Did you name your tables?

Just that really - did your tables have names relevant to you and if so, what were they?
The only examples of this I can think of is one wedding I went to where the tables were named after Disney films and one where the tables were all places the Bride & Groom had travelled to together
I think it’s quite an easy way to add a personal touch rather than just numbers but I’m struggling to think of something we could use

What did you have?

No we just had numbers. Unless there’s a theme which comes easily to you and is meaningful (one wedding had walks they’d been on together because they loved walking) it seems a bit contrived. I remember one wedding each table was named after a chocolate bar and the favour was a bar of that chocolate and that worked well.

My favourite table name themes are ones where one of the couple had clearly let the other partner name the tables. One stood out as everything was perfectly shabby chic, pale pinks, small flowers everywhere, except the table numbers were red t shirt cut outs and named Ronaldo, Rooney etc. Didn’t fit with the rest of the aesthetic!

A friend had dates/places they'd been together 😉

SheWoreYellow · 21/05/2022 11:13

We had places we’d visited. Seemed like a tiny way of avoiding people thinking ‘oh I’m only table 9’.

Tlollj · 21/05/2022 11:17

My son wanted the names of the Arsenal invincible team.
But changed his mind when I asked if I could sit on Thierry Henry. 😂

I think we looked here for ideas

We went for different areas in Disney world e.g. fantasyland, adventureland etc. Which was because I wanted a tiny touch of Disney at the wedding without being ott. This was the compromise lol.

ColourfulOnesie · 21/05/2022 11:52

@SheWoreYellow yes that’s what I don’t really want, people saying ‘why is she table 3 and I’m table 5’ that website is very helpful thankyou

@Tlollj 😂😂😂 a question we’ve all asked at some point or another I’m sure!

@toastofthetown the red t shirts sound very jarring, I would only have the name of something but still all in the chosen colour theme
I agree I don’t want it to seem out of place and forced though

My nephew had football players too!

boudicca79 · 21/05/2022 11:56

My sister had all of their favourite movies

Amdone123 · 21/05/2022 11:57

@Tlollj , brilliant 👏

SpaceJamtart · 21/05/2022 12:13

My cousin had names of kids TV shows. It fit with them as they met at the nursery where they both work and they are short term foster carers for young children so their lives are very child oriented. I liked it, we were at Teletubbies table.
Everything else about the wedding was normal and adult so it was a nod to their lives not a whole theme

justanotherlaura · 21/05/2022 12:17

We had group names for animals, an army of frogs, a parliament of owls, a pride of lions. I made signs with the animals on, looked really nice

Redcrayons · 21/05/2022 12:19

Yes. It was places that we’d been to together.

ShadowPuppets · 21/05/2022 12:19

We tied it to the venue. Our reception marquee was in the herb garden of our venue so we went with different herb names - Rosemary, Thyme, Sage etc.

Workingmomsrule · 21/05/2022 12:20

We had photos of DHs favourite football team players old and current.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 21/05/2022 12:22

We had favourite song titles. Music was part of our careers and our favours were music-related too.

MargosKaftan · 21/05/2022 12:33

We had sweets from our childhood favourites for table names, then put a bowl of those sweets on each table. (Then we discovered that we couldn't agree if they were called disco discs or chocolate jazzies)

BowerOfBramble · 21/05/2022 12:34

I’ve seen ones where they were named after famous ships. And one named after family pets. Honestly though I don’t remember ever in my life thinking being at table 9 meant I was less loved than the people at table 7.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 21/05/2022 12:37

No, we had numbers. Wish I'd thought of it though.

Jesusmaryjosephandtheweedon · 21/05/2022 12:48

Yes we had Liverpool player names. Both DH and I are huge fans. We didn't have an lfc themed wedding just a few little touches. Table plan was a pitch with the players jerseys and the names of people at the table on the Jersey.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/05/2022 12:53

We had numbers; DS and GF are having numbers.

TheIsaacs · 21/05/2022 12:59

We’ve been to weddings with the following:

types of tea - meal was afternoon tea
board games - the couple really into board games
flowers - brides father was a head gardener
places - couple did a lot of travelling

mrsfeatherbottom · 21/05/2022 13:00

We had types of coffee drinks - it started off as a joke because my dress was a kind of creamy colour and the bridesmaids were in brown and flowers were cream. The pretentious lady in the wedding dress shop said there was a 'café, mocha, latte' theme. Now, DH loves his coffee so it also made sense from that point of view.

PuffyMcPuffFace · 21/05/2022 13:00

We had places we were going on our honeymoon trip

StiggyZardust · 21/05/2022 13:03

No table names or seating plan.
