Not lost anything on Mounjaro - anyone else?

2 weeks in on 2.5mg, worked amazingly well for suppression (I have to make myself eat!) and consequently have eaten much less/more healthy things than previously...the scales aren't moving though! Anyone else?
Was expecting a big loss week 1, even if it was just water loss, and am a bit gutted to be honest...

How's everyone getting on? On my 3rd week and have lost.....1lb 🙄

OneThreadOnly · 10/06/2024 13:55

If you are definitely in a deficit, could it be to do with your monthly cycle, I gain up-to 5lbs of hormone bloat the week before I am due on, if that happened on a week I had lost 5lbs of fat it would hide it completely.

Give it a few mire weeks and disregard the starvation mode stuff, that is outdated disproven nonsense, think about it logically.

Rainbow1901 · 10/06/2024 14:02

I think with any diet you need to fool the body into thinking you are not starving it!! Otherwise it hangs on to everything you eat in the belief that you are potentially starving it!
So eat little and often - keeps the hunger pangs at bay (if you have them) - although I have friends who advocate the 'eat less and move more' is the way to go for weight loss.

Whatsyourstory · 10/06/2024 14:53

Thank you ladies. I've just finished my period and definitely notice I'm more bloated around the lead up and during.

I also think the dose may be too low to make a noticeable difference, as I'm still on 2.5ml, I'm looking forward to stepping up the dose!

I store my pen in the fridge also, do I need to?

Choux · 10/06/2024 16:54

Some people need to get to higher doses to lose weight. This is from the MedExpress website and says the starting dose is to get your body used to the drug. Some people lose lots on 2.5mg, some lose a bit and some lose very little. Keep doing all the right things and move up to 5mg and see what happens.

That's super helpful thank you!

That's great! Well done! Mine too have gone down, 5lbs. In 3 weeks, seems pretty slow but better than nothing!

Great! What are you attributing the whoosh to? Poop, menstrual cycle, less salty food, fewer carbs or all of the above?

No idea tbh...don't have to worry about menstrual cycle any more so definitely not that!
Have been trying to eat a bit more - protein yogurts and rice cakes mainly.

Better than nothing indeed. I've never been able to lose weight - my body seems to fight it all the time - even wisdom teeth extraction and 2 weeks eating yoghurt and orange juice didn't lose me an ounce!
Hope it continues for both of us.

Given that this medication is designed to manage insulin response eating little and often is the last thing you should do. The body doesn't need 'fooling' and having longer periods between eating is fine, in fact it's good for you.

Golightly133 · 28/06/2024 13:37

I have just taken my first .75 dose haven’t lost anything in the last 4 weeks on .5 lost a stone and 4lb in the first weeks so disappointed, food intake is really low no more than 1000 a day no junk food no alcohol exercising it’s just not moving. Going to give it these next 4 weeks and give up if I don’t lose anything 200 is too expensive to not lose any weight. I do seem to be losing inches but to be honest i wanted to lose weight - Really despondent with it all. I have my fitness pal and really do monitor all my food, spoke to Phlo clinic where I get mine from and they said I must be over estimating my calories, so was even more stringent with it all.

ApoodlecalledPenny · 28/06/2024 13:59

Hang on in there. Sometimes the scales don’t move for a few weeks. My worst plateau was nearly 5 weeks, and it was so hard to hold on, but eventually the woosh did come and I lost a few kilos over a couple of weeks.

It’s not linear. I don’t know why, because it feels like it should be! But in my experience it has been fits and starts.

Ive lost 30kg (from a high of 110kg in Nov 23). Still another 15-20 to go! Currently in a losing phase but I really feel I’ve finally learned to accept the plateaus when they come. If you’re consistent the weight will come off.

At this stage I’m happy for it to be slow and steady as it gives my skin the best chance of staying firm(ish!). This amount of weight loss in a year is hard on the skin.

Good luck! 🍀

CormorantStrikesBack · 28/06/2024 14:22

I don’t even get appetite suppression and I’m on 5mg. Up to 7.5mg tomorrow.

This is SO me! I am considering starting but really not convinced it will work for me!

sshk · 08/11/2024 06:23

@hopelessbusiness May I ask how your weight loss has continued now 4 months on? Stuck where you were 4 months ago…..

Sycamoretree4 · 08/11/2024 06:31

First week 2.5mg lost 2lbs.

I am focusing more on the psychological benefits MJ is giving me.

I have to accept it is going to be slow and steady not the miracle I thought it was going to be.

This thread was reassuring of that fact.

Hope @hopelessbusiness your MJ journey is progressing.

hopelessbusiness · 08/11/2024 09:15

Hello @sshk and @Sycamoretree4 !
Things did indeed progress, 4 months down the line I'm 3 stone lighter and feeling fantastic! There's no way on earth I'd have managed it without MJ.
One more stone to go...

@hopelessbusiness Thank you so much for replying and congratulations!

Slow and steady best, I’m making much better food choices and moving up to 5mg today - was feeling a bit meh and your message has helped!

hopelessbusiness · 08/11/2024 09:56

@sshk I'm glad to have helped! I don't think anyone's weight loss is linear, I didn't seem to be losing and then all of a sudden, I was. No big losses but slow and steady - mostly 1lb one week, 0.5lb the next - but I'm happy with that. No loose skin either!
Keep the faith! x

@hopelessbusiness thanks for updating it is good to know your progress continued and slow but steady is the best way. Congratulations.

healthybychristmas · 08/11/2024 10:55

I've been on it since June and I've lost nearly 3 stone. However they have been weeks where there hasn't been any loss at all, though it hasn't gone up. I've eaten much less than normal so can't understand this but just stuck with it and it's come off very very slowly and gradually. In fact although I say it was slow, three stone and five months isn't slow is it? There was just no great big leap on the scales like there had been when I was on slimming world (though only for the first week)

qponqueen · 25/11/2024 08:34

I’m really pleased to for you, I stumbled on this post as just about to take 3rd dose and haven’t lost anything yet. But mentally I am feeling a lot better. No food noise. Please keep us posted on how you are getting on
