What did you have as your wedding favours

I am looking for some inspiration for weddings favours and was wondering if people could give me some ideas!
I am getting married in March in a stately home type of venue. We have a pale yellow colour scheme (so quite spring like).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Jelly beans - may have been related to a nickname!

Scratch cards inside an card in our colour theme said ticket to love which made sense for us as had a train ticket invite , luggage tag place labels etc

I didn’t want to spend stupid amounts and everything seemed tacky this way it was about £1.10p per head

Scratchcards

Ohdeariedear · 17/11/2019 19:45

I bought bags of foil-wrapped chocolate hearts and put them in little boxes and tied them with ribbon that matched my colour scheme.

My ds and dil live in N Wales where there is a lot of slate. They bought plain slate coasters really cheap and personalised them themselves.

We didn't do favours as such, but instead of place name cards, we had a small silver photo holder (50p each) with a photo of the relevant guest in each place. Some photos were from years gone by, some slightly embarrassing etc, but they went down really well, encouraged conversation and guests could take them home.

We had favours from Cancer Research, it was a charity that meant a lot to both me and my now DH. We got cufflinks and little badges and I put them in little organza bags on each place setting.

Napqueen1234 · 17/11/2019 19:51

Homemade gin. Cheapest gin brewed with ginger and rhubarb, was a few batches so varying yellow/pinkness. Little jars bought off amazon. Stickers off Etsy. Total cost £120 for 120 guests. So worth it- many drank on the day, others have taken home but kept the little jars as a keepsake. Also made the place setting look lovely at relatively low cost!

Well we had sugared almonds :) I bet I'm the only one
I do like them, they're just a little extra special. Other people are so much better than me at these sorts of tiny details I am amazed so few think they're worthwhile.

newbingepisodes · 17/11/2019 19:55

We got the cancer research U.K. wedding favours cards instead put them on every place setting.
Here's the link you buy them (any suggested donation) they come with a card and a pin badge of your choice.

I made biscuits and iced them in our colours for everyone (individually packaged), didnt cost much.

My sister made a donation to a charity instead.

To be honest, unless you can eat or drink it it's probably going to get left behind.

Cuddling57 · 17/11/2019 19:59

So many good suggestions on here. Definitely the charity and sweets/chocolates ones are a good idea.
@StealthPolarBear I remember the sugar almonds were so popular as a wedding favour Smile

Oblomov19 · 17/11/2019 20:01

Didn't do them. Never taken any either. Mostly they are vile.
Most people leave them behind.

Mini bottles of rum

Maybe I’m a sentimental softie but I have kept a few favours I have received at weddings and they do remind me of the couple I received them from. I am lucky that I have received some nice things that weren’t mass produced tat specifically designed as a wedding favour. Off the top of my head, I can think of a salt & pepper shaker set (sounds random but it worked!), a Christmas ornament (Not helpful at springtime, so sorry) and a beautiful hand beaded star which was actually a key ring (made by worthwhile charity). Edibles I remember - a jar of handmade chutney, a jar of peanut brittle. Pretty much all of these things were attached to the place card, and worked well with the decor of the venue so didn’t seem contrived. But I do agree with a previous poster in that if your budget is limited, probably better to skip altogether and spend the money elsewhere. I don’t notice if couples don’t give favours - the only thing I notice by its absence is a thank you card 😂 But, as you’ve asked for ideas... As your wedding will be in spring, I hope you are using some lovely seasonal bulbs in your wedding flowers - if so you could do a small flowering bulb in a terracotta pot. It will add to your venue decor and also, I mean, who doesn’t love a daffodil to put in their home after a bleak winter? Otherwise, if it’s the end of March and close to Easter, you could do an Easter egg.

Mini welsh cakes and mints from my home town ! Went down well

IrregularCommentary · 17/11/2019 20:04

Also March wedding. We had a small pouch of mini eggs, with a name tag so they doubled up as placeholders.

OhTheRoses · 17/11/2019 20:05

Got married on 91. What favours?
Guests had a lovely meal, hosted bar, fantastic string quartet, flowers from garden on the tables. Such a lovely day - the sun came so barrels of beer and pimms were put on at the last minute.

@Napqueen1234 we did the same :)
We had a low cost wedding and didn't do a free bar, so a "shot" bottle of gin meant our guests got another drink alongside the welcome drinks and wine! All the favours were drank!

BananaBooBoo · 17/11/2019 20:06

Mini candle from local candle maker with our names and date of wedding in a little organza bag.

Loveislandaddict · 17/11/2019 20:08

We didn’t have any, they. Weren’t a thing twenty years ago.

bride2b19 · 17/11/2019 20:10

I did this exact same thread for our wedding!
It quickly became evident that edible favours were the way to go.
We used a company called La Maison Guimauve marshmallows. They created beautiful bespoke marshmallows in a flavour and colour to match our colour scheme and attached beautiful little tags thanking everyone for coming. We had a fire pit outside and I ordered some long skewers from amazon and people toasted them, they went down a treat and there were very few left.
For the children I did personalised boxes with their names on (Etsy) and put little games, jewellery kits, plane making kits ect and then I gave them a small canvas and some pens to draw a picture of themselves for us to keep. We got some beautiful pictures and messages. I also bought pretty jars for £1 from The Range and filled them with sweets.
We got lots of compliments.

Homemade tablet

Tractorgirlz · 17/11/2019 20:14

I love the idea of a packet of wildflower seeds. Or even a little charity brooch, something for people to take away and it’s giving money to charity.
