Have I chosen the wrong wedding dress?!

I'm having a wedding dress freak out.

I bought this mermaid style wedding dress, at the time I loved it...now I'm looking back on the pictures and panicking that I look fat. The more I Google my body shape (rectangle) - the more the Internet tells me to avoid mermaid dresses.

Honest opinions please on whether you like it or not? Do i look fat? Does it suit me?! Aghhhhh. Thanks x

You aren't a rectangle?

That is definitely a defined waist!

BellesAndGraces · 25/07/2024 21:03

Have you paid for the dress in full and when is your wedding?

WashableVelvet · 25/07/2024 21:04

It’s lovely and you look great

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/07/2024 21:04

You don't look fat you have a lovely figure but it isn't lying right across your hips.

CurlsLDN · 25/07/2024 21:05

Why on earth are you describing yourself as a rectangle body shape?! You clearly have an hourglass figure.

the dress looks lovely, you don’t look fat, this is just normal nerves. If you can go back and try it on again to settle your mind either way

WYorkshireRose · 25/07/2024 21:06

The dress looks like it's probably a size too small.

Dontbesaft · 25/07/2024 21:06

It is beautiful. You look fabulous.

if you are unsure about a particular detail ask the dress maker for her suggestions

Alwayswonderedwhy · 25/07/2024 21:06

It's lovely and you have a great figure but I'd say it needs altering across your stomach/hips to make it fit properly.

Fiddlerdragon · 25/07/2024 21:07

Your shape and dress are lovely, it does look a size too small though. Can it be altered?

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:09

Thank you but I could hardly breathe 😂. It was tied very tight..I didn't realise the back fat at the back

I agree it looks tight across your stomach. Can it be altered?

CoffeeCatsAndVodka · 25/07/2024 21:09

It's a gorgeous dress but I'm afraid it does look a bit tight across your stomach. How long is it until your wedding? Could you either get it let out or better still get the next size up?

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:09

I've paid in full but wedding isn't until Feb next year

It’s a great dress for you
a slight alteration needed on the hip's and it is perfect x
it’s not a size too small it fits great on bust and waist

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:11

It is a size too small! They're going to size up at the next alterations in jan, but hoping to have lost some weight before then 🫠

I think it looks beautiful. Really suits your figure. I agree that it's maybe a tad tight in the tummy area but nothing that can't be sorted by next Feb. Don't stress it's really lovely. Congrats on your wedding

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:12

Thank you - and I hadn't noticed that, but quite a few people have mentioned it. Will definitely keep this in mind at alterations time...if I keep it. Gosh!

I think it looks lovely. I had a similar wobble about my dress…I just got married this Tuesday and spent the buildup to the wedding convinced that the dress looked bad. But it didn’t look bad. I felt comfy and confident on the day. It was all nerves at having made this big decision and committed to a dress!

zaxxon · 25/07/2024 21:14

That's a gorgeous dress and it really suits you!

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:15

Thank you so much - it's such a big decision isn't it. Hope you had a lovely day xx

Where are you getting married? I think you look great and with a couple of alterations I think you will feel great too. But, being old and boring and practical, if you are getting married in the uk, it might be a bit….chilly in February?

Sixpence39 · 25/07/2024 21:15

One of the most stunning dresses I've ever seen! Get some alterations to make you feel more comfortable and enjoy looking like a queen!

ToBeOrNotToBee · 25/07/2024 21:17

You look stunning, sure a bit tight at the moment, but thats fixable.

Keep it!!

Overthebow · 25/07/2024 21:17

If they’re sizing up then it’ll be fine, I was going to say it’s a bit small, but the dress and your figure are great so once you get one that fits it’ll look lovely.

Vebar2020 · 25/07/2024 21:09

I've paid in full but wedding isn't until Feb next year

So I can be fully honest! I love the dress and think it suits you but there’s a bit across the hips that looks a little tight and, if you can, I would get it adjusted. I wouldn’t have said that if your wedding was next week 😂
