I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

I do my third dose today. It definitely ran out yesterday. I ate and drank in a way that was not helpful for weight loss!

I enjoyed it though.

LoadsToLose · 05/03/2024 14:48

Thanks for sharing that analysis @FlappyFish really helpful

I have been religiously logging cals on MFP which is set at a moderate 1lb loss per week. Stayed within limits all week but over-consumed on the weekend due to social event/birthday. I thought it would be ok but just worked out my calorie deficit was only 2,500 cals for the whole week! So that’s not even a pound loss.

So I’ve decided to increase my goal to 1.5lb loss per week, that way if I go over for a couple of days I should still comfortably achieve the 3,500 deficit. I don’t want to go crazy, but feel it’s quite easy to lower the cals when at home on this medication. I’m actually eating for nutrition not hunger so could consume a bit less - but still good stuff like nuts/ seeds/ cheese/ fruit

SocksShmocks · 05/03/2024 15:22

Someone asked about vitamins - I take a multivitamin and omega oils anyway. I like knowing I’m getting enough vitamins and minerals and when changing eating habits / dieting I think it makes even more sense. If you’re getting a good balanced diet though it’s probably not needed. Except Vitamin D is recommended for everyone in the U.K. in the winter as it’s not possible to get enough from the sun.

Seems like I’m different from most here that I NEVER normally weigh myself. It’s too depressing. I am aiming to weigh weekly. I can feel that temptation to weigh more often in the hope to see the weight drop off but logically there’s no need / benefit and daily fluctuations happen all the time.

I am still not sure if my appetite has actually changed or if there’s a bit of placebo going on but I am definitely eating less. I guess it must be the medication because I’m never normally able to just ‘decide to eat less’. I am not following a diet or calorie counting though. Thought I’d take it easy at first and try and just treat food ‘normally’.

MuthaHubbard · 05/03/2024 15:39

For those at the stage to reorder - just completed mine with Asda. You run through questions again, and then I was given option of 2.5 or 5 - I've gone with 5. More or less approved straight away (based on previously submitted photos) and due to be delivered Thurs or Friday.
Only reordering now as away next week so wanted to make sure I'm around for delivery

Mortigua · 05/03/2024 15:57

Thanks so much for the reassurance that it’s not just me feeling exhausted . I also wfh and I keep feeling like I could actually fall asleep (I did last week in fact but was able to catch up )
Youre so right with the calorie deficit needed! I was really hoping I could do the fast 800 while on this at least for a bit as a kick start but not sure I’ve even managed a day and even if I did my weekend would have undone it!

Ok done a quick read and think I'll try fasting for 16hrs. So eat between 11am and 7pm or 12 noon to 8pm. Which should be easy enough as it's just skipping breakfast.

Only problem is, I like to drink coffee and tea with milk, so will probably fast but still have some milk. Don't know if they defeats the purpose!

Anyone have any advice or knowledge on fasting?

I’ve done IF in the past quite successfully (it’s keeping it off that’s the problem 🤣). Milk in a tea and coffee is fine so a normal tea of coffee with a drop of milk though no creamy coffees or added syrups. It’s only a couple of calories so won’t break the fast

i generally fast from 9pm to 1pm. So will have a coffee in the morning. I also sip on ginger and lemon tea during my fasting period

stealtheatingtunnocks · 05/03/2024 16:05

So, is it normal to move to 5mg on month 2?

FlappyFish · 05/03/2024 17:30

I think it is @stealtheatingtunnocks but on the FB groups I’ve seen some folks who have been on it longer say stick with the lowest dose possible whilst it’s having an effect. I am moving up because well. I don’t know really. 🫣

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/03/2024 18:53

@stealtheatingtunnocks This is what it says on the order form for asda. But of course they may well be trying to maximise profit by getting us all on a higher dose 😄

I'm moving up to the next dose as I don't feel that my appetite is very suppressed, although I am happy with the amount of weight I've lost so far.

It's jab day tomorrow but I'm at a work conference all day so will have to inject in the evening as I daren't risk being stuck somewhere for 9hrs if I get any side effects or feel rough.

I put my order in for the 5mg today. Still have two doses of the 2.5mg left but want to make sure I have it ready and not stress about stock levels if I leave it until I need it!

I feel I need to increase my dose as I don't feel like the 2.5mg is lasting very long. I had a good day yesterday where I felt it was working and wasn't feeling hungry etc ..but today I'm back to craving and wanting sweet things! So hoping the 5mg works better at reducing the cravings completely. Didn't end up fasting today as I felt hungry! Hopefully as I increase the dose it will become easier to fast!

stealtheatingtunnocks · 05/03/2024 20:14

I’m getting 6 days of good effect on the 2.5. I think I’ll go up to see what it’s like. If the side effects are bad or I lose too much I’ll go back down. I need to exercise as well as slim down so if would be sensible to not be exhausted or crippled by bowel stuff

1stTimeMummy2021 · 05/03/2024 20:30

@ObsidianTree Snap, I ordered my 5mg today, with 2 doses of the 2.5 still to go, I panicked that it would sell out. I to am finding that my appetite isn't that suppressed at the moment, hopefully the 5mg works better.

Has anyone found it much harder around their period? My TOTM makes me want to eat and eat and eat.

Choux · 05/03/2024 20:31

The pens come in 6 different doses from 2.5mg to 15mg. Some people must get to 15mg or they wouldn't make it.

I would think that some people lose weight and then come back down to 2.5mg as a maintenance dose for a little extra help. But that most people while in the active losing weight phase go up to a reasonably high dose unless they are getting side effects. I don't know how it works. Perhaps the really high doses are for people with higher BMIs as they need more of it to have an effect. I know some drugs are prescribed based on the patient's weight so perhaps this is the same?

