Please note: Mounjaro can only be taken if your BMI is above 30.

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

12 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

13 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

14 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

17 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

18 - Some of the places you can order from are:

MedExpress 2.5mg and 5mg. £149.99. 7.5mg £169. Use code STARTNOW. Ask for other codes if that doesn't work.
The Family Chemist 2.5mg and 5mg -£149. 7.5mg £169.
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 5mg
Bolt pharmacy 2.5mg £125, 5mg £179. 7.5mg £189
Asda 2.5mg and 5mg £184. 7.5mg £189
Boots £219 +
Chemist4U £179 +
Superdrugs

19 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

Gutted there's a code for medexpress, my order opens again on 4th June but I'll be on holiday ☹️
I waited over a month to place my last order so am wishing I'd have kept in front and been both able to order with the code and stockpile for the inevitable increase in costs due to the lack of new codes.

You could still order it on your phone from abroad?

Apparently PHARMSTOCK20 works on Med Express. I'm sorry I can't check how much it's for as my account is locked until my next order, but I'd hazard a guess at 20%.

I just tried it and it worked! Thanks ☺️

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 29/05/2024 03:48

@lurkylurk as they send out so quickly there would be no one at home to receive the order so it would definitely have melted by the time I get home to retrieve the delivery.
Might try keeping the code in the basket and see if it still works on the 9th.

MedExpress seem a bit of a shambles lately with all the mixed messages/replies people have been receiving from them about codes and discounts over the last couple of days.

GloriaBunniford · 29/05/2024 06:12

Is there anyone who has stayed on 2.5mg for their second order?
I'm ready to order my next batch and I'm in a dilemma as to whether to order 2.5mg or 5mg.
I know 2.5 is not the therapeutic dose but it's working well on reducing my appetite so I'm tempted to stay on it, but would that mean I'd be less likely to lose weight in the second month if I were to stay on 2.5?
Has anyone remained on 2.5 and continued to lose weight?

end of week 1 weigh in

SW 194
CW 187
GW 150

Actually I don’t know what my goal weight is as I have never been that sort of weight as an adult so I don’t know what will suit me. I am only 5’2 and large of bosom so will wait to set a goal.

I am so happy with my 6lb week 1 loss. I had a weekend away and had a few gin and slimline but not nearly as many as I would usually have. I just didn’t really fancy it. Managed to keep my food under control also. the food chatter started returning a bit so hoping jab 2 has stopped that.

The difference is that I know that this is just the start of my weight loss. For the last few years I would lose 4-5 lb then lose willpower and focus and regain.

I feel my weight loss is achievable now which is a very exciting feeling indeed.

chrispenrallt1 · 29/05/2024 06:57

Sorry if this is a daft question, but how are people able to stockpile? My first order was for a 2.5 and and a 5 and that was delivered 23 rd May and I started 24 th May.. can I order from my original supplier or can I shop around

QuiltedHippo · 29/05/2024 07:10

Any had a med express delivery go awol? Said it would be delivered yesterday and tracking just says at 6am yesterday it reached my local distribution centre...

Bit worried about it keeping cool if it does get delivered, but know the ice packs are good for a while. Luckily not in a rush for it.

FlappyFish · 29/05/2024 07:50

@GloriaBunniford I did two 2.5 pens. Going up doses doesn’t make you lose weight any quicker, it just allows your body to adjust to the medication. I had enough suppression I didn’t want to go up that early. When I first started I had no appetite at all. Even water was off putting. I knew I was ready for injection day though as by day 6 a teeny tiny bit of food noise had crept back in.

It is very much up to you and how you think the suppression is working.

OP posts:
greencrab · 29/05/2024 07:51

@GloriaBunniford I ordered the 5mg pen thinking that if I wanted to stay at 2.5mg I could just take half dose which would work out cheaper and allowed you option to increase within month if you want to. Now half way through fifth dose I think I've met actually go up on Friday

FlappyFish · 29/05/2024 07:52

@MsClittirati I love seeing your hope and others! It really is just the start. (I feel like a tragic old pro now 😂)

MJ gave me hope for the first time and here I am three stone lighter. It has enabled me to do something I just couldn’t do alone.

OP posts:
Bananabuttons · 29/05/2024 07:56

@FlappyFish I so hope it works on me! Mines arriving tomorrow avd I’m shitting myself. Just feel like nothing ever works for me so feeling dubious but these successes stories are so inspiring. I’ve got 4.5 stone to lose. I’ve allowed myself to dare to hope I can lose it by the start of Feb as that’s my birthday, roughly 2 lbs per week.

I made the mistake of eating too fast last night and eating too much. Ended up being so ill all night and still feel uncomfortable.

You can switch around. After my starter pack from Bolt I moved to MedExpress as they are cheaper. You just need to show proof you already had a prescription from elsewhere so that you can buy a 7.5mg pen from a new supplier.

I posted last night about how to stockpile. You just buy each pen a week or two early and use the bonus 5th dose in each pen.

Choux · 29/05/2024 08:14

My MedExpress account unlocks today. I'd like to get 20% off but was also going to buy a 12.5mg pen and they won't be released till after the code expires on the 4th June. If that expiry date is correct.

