Not lost anything on Mounjaro - anyone else?

2 weeks in on 2.5mg, worked amazingly well for suppression (I have to make myself eat!) and consequently have eaten much less/more healthy things than previously...the scales aren't moving though! Anyone else?
Was expecting a big loss week 1, even if it was just water loss, and am a bit gutted to be honest...

How good are your scales? I always think that we pay hardly anything for scales, keep them for years and expect them to always give us accurate results! Could you weigh yourself in a chemist and just go to the same place every time?

dottyp0104 · 04/06/2024 22:40

2.5mg is the loading dose, not everyone has big losses initially. Give it time and make sure your drinking plenty

No3387 · 04/06/2024 22:43

Have you done any research?

This is not a therapeutic dose. Both 2.5 and 5 are titration doses and most in the trials didn't lose a lot on these doses.

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/06/2024 00:45

Have you built in a calorie deficit ?

hopelessbusiness · 05/06/2024 09:27

New scales are a good shout!
Yes did do research but was honestly surprised at how well my appetite was suppressed on such a small dose, so naturally assumed weight loss would follow...
Yes definitely calorie deficit, less than 1000 generally.

Do you mean you are eating less than 1000 calories a day?

Usually. No appetite for anything else!

How overweight are you?

About 4.5 stone to lose 😥

@hopelessbusiness same here! 2 weeks in and haven't lost anything. I don't feel any different 😕

Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2024 11:29

I’m now nearly three weeks in. I think I lost a couple of lbs but then seemed to put it back on again due to awful constipation. That’s eased now (if anything I’ve gone the other way!) and I had lost maybe about 5lbs this morning. I’m eating a lot less than pre mounjaro.
Also not sure how accurate my scales are though.

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 11:42

Sometimes you need to build up to 5mg/7.5mg to actually get the weight loss. The 2.5mg is only to get your body used to the medication. You aren't meant to actually lose on it but a lot of people do.

Give it a few more months and see how it's going. There are some people that unfortunately are non responders, but I think it's too early for you to know if you are or not.

Nonewclothes2024 · 05/06/2024 11:47

Same here. I have no appetite at all but not lost in 3 weeks.

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 12:10

Also, drinking lots of water helps. So maybe try drinking more to see if that helps flush out some lbs!

I would bet my bottom dollar that would be me.

do you have any side effects?

Then you may not be losing any weight because your body is anticipating being in starvation mode and is clinging on to weight as you aren't eating enough.
You need to work out what your required calorie intake should be then subtract 500 to give you a deficit.
As you get nearer to goal then that amount will taper down, if you are already eating less than a 1000 calories a day you will have nowhere to reduce to, to get the last few pounds off.

do you have any side effects?

Not really. Felt a bit nauseous week 1 and no energy but not as much week 2.
Feels counter intuitive to eat more when I really don't want to but I might have to try!

Don't eat more. You're either over estimating what you're eating or you're having a delay on the scales for some reason. Be patient!

headstone · 05/06/2024 19:41

I wouldn’t eat more either, if you genuinely are in calorie deficit you will start to loose weight your body won’t have a choice.

Nonewclothes2024 · 05/06/2024 19:47

@EmeraldRoulette bit of nausea the first week. Headaches due to ?? Low blood sugar.
Lots of people saying you can't be in a calorie deficit , but I absolutely am.
Some days all I've had is a meal replacement shake and a couple of coffees.
Lots of water.

headstone · 05/06/2024 19:49

I suggest doing more exercise, it might be your body is slowing everything down to keep the fat reserves. Do you feel cold? I get really cold when I’m a diet.

Upinthenightagain · 05/06/2024 19:50

You must be calculating wrong. If you’re eating a 1000 calories you will definitely lose. That said I had like 6 days on it where I stayed the same and then actually gained a pound. The following week I lost 4pounds over three days

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 05/06/2024 19:52

I am tempted to try mounjaro or similar but I am so scared this will be me. I can't afford to pay all that money and not shift any weight. Especially as I need to lose 6st.