NextPrimeMinister · 05/03/2024 20:42

I'm not a daily weigher, but do like to see some reduction midweek. I did jump on the scales on Sunday and had stayed the same. Am guessing my big week 1 loss is a one off and will be delighted to get 1 or 2 lb off.

R4ch402 · 05/03/2024 21:28

I overate this evening (moussaka, I can’t resist it) and now I’m feeling really sick. I’ll take this as a lessons learned and at least a good test that this is working. The portion I had tonight was the same as I’d usually have, in fact a little bit less.

wizzywig · 05/03/2024 22:32

My first pen is on its way. Is the best thing to do to eat slowly and not to eat late?

Similar experience here, I made egg, bacon and avocado on two small slices of toast which would be my normal portion (and one of my faves). I did think I should make one slice but thought I'd be fine as only had fruit and yogurt all day. Didn't finish it all but still felt like I ate to much, resulting in me feeling a bit queasy for the rest of the evening (and still now which is why I'm awake at this hour I think). First time I felt I overate and lesson learned.

👋🏻 Started my first pen last Friday. Have previously lost a stone on ozempic but managed to regain half back when I stopped. A very expensive way to lose a stone as I was on it for 6 months! I have about two stone to lose this time to take me to my goal of 10 stone (I am quite short!) Would love to be able to fit into some of my old dresses this summer…. Appetite suppressant is working but I am utterly exhausted and finding it difficult to stay awake at work! I’m a little under the weather atm so I’m hoping it’s that and not the pen. Still able to drink as much wine as before which is my major downfall- hope going up to 5 pen will help with that. Good luck everyone on the journey- glad I found this group.

Happy Season 17 GIF by The Simpsons

End of week two for me and it's good news.

SW: 13st 10
Feb 28th 13st 2 (- 8 pounds)
March 6th 12st 12 (- 4 pounds)
12 pounds total loss

I have been struggling to sit below 13 stone for the past five years (50+) so getting to 12-stone-something is a huge deal for me.

General health - I have much more energy, my sleep has improved, my heartburn has gone at night.

I have one more dose of 2.5 to take and then I will move to 0.5 (already purchased). I am being lucky with side effects so far - only a couple of times with low blood sugar and I now make sure that I eat something before I go out.

LoadsToLose · 06/03/2024 06:29

Well done @Thebaldprimadonna thats amazing loss! I know what you mean about getting past weight barriers!

Can I ask what calories you eat and if you’re tracking? Have you been doing any additional exercise too

Hi. To be honest, I haven't tracked anything or added exercise in.

I'd say that, generally, I am not feeling very hungry and the 'food noise' has stopped, so I am eating substantially less 'naturally' and snacking (a big issue before) has gone.

Yesterday, I had soup for lunch and a vegetable enchilada with salad for my tea. That's probably pretty typical at the minute.

NextPrimeMinister · 06/03/2024 07:51

@Thebaldprimadonna brilliant result.

We are similar starting weights, and I understand the sense of achievement to get to a weight starting with a 12!

PeachPoster · 06/03/2024 08:06

Some of you have spoken about fasting so thought I'd add my experience here. A few years ago I decided to follow IF and within weeks started with stomach pains. I ended up in A&E and after a scan it was clear that my gallbladder was playing up. The first thing the nurse asked was if I was fasting as she said she saw numerous people come in with the same experience. To cut a long story short, when you don't eat regularly the gallbladder doesn't get flushed regularly and the bile becomes more concentrated leading to 'sludge' and then gallstones develop, Then when you eat (especially fats) after a period of fasting you get a big gush of bile and the stones (tiny ones are worse) end up coming out of the gallbladder and get stuck in the tubes and tracks.

This happened to me and I was in agony and my liver enzymes went through the roof and they were worried my pancreas was affected. Eventually I ended up getting my gallbladder removed. I now don't get the knawing pain but still have issues with lots of bile (I get yellow diarrhoea) if I eat a lot after a big period of not eating or have too much fat in one go.

Anyway just sharing this as I know liver and pancreas issues are a real concern with this drug and keeping your gallbladder in good condition is essential for this. Lots of people have issues with their gallbladder after losing weight too quickly and I might be wrong but in my experience this was why. I also wouldn't wish gallbladder issues on anyone as they aren't fun and I had an awful time with it. I now try to ensure I eat regularly and moderately as far as I can so that my bile flows regularly rather than in gushes as even though my gallbladder is removed too much bile inflames my intestines causing IBS symptoms. It's like a slippery slope where everything gets out of balance.

I know there is so much press about the advantages of fasting but this side effect is something that doesn't get talked about enough in my opinion.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 06/03/2024 08:21

Week 2 weigh in done this morning:

Starting weight 15st 11.8
28 Feb 15st 2 (9 pound loss)
Today 14st 12 (4 pound loss)
Total loss 13 pounds

So so close to it being a stone off 😓.

I'll be taking my injection tonight due to work issues so will see how I manage the hunger as I'm starving already. I'm at a conference so won't have chance for lunch anyway.

I actually noticed a difference for the first time yesterday. I managed to fit into a work top that I haven't been able to wear for months. Today's blouse is definitely too big. I'll be so happy when I ditch all my size 20 clothes - there's still a long way to go though.

ObsidianTree · 06/03/2024 08:39

Good luck to new starters :)

Well done @Thebaldprimadonna and @PissedOffNeighbour22 ! Great second week losses for both of you :)

Thanks for the info @PeachPoster. That does sound scary. I think I'll leave the fasting for now and see how I do just calorie counting. Also partly because I don't enjoy tea and coffee without milk 🤣
