What did you have as your wedding favours

I am looking for some inspiration for weddings favours and was wondering if people could give me some ideas!
I am getting married in March in a stately home type of venue. We have a pale yellow colour scheme (so quite spring like).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We had Marie Curie daffodils for our wedding, after making a donation to them instead of buying or making anything

Stroan · 17/11/2019 22:05

We had a big wooden chest full of home made shortbread and tablet in little cellophane bags plus about 50 Tunnocks Teacakes. Completely empty at the end of the night.

All the women also got a heart stuffed with lavender. It was a long engagement and I had plenty of spare time to make stuff like that!

BlackSwanGreen · 17/11/2019 22:05

We had little boxes with a piece of fudge inside.

I think the charity idea for your grandads dog is a lovely gesture!

delilabell · 17/11/2019 22:11

Mini egg "nests" here too

CherryPavlova · 17/11/2019 22:13

We didn’t as it wasn’t really a thing when we married.
IM doing our daughters for next summer and they’ll be used as place marker so, little cream gift bags of local and homemade treats with a miniature of quince brandy, a bag of fudge, a small jar of friends honey and a small jar of strawberry jam. Probably. Plus a Plan UK ring wedding favour donation to help prevent child marriage globally.

Nothing. Got married over 30 years ago, people didn't bother

cleowasmycat · 17/11/2019 22:14

My friend has little bubbles and a solphadine!

Passmethecrisps · 17/11/2019 22:17

I hand painted a lot of tiny terracotta pots which I had planted with spring bulbs. They were the table centre pieces but were also offered to the guests to take away.

We also had little packets of seeds.

With hindsight I wouldn’t bother. Probably.

I liked the updates from people who planted their seeds. I did not like seeing the pots I painted over hours shattered over the floor after realising that I hadn’t kept myself one

We got married at Easter...we had Lindt chocolate bunnies! I made name tags and added them to the ribbon ready on them, none were left behind!

user1485155939 · 17/11/2019 22:27

We had a chocolate love heart lolly with the persons name tied around the wrapper so it was a favour and a place setting ❤️

Superlooper · 17/11/2019 22:28

2 chocolates in a wrapper that also had their name for place setting

terriblyangryattimes · 17/11/2019 22:29

Fridge magnets with the date on and the same silhouette we had on the invites. Cheap and cheerful and we love spotting them when we visit friends and families

stucknoue · 17/11/2019 22:29

Don't, waste of money, buy a drink for everyone

Balloondog · 17/11/2019 22:30

We just did a little box of Jordan almonds for each guest but the only ones I still have from someone else's wedding are an ice cream scoop and wine stopper in silver. (They were alternated at the seats). I think a nice bottle opener would go down equally well.

ThomasRichard · 17/11/2019 22:33

We’re also getting married in March next year :) We have lots of herbs in our garden so at the end of the summer we made lavender oil and herbal body scrubs. Each guest is getting a phial of oil and a tiny jam jar of body scrub. If they don’t like them or take them, I’ll use them!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/11/2019 22:34

We were at a wedding recently and got scratch cards and miniature bottles of booze as favours. We won £8 :)

MinecraftMother · 17/11/2019 22:34

No one ever remembers them. Pass.

Hoolahlah66 · 17/11/2019 22:35

We made cds up of all ‘our’ songs. No mushy stuff just songs we both love. We first met through our love of music etc so felt very personal.

TeaAndCake · 17/11/2019 22:37

Maltesers in small boxes tied with a bit of gingham ribbon. I put everyone's name on a little tag so doubled as place names.
Everyone likes maltesers.

Alabasterangel6 · 17/11/2019 22:44

I had sugared almonds! Not very long ago.

I do quite like ‘tradition’ and I believed the tradition of favours is giving 5 sugared almonds to represent Health, Wealth, Happiness, Fertility and Long Life. Also you can’t divide the number 5 into 2. It’s centuries old tradition.

But as with many things it has expanded and the original idea lost.

Expressedways · 17/11/2019 22:44

Had an open bar instead. I’m pretty sure no one missed the favours!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 17/11/2019 22:47

I had a manned photo booth with props. For every picture , the people in the shot got a copy and so did we. So they got to have a lovely silly time posing, a picture to take away as a memento and we got a book and disc of all the pics at the end. One of the best things I spent money on for my wedding!

feelingsinister · 17/11/2019 22:51

We did jellybeans. We found really expensive packages but then bought our own and little bags which was so much cheaper.

I'd definitely go for something edible. A sweet or chocolate table with little bags seems like a good plan so people can help themselves.

AzraiL · 17/11/2019 22:53

We made a playlist of music that we love (a mix of old and current for back then) and burnt them onto CD's. One of DH's friends had a machine and printed a beautiful picture on them, with our names and our wedding date. Had them placed on the tables, 1 CD per family. Went down a treat, actually received a few calls from guests afterwards telling us how much they enjoyed the playlist. We have a few copies and 13 years later still like to listen to it every now and again.
