What did you have as your wedding favours

I am looking for some inspiration for weddings favours and was wondering if people could give me some ideas!
I am getting married in March in a stately home type of venue. We have a pale yellow colour scheme (so quite spring like).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

@popsadaisy
Why not the traditional sugared almonds - I think the significant number is five - wrapped in either cellophane or net circles tied with ribbon ? You can buy in and make them yourself . A bit continental but lovely for spring as they come in pastel shades .

Majorcollywobble · 17/11/2019 22:58

Buy in bulk

RSPB bird badges. A different one for each guest. £1 per person, a donation to a good cause (lots of bird lovers amongst our friends and family) and an individual keepsake for our guests that doesn't have our names emblazoned all over it.

For those saying "put it towards a drink" - wedding favours usually cost around £1-2 per person, putting that towards a bar bill won't get you very far! We had a free bar anyway (DIY wedding and free flowing booze was a priority for us) but tbh an extra £100 behind the bar wouldn't have made a difference whereas people still mention the badges years later.

I love these threads cos people always say to do food and drink cos everything else is tat

Them someone always comes on to argue that their homemade lip balm went down an absolute storm or that everyone just loved the bit of driftwood with the couples name and wedding date on it. Newsflash: no they don’t.

bettythebutterfly · 17/11/2019 23:05

We gave each guest a lottery ticket for that evening's draw. No one won a million, but a few of them were smaller winners!

Titsywoo · 17/11/2019 23:09

I had tiny tins with m&ms in our wedding colours. It's really a waste. No-one cares any they all get left. The lottery ticket one is the best idea if you really want to do it.

bluejayblue · 17/11/2019 23:09

A wedding I went to had mini sticks of rock with a heart in the middle and the couples names around the heart, wedding held in the USA so it was unusual as they don't have rock. The nearest they have are christmas candy canes.

Ginfordinner · 17/11/2019 23:11

Do people really want keepsakes of other people's weddings?

I don't.

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 17/11/2019 23:20

Nothing

NerdyBird · 17/11/2019 23:38

We had a food item from where each of us is from, one of which had a label with our initials and the date. Can't remember if many were left, maybe a couple. They were quite small and easy to take away. They really didn't cost very much. We did also have loads of food and drink!
I've had a nice slate coaster, sweets, sugared almonds, chocs etc. I quite like wedding favours but wouldn't care if people didn't do them.

Bunnylady53 · 17/11/2019 23:41

Little net bags of sugared almonds. And we put a disposable camera on each table - got some lovely “ casual” photos. There’s a word that photographers use for the pictures where you’re not formally posing but I can’t remember it!

Bunnylady53 · 17/11/2019 23:44

Reportage that was it

HerondaleDucks · 17/11/2019 23:46

When my mum cut back her lavender bushes, we saved it, dried it out and then broke it up into little bits, added a few extra drops of lavender oil, divided it into little breathable bags to our colour scheme and set them out for each person. They were so popular that we had people asking for extras, which we luckily had.
I think it's safe to say they made it to every guests pant/sock drawer because there were none left!

Chocolate favours, two in a little box, many years ago.
The best bit was going round the chocolate hall of a large department store and trying some from each counter. When we chose the chocolatier we then got a selection and tried them. I recently found a paper where I had drawn a picture of each chocolate and some tasting notes. Brought back good memories.
No, of course I’m not a chocoholic (gasp). It was fun. Gosh the chocolates were nice.
Christmas is coming isn’t it.....

whatthehelldowecare · 19/11/2019 14:06

we're having little bottles of wine from a local winery. They're amending the labels on them to include our names and wedding date

CiliatedEpithilium · 19/11/2019 14:09

Glass and brass boxes full of sugared almonds and heart shaped chocolates. Hexagonal for the women and oblong for the men. We both still have ours and they are so pretty.

Charlottejade89 · 20/11/2019 14:54

I'm getting married next year in june and we are doing either homemade honeycomb or fudge. Either one will be low cost and we arent having a 3 course dinner just a hog roast so I feel like they are needed as abit of an extra

hannahfaith · 12/12/2019 17:49

We had a Disney themed wedding so I went on eBay and bought a lot of pins for around $50 USD and had them set out at cocktail hour so people could trade and such. We ended up with a lot to take home with us but they were all different from one another so we didn't mind. The guests seemed to love getting to trade pins like they were at Disney. (we've now used the remaining to trade in the parks when we go)

We are planning to have tea spoons and tea as our wedding favour. My family is not from the UK so I wanted to gift them something very british so this idea seemed perfect when I saw it online

What did you have as your wedding favours
Chocolateandchats · 15/12/2019 00:23

I had cupcakes in little boxes tied with my wedding colours. They looked beautiful.

RJnomore1 · 15/12/2019 00:25

I am the person who loves wedding favours and can tell you what was at every wedding I’ve ever been to.

We had decorated eggs. Our cake topper was a goose egg so we had hen eggs to match.

Favourites have been personalised rock with bride and grooms names, mini Bailey and tins of tablet.

So erm edibles go down well with me!

RJnomore1 · 15/12/2019 00:26

The teaspoons are beautiful. I’d love that.

wraithberry · 15/12/2019 00:32

Mini cheesecakes

redappleandaquamarinebow1987 · 15/12/2019 00:35

@RJnomore1 thank you. Saw the idea online and loved it. The egg idea sounds so lovely too.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 15/12/2019 00:41

We had some little love heart chocolates in a small bag with a ribbon. Friends have had shot glasses, drinking glasses, little jars of local honey and a lolly table with take home bags.
