Was I wrong to mind being separated at a wedding invitation?

I was curious and inspired by an earlier threat I read. Long story short, about 8 months ago my fiancée and I were invited to a wedding of his friend's daughter (he's paying so I guess he can invite who he wants). We were told the place and that it would be 1.30pm, for the full day. A few days prior (just over a week ago) we were told it was evening only (totally made sense, we don't even know the daughter!) Then, a week ago on Saturday, the said friend phoned my fiancée and said there's been a mistake and he has a space for the whole day and I am evening only. I cracked up. In the end we went to the evening only, together, as a couple. I feel that my partner shouldn't have even told me, he should have said to his friend "Thanks, but we'll come together in at 7.30pm". And that would have been that. I don't know about you but that's what I would have done. So - am I an asshole for being mad at him (considering I didn't give a shit about this wedding in the first place)? Plus, when we went there at 7.30pm we discovered we were the only ones coming in at the evening!! Oh, and the so called friend keeps telling me how I'm now "family" hah!

I had this happen, only we were at the (main) reception when they told us. 😁

ExH had the invite, so the mistake was on him.

We were only invited to the evening it turned out.

We didn't go. ExH was too miffed / embarrassed.

Omg. Were you about to sit down to eat??

I'm a bit confused.Confused

Your fiancé was invited to a wedding with you.
But it turned that neither of you were invited to the wedding.
You were both invited to the evening-do.
Then your fiancé was invited to the wedding, as long as you didn't go with him.
Then you both went to the evening-do.
Turns out the B&G weren't actually having an evening-do .
The evening-do was just pretend to get you and your DF there.

Have I got that right @Anna1mac?

Invite received a year ago was for the full day, for both of us. About week or so before the wedding we were told it's evening only (which was absolutely fine with us). Then two days before the wedding my partner was told he can come for the whole day which he initially accepted but later decided against. We only went for the evening and it turned out we were the only evening invitees

Not quite. Thankfully.

I dread to think what went through their minds when they realised and the conversations they had. They got someone else to tell us. (Fair enough on your wedding day.)

Exactly this! I know neither my partner or his friend meant any harm but I will not forget this in a hurry.....

Jeez you sound like hard work!

ETA We only went for the evening and it turned out we were the only evening invitees

do you really think anyone could give a shit? No, they'll be enjoying themselves, having a great time and you're invisible. It's really not about you (in case you need reminding). It sounds like you're going out of your way to make drama where it doesn't exist.

Good question. We are happy just the way we are. Maybe we'll tie the knot at some point but there's no hurry.

Yeah, you give that impression.

Yeah. I did see this happen at a friends wedding. They made the mistake of inviting someone to the ceremony and evening do so they obviously read it wrong and thought it was for the whole day. I mean you can see why.

Is this a reverse and you’re the daughter, annoyed at your Dad inviting random strangers to your wedding?

We know how to read. And if anything, the more you post the more unhinged your thinking.

You seriously wish divorce on a couple you barely know because they didn’t see their dad’s friend’s fiancée (ie you) as important enough to be there for the whole day.

Goodness me, this isn’t an airport, there really is no need to announce your departure.

This. You sound very unpleasant. I think you should share this thread with your partner

Not for you to decide who posts on what thread.

Based on your behaviour on this thread, not surprised your fiancé’s friend’s daughter didn’t want you at her wedding. It was a simple cock up on their part but my goodness, calm down and get over it.
