Did you name your tables?

Just that really - did your tables have names relevant to you and if so, what were they?
The only examples of this I can think of is one wedding I went to where the tables were named after Disney films and one where the tables were all places the Bride & Groom had travelled to together
I think it’s quite an easy way to add a personal touch rather than just numbers but I’m struggling to think of something we could use

What did you have?

With the casino connection Las Vegas casino names would work well- you'd have so many to choose from!

Bellagio
Caesars Palace
Venetian
Palazzo
Paris
Luxor
Red Rock
Royale
Aria
Excalibur
Sahara
Mirage
MGM
Mandalay

No. But instead of place name cards we had an old or funny photo of each guest in a small frame in their place.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/05/2022 13:52

My brother named his tables Lord of the Rings places 😁Our 2012 wedding were named after gold medalists Olympic winners for UK. My sister's were numbers.

thismeansnothing · 22/05/2022 13:53

Ours were named after favourite bands who's gigs we'd been to

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/05/2022 20:02

We had famous couples that meant something to us: Cathy and Heathcliff, Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy, Mulder and Scully, Frank and Betty Spencer…😁

Imissprosecco · 23/05/2022 14:52

We're having lakes in the Lake District. We go there a lot and DP likes photography so there's a framed photo of the lake (taken by him) on every table

nutellingyou · 23/05/2022 14:57

We had famous film couples, Johnny & Baby, Bridget and Mark Darcy and so on...

We named our tables after Muppets. DH loves the Muppets. The rest of the wedding was quite sophisticated Smile

Ha! I'm a huge Jim Henson fan and really wanted to name our tables after Muppets but this sparked such an OTT reaction of wailing and pearl clutching from both sets of parents that I relented. We did have Kermit and Miss Piggy cake toppers though. DH's suggestion for the tables was Back to the Future quotes . In the end we went for Whisky distilleries, as per another pp.

Catnuzzle · 23/05/2022 15:59

Significant pets. Our cats were the top table and then other family/wedding party pets were the other tables. It was a way of having them with us on the day.

maeveiscurious · 23/05/2022 16:12

Places we visited together and our honeymoon was our table

crochetcrazy1978 · 23/05/2022 16:15

We had films we loved for ours

northernstars · 23/05/2022 16:34

DH didn't want numbers for the weird ranking thing so we went round the houses for a while looking for a theme. Ended up just doing A to E!

TheFlis12345 · 23/05/2022 16:39

Ours were named after our favourite pubs and ones that were significant to us over the years e.g. where we had our first date.

VoiceoftheMysterons · 23/05/2022 16:44

We got married in the Lake District so had the names of some of the lakes for our tables.

aaronsnorkelling · 23/05/2022 17:43

SheWoreYellow · 21/05/2022 11:13

We had places we’d visited. Seemed like a tiny way of avoiding people thinking ‘oh I’m only table 9’.

I have been on table 9 of 9
It feels shit

MarpleFan · 23/05/2022 17:51

Make sure your caterer, or whomever is helping people find their table, is really briefed on where each table is, especially if you have quite a few tables. When it's just numbers it's usually pretty clear where the tables will be, but with names they could be anywhere and you can end up with people wandering aimlessly trying to find where they're sitting.

roughtyping · 23/05/2022 19:13

We had films that we both love.

Workyticket · 23/05/2022 19:15

Nope. We just had 2 long tables with 40 od people on each.

No top table, just us in the middle of one of the 2 long tables.

I couldn't face the hassle of splitting people between tables!

PragmaticWench · 23/05/2022 19:17

We had numbers 1-10. Table 9 were the people I thought would behave badly. They did.

buntywindermere · 23/05/2022 19:32

We realised we had the same number of tables as there are letters in our names - eg. "B o b & B u n t y" so instead of numbers our tables got letters and we made lovely initial signs that we have up in our bedroom now.

pinklavendar · 23/05/2022 19:45

I went to a wedding recently where the tables were named after different gin brands and the table centrepieces were gin trees with the glasses containing the particular brand of the table name. Was a very popular touch

Doje · 23/05/2022 19:52

My DH has a hobby where certain places are meaningful to him. We had those places as our table names. I'd given up caring at that point and was just happy it was a decision I didn't have to make! 😅

tkwal · 23/05/2022 19:52

Family surnames from both sides, and one dearly departed friend. We thought it was a good way of keeping memories alive and how families spread and grow

Wowcherarestalkingme · 23/05/2022 20:07

We got engaged on holiday so our tables were landmarks from the city we got engaged in

Zazdar · 23/05/2022 20:11

No table names or seating plan.

We did the same.
