Just that really.

Do you regret not having/doing anything in particular your big day?

Canopies.

Thought they were a waste of money. Now judge everyone who doesn't have them 😂😂. We were the first of our circle to get married 9 years ago!

I really wanted an all attendees photo, like my parents had from theirs in the 50s, but our photographers seemed to think it was impossible... I regret not getting one anyway later in the evening even if a snap. So many people gone now, and it was so special having people there from all the bits of our lives.

Not listening to the voice in my head.

Looking in the mirror as I'd have seen the ridiculous way my hair piece and veil had been put on.

No, lots of food, lots of drink. Job done.

Spending £100 a head.... wish had put towards mortgage and just had a buffet and a party!

Canopies?!

Canapés or some form of awning? I’m genuinely curious, not being a pedant 😊

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 06/09/2024 22:59

Better photos and a video. They are the things that last.

Growlybear83 · 06/09/2024 22:59

I wish we had thought of asking someone to take photos beforehand. We didn't have a photographer and when we sat down to sign the register, my mother in law decided to put new batteries into her camera, and then tried to work out how to load a film. It took several minutes, with the registrar getting increasingly impatient. We ended up with about ten decent photos of the whole day 😆😆

Canapés under a canopy?

spaceshooter · 06/09/2024 23:01

I regret not running away from it.

JC03745 · 06/09/2024 23:12

A family photo with my mum, brother and nan! I'd specifically asked the photographer beforehand for some family portraits- she took none! Yes I know I should have realised this at the time, but kept assuming they photos would be taken later but they never were. 😔

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 06/09/2024 23:16

Nope, nothing.

The DJ wasn't the best but I don't give much of a shit - it was a stunning evening and most people were outside anyway.

Lots of food is the key!

PermanentTemporary · 06/09/2024 23:18

Having a sit down meal instead of a buffet.

Secondstart1001 · 06/09/2024 23:18

Regret getting married lol

Arconialiving · 06/09/2024 23:20

We tried to save by not having a professional videographer & using a friend of my dads. His filming was rubbish & I really wish that we'd paid for the professional.

Totally agree with PP who said not to skimp on photographer / videographer. That is literally the one thing that will last forever!

Ratfinkstinkypink · 06/09/2024 23:20

Photographs. Our photographer was a no show and I hugely regret that I have no decent photos of the day.

HappiestSleeping · 06/09/2024 23:22

Not a regret about the day, just that I didn't meet my wife earlier in life. Turns out we were at so many of the same places for decades but our paths never crossed. I wish they had.

expiredplants · 06/09/2024 23:26

Eloping.

Bansheed · 06/09/2024 23:27

Photo booth

fourelementary · 06/09/2024 23:30

I regret not having a list of the photos I wanted taken like group family photos. My sister in law was completely organised with the ones she wanted and I hadn’t even thought about it and wish I had.

Nothing else though- I may be biased but so many people who were there said it was the best wedding ever. It was very special for us and a perfect mixture of low-key but celebratory too. And we finished the night with soup and an after party with close friends, drinking and live music (after a quickie!) so it really was the perfect wedding… and I should know, I’ve had a few! 😆

Flippingheckfire · 06/09/2024 23:31

We gave a list of family photos we wanted done after the ceremony to the photographer but completely forgot to specify a picture of me and my dad just before walking down the aisle. He got ones of us, but as we were walking, nothing was quite right.

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 06/09/2024 23:41

A videographer - although I loved the day and wanted people to feel relaxed, I wish we took the chance to capture some footage to look back on and show our kids, as well as capturing all the relatives who were there but now no longer with us.

a free bar and bigger evening buffet - we didn't have a huge amount of money but still worry that people might have felt there wasn't enough.

Makingchocolatecake · 06/09/2024 23:44

I wish I could have had an evening do (and a photobooth) but we got married in covid so weren't allowed.

BinkyBeaufort · 06/09/2024 23:48

No. Married the right man with a few friends and family. No fuss, no ridiculous expense or gimmicky nonsense, just love, hope and fun.

EmeraldDreams73 · 06/09/2024 23:49

A decent photographer. The one I'd booked broke her foot 3 days before our wedding. She sent a professional photographer in her place (obvs last minute) - there was no time to do more than a quick chat but our original photographer prepped her well. She was nice but her photos were crap. Our photographer was mortified and spent ages trying to edit them etc. We got the digital copies after 3 months, some of which were OK of the indoor ceremony, but the outdoor photos were awful and so badly coloured as well as hideously unflattering of us both. Nearly a year later we haven't bothered ordering the physical album we paid for as we were so underwhelmed.
