Is it silly to wear trainers

So I am getting married soon and I hate hate hate wearing heals because they are so uncomfortable and sore to walk in but I think they are really pretty and are more elegant..

Is it silly to wear trainers under my dress as no one will see my shoes anyway or should I have high heels and trainers with me for later??

Definitely fine, get yourself some personalised converse!

ashiningbeaconinspace · 10/04/2024 10:31

I've been to a couple of wedding fairs with my son's fiancée recently. White trainers with fancy laces seemed to be quite popular. Wear what makes you comfortable and will allow you to enjoy your wedding.

I wore flip flop sandals to mine, though I was 9 months pregnant 😂

I wore low heels for the ceremony (I wanted an excuse to buy sparkly shoes!) and as soon as it was over I put on a shiny new pair of white converse for the rest of the day!

I know several people who have worn trainers under their long wedding dress. I was in a shin length dress but if mine went to the floor I would have probably just worn the converse all day.

My SIL wore white leather converse and added blue and gold ribbon to suit the theme.

My cousin and her wife got personalised trainers for their wedding.

You’re on your feet for such a long time it makes sense to me!

Wear the trainers! Splash out on some fancy designer ones and enjoy them for years after! We deserve better than wearing shoes that hurt.

I envy - and used to emulate - those that can walk in heels comfortably.

TheFlis · 10/04/2024 10:36

I wore low heels for the ceremony and photos (as you could see my shoes when I walked) then switched to custom trainers for the reception.

It’s your wedding day - completely up to you. As pp said, buy yourself some special wedding trainers.

A few years ago, I saw a wedding at Lake Garda. The couple and their guests were all Dutch, super cool and beautiful. I remember they were almost all really dressed up with trainers.

moomoo1967 · 11/04/2024 07:37

Look up Cinders wish on TikTok, they customise wedding trainers to your specification

JC50 · 11/04/2024 07:38

Go for comfort every time! I wore Dr Martens under a traditional wedding dress. I danced all night!

PickledPurplePickle · 11/04/2024 07:39

I wore wedding trainers back in 2002, wear whatever makes you happy, and comfortable

SwimMum26 · 11/04/2024 07:40

Buy some sparkly trainers. No one will see anyway and you can enjoy your day while being comfortable. Have a wonderful day.

HappyChilli · 11/04/2024 07:42

I wore sparkly flip flops!

WildRose42 · 11/04/2024 07:50

One of my biggest regrets at my wedding was wearing high heels. I paid a stupid amount of money for them, they looked gorgeous but they were the most uncomfortable, painful, irritating shoes ever! They made my feet so sore. I wore them for the ceremony and photos, then removed them worse flats. No one saw them, my dress was too long, so definitely wear something completely comfortable. Some nice flats or trainers, whatever you feel better in. 👍🏻👍🏻

love lemonade...have a google! x

WaltzingWaters · 11/04/2024 07:55

Nice white trainers absolutely.

Or if you want heels look up some ballroom dance ones. They’re so much comfier. I have a pair I wear specifically for dancing (only go on the ballroom dance floor) and a pair I wear for weddings/events and they’re so comfy I can keep them on all day!

Addled1 · 11/04/2024 07:57

The bridal shops I visited said heels are very out for brides. The seamstress I saw said the majority have been wearing nude sparkly primark flop flops. I wore sparkly flat sandals from Debenhams online. Nobody sees the heels under your dress if it's fitted properly so no need to be in pain. Be you.

Imisssleep2 · 11/04/2024 08:02

It's your wedding, you do what you want and what your comfortable in, there is no right or wrong answer and if your dress is floor length no one will know anyway, just make sure you know what your footwear will be for alteration purposes. A friend of mine had some custom made trainers made for her wedding. I wore small heels for the ceremony and meal then once dancing started I switched to flats, not flip flops but some flat sandals I brought for the day.

I got these. They’re so light weight and comfortable. Mine were silver and sparkly and I am not a heels person at all and yet I could dance in them and they had nice grippy kind of suede soles so were great for ceilidh dancing!

Joyettan · 11/04/2024 08:10

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. If that is trainers, wear trainers. There are a lot of flat shoes out there too. You don't have to wear heels.

LanaL · 11/04/2024 08:22

Absolutely fine!! You could always get some heels for the actual ceremony and then change if you felt better ?

I had some lovely heels - but they weren’t seen under my dress as it was so long ! If I had worn flats I would have been tripping over ! Plus my husband is really tall so I would have looked so little next to him 🤣

I have to say , I did worry about my feet aching , but I was in such a high all day I didn’t notice ! I worried that my hair would be uncomfortable because I had extensions and so many bobby pins - again , didn’t notice ( although I did feel the relief when I took it all out 🤣 I worried my dress would feel uncomfortable as it was a long train , I worried the corset would be uncomfortable as I had lost weight so had to really tighten it …. But none of that mattered on the day !

My sister in law had an amazing dress and amazing heels and I’m pretty certain she put trainers on for the reception too - you couldn’t tell!

Do what makes you comfortable! I have to say though I do like that I have a special pair of shoes that were my wedding shoes and on our anniversary I wear them when we go out and I feel like it’s a lovely , sentimental touch !

Also - they were cheap! The don’t look it , they’re so sparkly! I can’t remember which ones now but they were identical to a designer pair I saw for £800 ( that I could neither afford nor ever justify ) but they honestly look the same - a few people said ( when seeing them sitting down lol , oh you got them! I could have lied and said yes but I did the girl thing of “ omg these were only £30 ! “ 🤣

dreamcatchmee · 11/04/2024 08:23

I got some personalised converse style shoes from Etsy and didn't regret it :)

Startingagainandagain · 11/04/2024 08:29

Do whatever you want! it is your wedding. Sounds like a great idea to me.

wonderingwhatlifemeans · 11/04/2024 08:30

I wore sparkly silver Toms under my dress and was supremely comfortable all day!
