Hi all,
sorry, bit late today - digging out the school!

Met office are clearly pretty concerned about tomorrow night for the SW, and parts of Wales tomorrow night and have a severe weather advisory out

A front is due to cross over the areas concerned. exact extent of snowfall is not known yet and areas around the 'orange' warning areas should also take heed.

it is quite probably I think that the front will bring rain at first, turning to snow, which may be heavy and prolonged. Unfortunately it seems to me to be another of those 'marginal conditions for snow' type event.

if it comes off as the met office are warning it may, there will be significant disruption to travel and quite probably power supply. I would treat it as a 'prepare for the worst but hope for the best' situation.

RustyBear · 12/01/2010 21:15

Just spoke to DD in Exeter - it was snowing earlier but apparently it's now turned to rain/sleet & the snow's mostly gone.

sowhatitsonlysnow · 12/01/2010 21:20

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/01/2010 21:30

I know I really love snow, but actually would quite like just a few days off so everyone can admire my paths and so I can recover a bit. oh and get some food in otherwise it will be couscous, tuna and frozen beans every night!

Shoshe · 13/01/2010 07:33

Muumlin, Snow fell here in Blandford (North Dorset), rain cleared verything away before I went to bed, not that there was much left apart from the hard packed slippery stuff, woke up to all white again!

mspotatochip · 13/01/2010 07:36

off he's gone fully expect to see him back in 20 mins

oopsandbabycoconut · 13/01/2010 07:38

13 hours later and still snowing here in Wiltshire. Can't really tell who much as it is not snow on snow but definitely more than the 1-4cms they said we were going to get!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/01/2010 07:49

mspotatochip · 13/01/2010 07:51

Its not like him.........think he's just had enough of being cautious. Still fairly certain he won't actually manage to get on the Hogs back, hoping he turn back early enough!

Meglet · 13/01/2010 07:59

Most of the schools in Amazingstoke are shut. I was going to have a day blitzing the dc's bedrooms but nursery is shut too so we're stuck at home main-lining cbeebies again.

PollyTechnique · 13/01/2010 08:05

School shut in W Surrey - another 2 inches here I reckon and snowing moderately now.

Kids are pleased!!

I can hear the cars skidding outside whereas they had been pretty stable the last couple of days.

Keep warm and safe everyone.

teenyweenytadpole · 13/01/2010 08:09

Here in the Cotswolds, more snow, school shut again.

Joolsiam · 13/01/2010 08:11

I didn't think much had come down in St Albans and was dithering about driving to Reading for a meeting, but DP had just called and told me the roads round here are very bad, so I think it is another day working from home !

Still dithering about going to Reading after the rush hour - any idea what the roads are like there (Green Park) ?

OrmIrian · 13/01/2010 08:14

Somerset - a pathetic attempt! About an inch at the most. And both schools are open. Even DS1's that has been closed since Wednesday

mspotatochip · 13/01/2010 08:20

He's back did manage to drop dd at her fully open nursery though so a nice peaceful day aaaaaaaah. Suspect roads here might be ok after rush hour but we are in a valley and you have to go higher to get anywhere.

Whats this about more Monday? Surely not?

Julezboo · 13/01/2010 08:39

South Wales Valleys here - 8-10 inches overnight I just went out to help DH dig the car out of the snow, he didn't even dither about getting to work, his workplace are arses though they have been known to send out the company lackie in the bosses range rover to collect people. I'm worried about him and suspect a lot of other won't make it in today!

On a note, I am home alone as my boys are with MIL And I am unable to get them so I can't enjoy the snow with them I just went for a walk up the road and took a few snow pictures though

nicolamumof3 · 13/01/2010 08:46

3/4cm here in w.kent and snowing heavily here right now.
