJ then maybe you need to eat a bit more for a few days to boost your metabolism. I used to do Exante and every couple of weeks I’d have two days of more calories which seemed counter-intuitive but seemed to lead to more loss the next week.

I use HitMeal, the premium version is like £14 a year.

i log everything, you use a bar code scanner and 90% of the time its as straightforward as that. You log the water too. Which helps.

it measures any activity you do and can deduct that from your calorie total.

my son lost a decent amount of teen weight and got himself lean mean fighting machine for boxing and he counted everything

it keeps you honest and you learn the value of things. It also helps you ‘budget’ your intake.

I am down to <drumroll> 100g shy of my first 3kg milestone. So almost 3kg since a week on Monday

the day post the jab IS harder, I feel really iffy in places, but we shall plan for this.

i have a lot of business travel coming up in sept, i may have to juggle the days i inject OR make sure i take snacks, drink water and take things slowly

ChaChaChooey · 24/07/2024 09:11

1st week over.

I only have shitty manual scales so perhaps I am being optimistic but I appear to have lost 6lbs?

My life long obsession with crappy carbs (crisps, chips, white bread & pasta, cake) seems to have vanished overnight the day after I did my first injection. Fingers crossed my disinterest continues this week 🤞

HotCrossBunplease · 24/07/2024 09:23

Woke up starving for breakfast as usual today, appetite not remotely suppressed! Oh well, only day 2, will be patient and stick to old-style willpower-based healthy eating.

Aitchtee · 24/07/2024 10:04

4lb loss for me- little bit surprised as found it hard to eat much all week. But period overdue so maybe that is why it wasn’t more. Think I expected (and hoped) for more based on all the big losses I read about!

remember month 1 is a dose designed to introduce MJ to our system. it may not be that until you get to the therapeutic dose that the suppression will sink in. My pen dose is due to increase to 5mg next month so I am hoping that the side effect will continue to lessen so that by the time i go up to 5mg the Day 2 I'm not quite so iffy

From my past experience at WW (I used to be a helper 15 plus years ago) the losses usually even out over the first weeks, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I lose 1lb next week and you lose 3lb, making us both equal at a total 7lbs in a fortnight.

gimmemounjaro · 24/07/2024 11:57

@ToriMJ good luck with the camping! I am just back from a few days camping with a bunch of family and have put on a pound 😱
Not surprising really, fish and chips were involved and a takeaway curry and beer and chocolate and endless crisps and snacks.
On the plus side I was expecting to gain more than a pound. Also there were no extra side effects which I was expecting with such a poor diet. But MJ definitely did nothing to calm down my appetite for crap when surrounded by others going for it!
Had a lovely time though, so definitely worth it and back on the MJ wagon today. Official weigh day is Saturday so I do have a chance to lose that extra pound 🤞

I had zero appetite suppression from 2.5mg. So I sacked it off after week three and went on to 5mg. 5mg has been working very well. So you might experience the same.

I def don't think it's working for you at this dose! I can't eat hardly anything!

Sounds like a great time though!

I did my 2nd dose last night (12 hours early). Went for the thigh rather than belly as someone mentioned the side effects aren't so bad. The seems to be the case, some mild nausea but that's all.

I'm feeling a little hungry but nothing terrible. Had toast for breakfast and a falafel wrap for lunch. Probably steak and salad this evening.

I've only lost 2lbs in my first week though so I'm a bit disappointed. Do you think it would be a bad idea to do the remaining doses in one (so 5mg on week 3) if this week is still slow?