I may just buy another 10mg pen as it's a good deal. I haven't even started my 10mg pen yet as am still on the 7.5mg one so may never need 12.5mg. My brother in the US lost 40lbs on MJ and only went as high as 10mg so perhaps that's as high as I will need to go.

Mine went off track too. Yesterday I had an email saying it was due by 1pm. Didn't appear, I tracked it and it said it went from Medway to my local distribution centre and then back to Medway again! Now it's apparently at the local one again.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 29/05/2024 08:24

@Choux I only intend to go up to 10mg too. I'm hoping that's enough for me, but I'm only just over halfway through my weightloss so will have to wait and see.

Good to hear your brother managed it without going to the highest doses.
I'm still on 7.5mg and have lost 46lb, so might be doable.

RagzRebooted · 29/05/2024 08:26

Official weigh day, 10 weeks in and down 24lbs. Definitely time to step up to the full 5mg dose, I've got a few days off work so now is the best time. I'd been doing the 3.75mg closer together so my overall dose wasn't far off that anyway, but I'm hoping to get back to doing it weekly again.

NCfor24 · 29/05/2024 08:30

Just a little NSV for me today.
I've had a pair of size 14 jeans in the wardrobe with tags on for over 2 years. Tried them on today to see how long until I can wear them. I can zip them up! I'm a total apple shape and have a B belly too, so I won't wear them yet due to the top belly iykwim, but I'm looking forward to trying them on after another 7lb loss or so.
I've lost almost 2 stone but unfortunately mostly seems to be legs and face and only a little off my middle so it takes a while for me to drop sizes.
I'm super happy though!

lurkylurk · 29/05/2024 08:32

Of course, I wasn’t thinking!

Hello all, another long term lurker here!
I am on week 3 and feeling very dispirited as I have lost the grand total of about 3lb despite feeling as though I have eaten a lot less than normal and having about 6 stone to lose. I've noticed some on TikTok talking about the "dreaded week 3" of each new dose and know that was always a thing on the Bootcamp low carb threads so wonder if it may be related? Only other thought is that I injected lower down on my tummy this time, had previously gone above tummy button level and this time did below it into my ginormous gunt roll
I have a little appetite suppression but it comes and goes with no real pattern although my interest in food is different, it's as though the inspiration has gone, I find myself looking at the fridge and struggling with ideas for tea so will have to meal plan

I noticed mention of a FB group on an earlier thread. Does anyone know the name please? I have looked on Tiktok and Insta but they are all so young I feel ancient!

My weight loss started slowly. I've got about the same to lose as you. After 3 weeks I'd lost 6lbs, week 4 I lost another 2lbs which I regained in week 5. I found it quite dispiriting reading everyone else's successes when I had lost 6lbs in 5 weeks. However, I kept going and I'm almost 9 weeks and as of this morning I am 15lbs down. Moving up to 5mg definitely helped me.
I think part of my anxiety about my initial slow losses were due to my previous dieting, where I would eventually fall off the wagon. It made me feel I had to lose quickly before I gave up. The difference for me with MJ is it feels sustainable, as long as I see progress each month, I will be happy.
Remember the 2.5mg dose is about your body getting used to it. You are 6lbs lighter than when you started, this is your journey and you are heading in the right direction.

dmott · 29/05/2024 08:39

I've don't 6.25mg this morning to go up a bit ( I want to go to 7.5 but have a full 5mg pen so will do 6.25 each week to split the "extra" dose over all 4 instead)

I don't feel like 5mg was that great for me I lost 5lbs in 5 weeks which is a loss but it was a struggle.

I don't think I've had much appetite supression but I have had a bad month headache and period wise.

BlackFriYay · 29/05/2024 08:44

Fantastic work hunting down that code, @MelissaLouRocks . Thank you! What a touch. My account is locked until the 3rd but if the code expires on the 4th I should be able to sneak an order in just in time.

I noticed you mentioned being Audhd and keeping lots of notes, that tickled me and reminds me very much of my best friend who is autistic. He's the most organised and on the ball person I've ever known. He travels a lot and makes notes of absolutely everything, keeping an itinerary on him at all times. We are going to Krakow in October and I'm so pleased it's him I'm going with as my (just ADHD) means I'm the polar opposite to him in terms of organisation. I'm like a headless chicken 24-7.

Do you find that your ASD and ADHD almost battle against one another sometimes? I ask as that seems to be the case with my DS who is completely overwhelmed at the minute.

He got a diagnosis of autism age 3, inherited by his dear old dad, and will be having a further assessment for ADHD next week (I'm diagnosed myself) although it is pretty much guaranteed he has it (it was spotted by his teacher, who also has ADHD)

There is a lot of us neurospicy folk about isn't there?!

I hope you're doing OK. I saw your update about the impact reducing your morphine was having on your mood. You've done incredibly well to titrate down as much as you have, and I say that in awe as I'm currently titrating down an antidepressant at a snails pace and it's kicking my arse!

Mrsmounjaro · 29/05/2024 08:47
